The "You know you're playing a lot of KSP when..." thread
goldenpeach replied to Phenom Anon X's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It happened to me, although I don't remember if it was a 737-300 and that I dropped out at the last moment(I was too shy to ask those information). -
What physics calculations do you like to verify in KSP?
goldenpeach replied to TheSandDuna's topic in Science & Spaceflight
It's not really a physic calculation, but I like(or have) to calculate the landing coordinate of a craft(e.g a big rover) in order to be at a certain distance of a given target(e.g the manned lander). I made a script to do that and I can land(using mechjeb) at a reasonnable distance of the target(so I don't have to drive the rover for ten minutes before getting to the lander) -
I will tell that to my friend who used but didn't really liked it) to play KSP. I'm sure he will be happy about that

[1.0.4] SteamGauges V1.7.2 - 27 July '15

Thank you so much for that! I will be able to read a lot of number on my craft(or flight)! -

I searched the configuration for the minimum mach and g to appear on the HUD in the config file but I haven't been able to find it: where is it in the file? PS: I also tried to find them using the auto-search option in textEdit but it didn't worked However, it's a great plugin: I like to have many variables and number about my action/ship, not because there are needed but because it satisfy my nerd tendency EDIT: In case you're wondering: I'm sure that I have the version 1.4 because the new air gauge is there(and also because I can remember downloading the new version not long ago and installing it in the game data folder) and also because I notice some change since yesterday(when I downloaded the previous version) -
My design(during development and even after) are quite reliable: most of the crashs happen when physic kick in and most of the time, only radials fuel tanks falls of the rocket. When the whole rocket crumble under it's own weight(happen some time, but not every time, with most of my manned designs) I have a LES to keep the crew alive.

I joined this year(or at the very end of last year) but I don't play it regularly.

Heatshields not just for pods.
goldenpeach replied to Torraqe's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Why not both of them: the consommable heatshield would be lighter and less expensive while the permanent one would be expensive and heavy. -

Is there a way to make the mach speed indicator and the g meter appear permanently on the HUD? There are only appearing(for me) when I am above of mach 0.5 and above 2 g. EDIT: also, how can I prevent the HUD from appearing when I press "h"? -
Thank you for the fats answers! Also, I did more research and found that steam gauge plugin give your speed in mach. I will do a basic experiment to know the speed sound in KSP. EDIT: the first result(which come from a descending craft that was send high by a SRB): the speed of sound is between 320 m/s and 330 m/s.
-
Hi! Like the tittle say, I would like to know my speed in mach. Is there a mod that let me know it? Sub question: I once read that the speed of sound in KSP was constant(while in real life it depend of the temperature of the air), is that true(and if it is, what is the speed of sound)?

Sir Deimos, the reason of you account disappearing might be the Great Kraken Attack: the Kraken attacked this forum and, despite the fight of all the community and the sysadmin, many account and whole thread were lost. Never forget!

Embarrassingly Bad at EVA
goldenpeach replied to MissKerbin's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You can see it like a docking but with smaller "ships". The only way to win is to not panic(if you get the reference ). Also, remember that pressing the spacebar will make any spinning kerbal a steady kerbal, you will just have to reach your target then. -
If I were you(and if a had enough motivation) I would contact spaceflight organization(NASA, spacex, orbital science, roscosmos etc...) and ask which services you can provide to them.

You discover an asteroid. What do you name it?
goldenpeach replied to Naten's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Any name related to KSP: if I discover an asteroïd it's because KSP gave me the motivation of searching it. If I feel like trolling, I would probably arite a program to output randoms lettera just to be sure that the name is long and complicated. ( or calling it "asteroïd" to make people confused about wether we are talking about any asteroïd or talking about the asteroïd "asteroïd") -
Also, remember that NASA will make that (awesome) asteroïd mission pack for promotion. I don't think they would require anyone to buy promotion. (But we don't know yet if the pack will be usable with the demo or if you will have to buy KSP)
-
Is that you on the video? (don't hesitate to not answer me if you want to keep privacy: I fully understand that as I would probably do that)

Acceleration is not absolute nor rotation. Nothing is absolute, everything is relative(including colour, time, mass and dimension).

When I think of it, mechjeb is the only mod that stayed in my KSP folders since I downloaded it(back in 0.16 or 0.17, it was the first mod I downloaded). All the other mods has been removed at some point(and some has been replaced), but not mechjeb: I don't think I would continue flying my rockets without it. Thank you mechjeb devellopers(past, present and future) this very powerfull plugin!

banned for having a number of post that can't be divided by Pi How can you do that?!
-
The mun doesn't exist! It's a fake, the government want us to believe that there is a mun so they can fake landings on it Joke aside, my theory is that the mun is made of cement: it's quite hard(you can crash on it without breaking it) and it's gray(ish)
