Epic win! It must have a vending machine! EDIT: OOOH! Or, how about this? Pictures taken by spacecrafts can be printed as posters and hung on the wall!

[1.2.2] Stock Part Revamp, Update 1.9.6. Released Source Files!
Whirligig Girl replied to Ven's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
You could: a) Kindly ask Ven to add back the stripe. Edit the Module Manager file, comment out the decoupler in question. (Put "//" in front of the entry for the decoupler) -
No "Explore Dres" mission
Whirligig Girl replied to Sonny_Jim's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Dres is bretty boring anyway. Not much around it. It definitely needs some white spots. -
[1.0.x] BatteryIndicator (2015-02-09)
Whirligig Girl replied to pizzaoverhead's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
If this were to be made compatible with Ven's Stock Revamp's batteries, I'd be really really happy. -

Look VERY closely on the top of the 1.25m decoupler (The smaller one on the top of the pic). NOT The Rockomax ones. -
[1.2.2] Stock Part Revamp, Update 1.9.6. Released Source Files!
Whirligig Girl replied to Ven's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Release when? - - - Updated - - - The arrows were removed in favor of red stripes. And yes, this was a pretty bad change in my opinion. And yes, the mod is still very much worth it. The capsule's heatshieled fairing was removed due to a bug with Ferram Aerospace Research. You use the offset gizmo to put the fuel tanks "inside" the heatshield. -
Making Places Interesting
Whirligig Girl posted a topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
One of the major points of why gas planets and moons won't be added any time soon is because there's not enough interesting stuff on the planets as is. Here's a few ideas. The ideas are all meant to be exciting, action-y things that can be fixed with either smart building or smart manuevering. preferably not easily predictable except for a vague "It will probably happen." There should always be some way of getting around these with a craft if you know the dangers. And these would not be known or detectable in career mode without science parts. Sun -Prominences and flares that could strike a craft flying close to the Sun. They'd be slow moving, massive objects, but you might be able to adjust your orbit to fly through a prominence instead of being hit by it. -Overheating, based upon orientation. (A barbecue roll might fix such problems, as might a heatshield) Moho -Random, slowly changing molten areas that act like water except falling into them rapidly overheats parts that are not protected by a heatshield landing base. And area might suddenly begin to melt or solidify --This might be really really hard to program. Eve -Hot atmosphere? -Lots of wind, might blow your ship apart or simply off course. Makes parachute landings unpredictable. -Seas are destructive to rocket parts (Made out of mercury or gallium, thus it would eat away at spacecraft) -Overheating EVA suits, Kerbals will die if they're out too long? -Clouds block solar panels all the time, bringing their output down. Wind gusts might tear off extendable solar panels. Minmus -Sudden outgassing of material around the flats, might rip off solar panels or push around light craft. Duna -Dust storms cover solar panels with dust, cleanable by EVA Kerbanauts. Rovers could drive away from whirlwinds? Dres -Spinny-spinny Dres. With an oblate shape. Maybe even an unpredictable, changing spin? Jool -Winds, different directions in the different cloud bands -Lightning strikes momentarily cut off electric charge and lock all control inputs. Laythe -Volcanoes, in set locations, If a craft is on a volcano at eruption it will overheat and potentially get knocked up in the air. Ash and dust might block out solar panels for a few days, planetwide, after an erruption. -Sea Monster (If life is found on Europa, this would be serious) Vall -Cryovolcanism in random spots every once in a while. Pushes the craft around, if a craft flies into a plume of ice and water in orbit it will be slowed down, but this can also be a very valuable science thing. -Vallquakes that violently shake the area every once in a while. -Not a hazard, but still an interesting idea: Ice Fishing on Vall for fish or bacteria samples. You'd have to bring a special aquarium part to hold the samples and bring them back to Kerbin. (If life was found on Europa, this would be serious) Bop -Going near the Kraken shakes the craft around? Valuable science if you can get near enough for a surface sample. Pol -Kerbal sneezes? Eeloo -Cryovolcanism in predictable spots? (Like around the brown areas, perhaps?) And yes, I know aliens are on the WNTS list. -
This ought to go in general KSP. This isn't really a fan-work.

[Techtree][WIP] Road to Kosmos (v0.0.3 preview)
Whirligig Girl replied to Niemand303's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Why do we need a special part for the Atlas? We can build one out of stock parts. Is it because it's a balloon tank? -
Though unlike in the real world, you could send a mission to make it's orbit not cross the Mun's SOI, and then it would be stable.

Obviously not affiliated with Epic Rap Battles of History, but I had this idea in my mind for a while and I need to see it happen. EPOCH RAP BATTELSOFISTOREE! WERNHER VON KERMAN! VERSUS! WERNHER VON BRAUN!!!! You little green man, After this rap you're gonna be banned, you don't even have a world a tenth of ours to stand. My humbly brilliant ideas of orbital stations, they're no match for your newb-unfriendly impatience. You dabble with rocketry, while we build up a nation! Our rocket's called the Saturn, undeniably large, you waste your time emptying your bladder on a glorified barge! Your science is wrong, seriously just think! You can't make an engine by knowing 'bout "Eve"'s drink! Excuse me sir, von Braun, I'd like to have a word, 'bout these Scientific Principles you might think is absurd. Your rockets go to kill your people left and to the right, you're a sellout, You aid the Nazis with their genocidal fight! Of all the minds in the universe they waste my time with this? Meetings to attend, budget to contend. I really can wait for this to reach it's end Our discovery mechanic is something to be envied, Mystery Goo, Laboratories, they all get us the engines. Your So-called R&D program is a complete and total mess! Engines won't work first try, let alone the next! You really can't touch us! Only 2.5 years through! We have rovers on Duna, Mun, Minmus, and Ee-loo. A return mission from everywhere is planned and on the table, our space program has flourished while yours is just a bland fable. You claim you've got an achievement going to these places. You silly green Kerbals with silly green faces. Do you not realize the caliber of our space unit? Duna landing and return takes less fuel than Earth orbit! Your petty achievements are tiny in our eyes, I mean this literally of course, seriously on our world you'd be saying "Do you want fries?" We can't touch you? Why would we want to! And really, you must learn a fair bit of humility, your imagined self-importance takes you far from those like Shimmy. You've barely left your rock, even though you've got resources! Look at the space around you! I can't believe you stay there! We devote every resource to exploring space, got a shuttle? Well a tad bit orbiting you get. Suddenly, Gru and several minions pop up. You all have the wrong idea, your flying into space, I got the Moon! In my hand! Such a tiny little place! My yellow minions here are much more adorable than Kerbals, though perhaps not so much as my lab rats and my gerbils. WHO WON? WHO'S NEXT? YOU DECIDE! I refuse to accept an constructive (or otherwise) critiscism, this is a joke.

0.9 was pretty fun, but yeah, it's missing a lot of features. Struts were added for the first time, and the stagin was reworked, so at least it's better than 0.8 or 0.7.3.

The one problem I have with this pack is that it feels too much like a "kit", like the Kerbin Shuttle Orbiter System. This is something HGR does a really good job of staying away from. It shouldn't ever be too easy to make a real-life craft, imo. That said, the work you've done here is really awesome. Keep up the uber-cool work!

KW Isn't Stockalike. But at the same time, Stock Parts are good enough for Saturn V. Although an F-1x5 Engine block might be nice.

[1.02] Vertical Propulsion Emporium. v0.22b (10th may 2015)
Whirligig Girl replied to Kerb-fu's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Whale oil would be considerably less efficient than even the least efficient of Kerolox burners. The way I see it, Kerosene and Liquid Oxygen would be a good base to have your engines fueled, with less efficiency to facilitate the low technology. Liquid Oxygen was first produced in measurable amounts in 1877, and was produced in large quantities by 1884, both well within the steampunk age. A tech level of between 1877 and 1884 would therefore be the target, as it's not hard to imagine that had there been a large enough research dedicated to it, it could have happened earlier, even as early as the 1860s. The first common gasses were liquidifed in 1845, so that would be the lower boundary. Faraday, the scientist who achieved these liquifactions, called oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, carbon monoxide, methane, and nitric oxide the "permanent gasses." Kerosene was available as early as the 1700s as "coal oil." It would be far less gruesome and more scientifically accurate to have Coal Oil used instead of Whale Oil. So here's the types of fuel I believe should be used. Coal Oil + Liquid Oxium Isp range: 290sASL-310sVac to 300sALS-340sVac Max Thrust range (Based on LV-T30 sized engine; ignoring Isp): 195 kN to 215 kN Cost: 0.8 per unit of Coal Oil, 1.3 per unit of Oxium. Munshine + Liquid Oxium Isp range: 250sASL-290sVac to 290sASL-315sVac Max Thrust range: 180 kN to 200 kN Cost: 0.5 per unit of Munshine, 1.3 per unit of Oxium. Boompowder Unable to throttle or turn off (Solid Propellant) Isp range: 175sASL-230sVac Max Thrust range: 250 kN to 300 kN Cost: 0.2 per unit of Boompowder Peroxium RCS Fuel, or Monoprop engine. Isp range: 170sASL-200sVac Cost: 1.2 per unit of Peroxium -

I think a smaller scaled version of this (3.75m diamter) would suffice.
