  1. Is there a less-mathy tutorial for getting into an equatorial orbit from non-equatorial launch sites?
  2. Okay, here's a list of my achievements thus far. Using 64:10 Kerbin, FAR, DR, Home-Grown Rocket Parts, RLA Stockalike, Kerbal Stock Parts eXpansion, Kerbal Isp Difficulty Scale (set at Vac1.125/atm0.85), and of course RealSolarSystem. Stayputnik using stockalike/accurate-ish R7 replica (Thank you HGR), launched from Roka Kosmodrome. No pFairings, I forgot them at first. Mercury-ish orbital manned launch using stock parts, launched from KSC Mun Orbit Probe/Impromptu landing probe using pFairings, stock parts, RLAstockalike, and KSPX; launched from the small island between KSC continent and Kermansburg continent, name escapes me. LEO Rendezvous Apollo/Gemini style Mun landing mission. The docking ports were too weak for the transfer stage, so I had to stay at 1/3 thrust for 5 minutes. Bob and Jeb spent some quality time together but Bob ended up with Collins Duty. Launched from KSC, both rockets. Vostock replica using pFairings and HGR, and a few stock parts, launched from Roka. Attempted Soyuz (Soy-Juice) replica to orbit with HGR, but I couldn't get an accurate-ish launcher to orbit without using fuel from the Soy-Juice. Also launched from Roka Kosmodrome. Space Tourism currently WIP at the Orok Spaceport (hope I got the name right). So far I got a four-man pod and a mainsail pushing it with an inflatable heatsheild on the top and bottom.
  3. I found that a Stayputnik can be launched to orbit using 64:10 scale Kerbin, a KIDS values of Vac1.125/atm0.85, a long walk, short tank and orange-grey tank core with short tank and orange core boosters with the fueled nosecone will get to orbit with a tiny bit to spare.
  4. I love 6.4x Kerbin. But is there any way to make Minmus, Bop, Gilly, and Pol retain their bumpiness? Also, can we have a polar launch site? How easy is it to make new launch sites? Additionally, the water sphere seems to be invisible, but still tangible at 0 meters.
  5. Actually that's a myth. KSP will simulate it on individual parts unless you're timewarping.
  6. What's with the super-weird shadows on certain parts, including Kerbals?
  7. Didn't Mars One have a kickstarter? Mars one had a sucessful 50 million dollar kickstarter... that might pay for the padding on the seats.
  8. My dad mentioned that it would make a great federation.
  9. I want to see this in KSP with Planet Factory. http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn25653-ultimate-solar-system-could-contain-60-earths.html?cmpid=RSS%7CNSNS%7C2012-GLOBAL%7Conline-news#.U4235ZRdX3C&utm_source=howtogeek&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter
  10. The comics are great, but the What Ifs are starting to get kinda dull. I WANT MY SPACE BOEING
  11. I'm just going to put this here. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/51831-How-to-make-Kerbals-awesomer
  12. No, if it had 1 g of gravity at the surface, rather than 1 g of gravity at the Kerbin or Earth radii, than it would not be the same mass. G ASL is what's important for the SOI.
  13. I think just having a selection for the Helmet, body, legs, and arms would be good, and then you can tack on some additional parts like lights, jetpack tank and thrusters, and parachutes. Also, EVA action groups, such as "Move arm straight out" to use a wrist-mounted flashlight, or "Pull in tether." Speaking of which, I'm suprised Tethers still haven't been implementndwsanofndcaounfdc
  14. It wouldn't. Orbital velocity around this rock would be about running speed.
  15. He was joking. Anyway, I think B612 would be a really cool planet to add. it's SOI would be very small, so it could just be an easter egg orbiting Dres or something. Even though this wouldn't make sense in our universe, NovaSilisko (He MADE most of the Planets, so I think he has the authority here.) has stated that Kerbals are in an alternate universe, so it could happen. (I guess Kerbalverse is somewhere between UnivPrime and the Microverse.)
  16. If you do make a space plane, either make it totally self contained in one part or make it a modular part system like Mk1 and Mk2 plane parts. I really hate mods that you can't really use anything more than for just one ship. Even though KSO is really pretty, I never use it because of this. I'd like to see some stockalike 5-meter parts, preferably under the Kerbodyne name rather than HGR. I don't really like stockalike mods that use manufacturers not in the game, but it makes since for HGR as it is a totally new set of parts. But if you were to do 5-meter parts, it wouldn't make sense for a company to build such drastically different things. Also, I've modified the .cfg files of all of your parts to have better names and all use the correct manufacturer name, better descriptions, including russian version of Homegrown Rocket Parts and Chinese version of Homegrown Rocket Parts for the Soyuz and Shenzhou as manufacturers. With your permission, I'd like to release this alternate version.
  17. If you do make a tech tree, can you also make one that works without any stock parts installed? Also, a Klaw part that uses a big Horse-shoe magnet facing forewards, and remake the docking ports so that that use bar-magnets.
  18. Is there a tool that can turn cylinder maps into other types of maps, like the butterfly projection or the polar circular projection who's name escapes me that the flat earth society uses?
  19. I love using this map for my headcanon. It feels truly Kerbal. What exactly are the UK and Germany analogs? Using this map as the basis for my wip writing.
  20. If Gomlonila is not the Germany analog in this map, please tell me what is. Also, United Kingdom analog isn't clear. I chose Ubacia because it's between Kerbal-America and Kerbal-Europe, and that's what the UK pretends to be. EDIT: It's Ryemnarg
  21. Still Work In Progress. Currently working on Kerbal Characters. Will be a story about how each of the Kerbal characters make KSP happen. Canon uses this map Currently takes place just before the establishment of the Kerbal (Kelpogart) Space Program (KSP) and just after the establishment of the Ussarian Federal Vosiet Space Agency (UDVSA). Characters: Original Three Jebediah "Thrillmaster" Kerman: Courageous, Brave, and a Daredevil, always trying to experiment with dangerous things. Test pilot for the KAF. "Fearless? Brainless? Who can tell?" Bob "Inky" Kerman: Youngest of the Kerman Bros, very inquisitive and excited to explore. He is, however, very scared of all the dangerous bits of space, but he wouldn't give it up for the world. Test Pilot for the KAF. "Afraid he's not coming home." Bill "Buzzkill" Kerman: The oldest Kerman Brother is very skeptical of Jeb's plans, and even so he attempts to do the math behind crazy contraptions. He's the real brains of the operation. Test Pilot of the KAF. "Always knows when something's gone wrong." KSC Guys Wernher von Grun: A kerbal from the country of Ryemnarg, former head scientist behind the Izan-Gomlonilan Missile Program. He always had spaceships in the back of his mind, he never wanted warfare to be had by his rockets. A very eccentric man with astounding ideas and almost always limited ability to carry out his plans. "Well, hypothetically it should have worked." Gene "Vest" Kerman: Always interested in the prospect of space travel, Gene Kerman had been a very smart child. He wrote an essay in High School about "Intrastellar Spaceflight Designs" which talks of Interplanetary travel to Duna and Ike, as well as Jool. He joined the "United Democratic Kingdom of Omork Royal Excecutive Military Aircraft Program (UDKoOREMAP)", and when Omork split with Kelpogart, he worked for the "Kelpogart Air Force (KAF)". He's a very determined man, a born leader, and very patient and helpful. "Well, someone has to run the show." Bobak "Mohawk Guy" Kerman: Gene's Best Friend. This guy is very popular with media, and has often expressed himself in the form of music. He is a very expressive Kerbal. He'd definitely cooler and edgier than the other scientists. "So the universe is just being awesome all the time. 10000 galaxies." President Jefferson F. Eisenkerman*: Was the first president of Kelpogart after it split with Omork, and is serving his fourth (And last) term. His motives in establishing the KSP were not entirely scientific. He is determined to win against those darned Vosiet Ussarians! *Jefferson Davis the Confederate president, Fizgerald (Kennedy), Eisenhower "We will go to the Mun in this period of time and do the other things!" Manufacturers/CEOs Chad Sven Jr.: After working to make his own version of The Wrong Brothers Flier, Chad Sven Sr. established the C7 Aerodynamics Company. His son continued in his father's footsteps. C7 Aerodynamics invented the Jet Engine for use in the UDKoOREMAP and later the KAF. He and his buisness are busy working for the unveiling of the Aerospace Parts, which are still in heavy development. "Hey, GET OUT OF THE WIND TUNNEL!" Stanley Kerman: CEO of Stanley Technologies Electronics and Destabilizing Large Engineering Reactions (STEADLER) Corps. He has worked with the finest mechanical and computer engineering people in the country. It's safe to say that when it comes to Computer tech, he knows what he's doing. "Most good programmers do programming not because they expect to get paid or get adulation by the public, but because it is fun to program." Egar Kerlington: As a kid, this was that one guy in the back of the class who was constantly making origami airplanes. He decided that the low-quality paper he used in school wasn't good enough, and invented a totally new kind of paper. One day he was messing around with origami when he remembered his old paper airplanes. He then decided to try and get into model rockets, where he began to produce his own. He established both Kerlington Model Rockets and Paper Products and Valley Co. Aeronautical Sciences, the latter of which he would soon rename Periapsis Co. Orbital Sciences. Ironically, the only product PcOS made was the Separatron, a large Kerlington rocket engine. "What is your problem with paper winglets?" John "Rocky" Kesk: A big buff guy, with the most charisma a Kerbal can possibly have. He invented the first Electrical Car, although he did not market it, and he owns Rockomax Conglomerate, who are continuing work on large rocketry systems to be ready within a while. Some conspiracy theorists believe that he is the secret identity of "Gadget". Those people don't seem to recognize that Gadget is a fictional character and that his alter-ego is, in fact, Tony Kerbok. "constantly think about how you could be doing things better and questioning yourself." Eumon "The Contructor" Kerman: this chemist and engineer is renowned for his work on the modern combustion engine. He fixes them. He tends to be rather lazy. "I shall never fail! Especially not miserably!" Dinklestein Kerman: Dinklestein is a Ryemnargan architect and toy-maker. He's rather cautious and very scared of lawsuits, as his company can't afford to be sued. "Basically, the idea is that with everyone striving to be revolutionary, you will be most revolutionary if you try to be ordinary." Supporting Staff and Scientists Carl "The Intern" Kerman: Even though most people just know him as "The Intern", Carl enjoys his internship with the Kelpogart Military Missile Program under Wernher von Braun. He is notorious for "researching alternative applications for existing technologies" (dumpster diving and finding things on the side of the road). "Hey, I found this squid thing..." Kirrim Kerman: This man is very secretive, and he knows what he's doing. He is a Secret Service worker for the Kelpogart Government. Don't tell anyone, but I'm pretty sure that's just fancy-talk for "Special Agent". "-REDACTED-" Scott "Astronogamer" Kermanley: This kerbal astronomer is instrumental in the communication of science to the people. In his free time, he plays lots of videogames. He is from the Northern Ubacian Kingdom, and has a bald head. "I'm Scott Kermanley, Fly Safe" Edlu Kerman: This Nihacimian Kerbal Astronomer has avidly studied asteroids, and hope that joining the Space Program will give him a chance to save Kerbin from an asteroid should that be a problem in the future. "Why am I rotating like that?" Rusty Kerman: An UDKoOREMAP and later KAF pilot, he wants to fly something in space, that's all. "We're not passengers on Spaceship Earth. We're the crew." Families Desley Kerman: Bob Kerman's Vall-entine (Wife/Girlfriend). She's pregnant with Deslong Kerman's egg. Desley is always scared that Bob won't come back from a flight alive. "My love, he wanders in starflight... I know, he'll find in star-clustered reaches..." Chadnie Kerman: Jebediah's Vall-entine. She's never been one to question Jebediah's BadAsserry, but she does wish he'd stop with all the dangerous envelope pushing. Mother of two. "Jeb, get your ass back down here right now. Wait, you better not tell them to use this as the quote!" Jeblime "Limey" Kerman: Jebediah's 10-year old daughter. She's very inquisitive and close to Bob Kerman. "I wanna go ta space when I grow up too!" Orion Kerman: Scott's 4-year old son. "[Minmus] looks like Hoth." Sky Kerman: Scott's 6-year old daughter. "Yeah, so I don't really know what these are, anyway..."
  22. They're not even a little bit stockalike. They can't even look good with stock docking ports.
