Why can't they remove the graffitis? I know NASA budget is low, but it worth it: hopefully the replica will make someone interested in space.

which is more fuel efficent??
goldenpeach replied to michaelphoenix22's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
my launch ascent was: turn start at 10KM turn end at 70KM the "shape" of the ascent was 45%. Also, I made a similar test on the mun(it was an munar SSTO)(launch profile: turn start at 0KM, end at 100KM and has a "shape" of 5%) and I came with theses number(with infinite fuel on, to avoid any big difference in TWR): using LMO and transfer: 898 m/s using direct ascent: 887 m/s I aimed for an altitude of 1900 KM, for the first try(LMO and transfer) I used a parking orbit of 20KM Unfortunately, the difference is too small to come to any conclusion. If you want the crafts file I can provide them. EDIT: what do you mean by "your apoapsis when periapsis left the ground"? -

I made the test(with a similar ship used in the first test but with more fuel(the first one can only place the payload in orbit around 625KM): delta-v used by launching in 75KM and transferring to 60 000KM:5592 m/s delta-v used by launching straight to 60 000KM: 5541 I think we can say that launching straight to the desired orbit is more efficient -

I think I will do another test(tomorrow) but with more different orbit: launching in 75KM and going to 60 000KM and going straight to 60 000 to see if we notice a larger difference in delta-v usage. -

I will do a (small) test using mechjeb to do the launch(because I use it and to eliminate any error that could be made by manually piloting the rocket). Will edit my post to show the result. EDIT: delta-v used by launching to a circular 100KM orbit then transferring to circular 600KM orbit:5035 m/s delta-v used by launching straight to a circular 600KM orbit: 5010 m/s The result are about the same(the difference could come from non-optimal ascent path or the precision of mechjeb for ascent(or something like that). I don't think you should worry too much about that: use the one that is the most convenient for you. -
10/10 saw you everywhere(on this forum, not in real life(although I don't know your name so I could see you everyday and none of us would know)).

Never saw you(or I don't remember it). 0/10 sorry. :/

Am I the only one afraid to leave Kerbin?
goldenpeach replied to Deadpangod3's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Even if you stay on Kerbin(I mean, in the atmosphere of Kerbin) you can have an interesting experience:if you have flown to the south pole from KSC, you had a (quite long) moment when all you can see from your craft is water. Only water, everywhere around you. Nowhere to land if you have any problem, you can only ditch in water and hope for the best. In these moment, you can only hope for decent navigation: it's mandatory if you want to get back; your designing, piloting and navigating skills are the only things that will get you back. -

Tell her that she have to choose: either she let you play KSP or either you leave her. I don't see the point of a life without KSP(KSP is the meaning of life, by the way). DISCLAIMER: don't try that, it's not a good advice -

It's the same thing as flying in space, with some subtle differences. How do I post something in these forums? -
a = 10000 b = int(input('Please enter a number: ')) c = a ** b I know it's the same code, but due to rounding error in python my number is greater than yours by 0,0000000000000001

For Roleplayers: How do you dispose of the LV-N engines?
goldenpeach replied to Markus Reese's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I use the crash and burn option: for small interplanetary probes I usually crash them on the planet I want to land but for my manned Duna spaceship I crash them in Kerbin atmosphere; I hope Kerbals has a plan to deal with air contamination by nuclear material! -
I enabled permadeath and I try to design my ships to avoid letting too much debris in space(so far, all of my major missions(to the mun, to Duna, to my space station) produce no debris at all. I also forbid myself from stranding kerbal and do a rescue mission if it happen.

What do you think about Japanese whaling
goldenpeach replied to Pawelk198604's topic in Science & Spaceflight
What do you mean by that? -
Hi! Let's say I take a lase and point it toward myself. If I take one of the photons travelling toward me as referencial, can I say that my speed is equal to the speed of light(assuming that I am in a perfecr vacuum)? The photon is travelling toward me at the speed of light so i seem correct(to me) to say something like that but I know it's impossible to travel at light speed.
