  1. Everybody and their dog knows America\'s the best democracy money can buy. Seriously, most people don\'t seem to realise how much this is. To put it into perspective, there only are 800 billion dollars in circulation. That\'s right, this means that you have 97% of the worlds dollar supply; or something like 200 Apollo programs worth.
  2. You probably could do that... Lockheed\'s the world\'s biggest weapons manufacturer, and their total worth is barely a third of a trillion dollars.
  3. Vincent, why did you compare SpaceX not having a crewed spacecraft after 5 years of development to China supposedly not having a crewed spacecraft after 10+ years of development, despite the ridiculous gulf in funding, unless you don\'t know what you\'re talking about? And why do you ignore the fact that the US and USSR both had men in space ~5 years after starting their programs? EDIT: The stuff in the video is easy enough to counter; he\'s stuck in a tiny capsule covered with a controls and equipment that keep him alive; he\'s not going to let stuff float around.
  4. KSP doesn\'t seem to work with characters like ü; it doesn\'t accept them in ship names, or in patcher passwords.
  5. Wouldn\'t the correct pronunciation be a Portuguese/Spanish speaker\'s? All you guys so far are anglophones are far as I know.
  6. Completely different. Dream Chaser is a small lifting body that launches like a normal capsule (on an Atlas V), and makes a gliding landing like a miniature shuttle. It\'s funded by NASA under COTS, and is rapidly progressing towards flight hardware. Skylon uses much more speculative (ie dubious) technology, and is basically a lot of technical drawings right now. The supposed payload capacity\'s 15 tons, though it should be said that the design is much larger than it looks (roughly the size of the AN-225). EDIT: It\'s being funded by ESA... Corporations wouldn\'t touch anything simultaneously this expensive and this speculative with a ten foot barge pole.
  7. They said the same sort of stuff about the shuttle.
  8. Considering the \'damaged circuitry\' bit, I think he might be thinking about solar wind particles.
  9. The small spherical tanks are from the first Silisko edition, and everything else is from the first version of BACE.
  10. It looks very Rutan-ish. I\'d say it\'s meant to be Long-EZ or a VariEze, but it doesn\'t have canards.
  11. It\'s to register for posting; there\'s nothing to stop people who aren\'t registered from reading the threads, apart from the fact that the forums isn\'t up. Radion, if you\'re unable to upload the data, could you PM my posts from my nation thread?
  12. A few people have. If you want to do it yourself easily, you simply have to open the part.cfg of the stack decoupler, and change the force to something less weedy (usually 1e37, the largest number it can handle). Then stick it under the pod, go to the launchpad, press space, and voila, you\'re travelling at a few orders of magnitude above C.
  13. It goes up the SI prefixes to (I think) Yottametres, then rolls over to metres and starts again.
  14. You can fly forever. The game uses a moving origin system centred around the ship, so it\'s not effected (overly much) by floating point errors, and there\'s no invisible walls.

    Humanity

I don\'t see anything there that could realistically affect the whole planet. We managed to survive with Tuberculosis without any antibiotics for tens of thousands of years, so I think we\'re good there; all 7 billion of us aren\'t going to suddenly drop dead if we overtake the amount of food the planet can produce, and Monsanto never even mentioned the Terminator system or anything like it again after the initial hissy fit. Good look getting everyone on the planet to commit genocide against everyone else. The bottlenecks you mention all happened when we were still restricted to the horn of africa, we\'ve spread too much for anything like that now. Basically, we\'re like cockroaches. We\'ve now infested the whole house, we\'ve got into all the cracks, and you\'re not getting rid of us without something incredibly drastic.

    Humanity

I honestly don\'t think humanity could go extinct, even with something like another P-Tr event happens, or nuclear war. There\'s simply too many of us, and we\'re too adaptable.
  17. They are usually considered rocket parts, mostly because they are rocket parts. Seriously, look at the description, and things like the burn rate, it\'s obvious.

Or, you know, use some soil. Like in all of the pictures of the hab modules on the site.

    Mars-one

Yes, Mir; 3 people in 350m3 of space. This is 3 people in less than 10m3 of space.

He didn\'t mean the \'not coming back\', he meant \'living in a giant hamster habitat\'. The first set of colonists are going to be stuck in one dragon for more than a year, that\'s inevitably going to have nasty effects psychologically.

    Mars-one

Read that again. They have \'letters of interest\' from those companies, nothing more. They actually intend to get funding through advertising. $5 billion worth of funding.
  22. It happens because the Moon\'s gravity well is very irregular, due to the major changes in elevation and density at the surface.
