Planet Factory Creator Challenge #1 Cool Sci-Fi concepts The goal of this challenge is to create a new planet using Krag's Planet Factory: Creator Edition. Entries will be voted on in a poll similar to the old Better Stock Crafts by Xeldrak. This week's challenge is to create a planet that would be seen as a plot point on Star Trek, or an otherwise weird planet. Inaccessible, for instance, is a good example. As the Judge I shall not be posting an entry, instead I will link to my current WIP for PFCE: Asteroid Pack. RULES Entries must be completed by January 26th, 2014, at 6:00 PM EST. You may enter an entry that has already been made, unless you are Kragrathea. You must provide a download link to the planet, as well as a picture of it, any moons it has, and it's orbit around it's parent body. Please try to put it around the Sun, instead of another star system. If it is possible to land on the planet, land on it. You don't have to send a legit mission to the planet, but do try to land and ascend from it. You may use a custom Visual Enhancements pack on this, must be included with the download. If you want to suggest a rule just ask in the thread or PM me. Inspiration Notes Make something REALLY original if you can. Make it well. You have only a week from the day of posting to finish the rough draft. You can of course keep working on it on your own after the challenge. Download Space Engine for getting textures. You can export the textures of planets as Height and Color maps. I don't expect a whole lot of people to enter these first few challenges. Hopefully this and by extension Planet Factory will gain popularity over time. It's also easier than it looks to make a custom planet. I made my first textured, custom, non-random planet in about 5 hours off and on working (My first planet of all in about 30 minutes), so it's not that hard. Voting will occur after the week, then after two more days the final vote, then the winner is announced. Polls will be on Pollcode.com Good luck!

EDIT: 9/26/2016 This was an old terrible planet mod done in the dark ages of planet modding when the planet modding plugin was bad and I was worse. This was from a time over two years ago when I thought the important part about modding was "being a modder" rather than "making mods." This mod is badly written, buggy, terrible, boring, and needs to be forgotten along with everything else I did in 2014.

Now I'm having a problem with Plantar. While trying to give it an atmosphere the game crashed, and now it wont give Plantar a scaled space, it's just invisible.

What non-game restrictions do you put on yourself in career mode and sandbox mode? All Deorbit spent stages (once inline probes are found in career mode). Logical progression, don't speed through. Use life support mod. Use FAR Uses DR. Realistic designs, rarely uses Asparagus. Career Try to progress tech tree through what I need first. Kerbals stay dead, no reverts. Probes before Kerbals once I get probes, Moon mission only when Apollo is possible. No Cheating. Sandbox Probes before Kerbals SOMETIMES. Small probe sizes. Messing around stuff (lotso boosters, catapults, etc.)

Bsrry's not meant to actually exist at all. It's a gravitational point, not an object. In KSP, though, Barry has to have a small surface, and it has to exist.
-
Make it look like cubed Kerbin. Minecraftia!
-
I'm guessing this wasn't supposed to happen. The second image is the scaled space, the first image is the actual map. EDIT:upon reloading the game, the lander in orbit was put on a suborbital trajectory to Plantar, and the crazy scaled space view became a perfect sphere (albiet still with the crazy spiky terrain.

I really want the DL for that cubeplanet

Krags PlanetFactory. Updated Jan 22

Serious Serious is something no Kerbal Astronomer had expected. It was discovered 2000 years before THe sun, as Kerbals then really didn't like the sun, and just looked up at the stars for most of the time. It was recently revealed that Serious, the brightest star in the sky, actually orbits the sun. Because of the Kerbal Astronautical Union's definition of a planet, Serious is now considered a Gas Giant that happens to be fusing Hydrogen. Joker Joker is a tiny speck seen only with the best telescopes. Not much is known of it, hence it's name. Scientists speculate that is may also be very colorful. Bary Bary was once thought of as being a star in it's own right. closer inspection has led the Kerbal Astronautical Union to see it as a binary star, two stars, GInger and Fred. Ginger Ginger is one of the binary stars in the Bary system. It is perhaps the lonleyest twin any Kerbal has found, because Fred spends most of it's time talking to it's planet. Fred Fred is one of the binary stars in the Bary system. It has a planet orbiting it, and it probably loves it. Barney This legendary planet seems to spend most of it's time waiting for it. It would be an interesting challenge to accept going to this planet. Because this planet has no atmosphere, you should probably suit up before walking it's surface. True Story. Slade Slade is a moon of Barney. It is almost completely unknown if this moon actually exists, but we saw that the wobble of Fred was going up and down a little bit, and then we saw that the planet must be what's causing the wobble. But since planets don't wobble, there must be a moon here. -

Solution to Kerbal Helmet exoatmosphere problem. Have a right click menu button that says "Change into IVA suit/Change into EVA suit", and the Kerbal automatically changes outside of a breathable atmosphere. -
On a planet dying from it's enlargened sun, the species known as Hummins ventured away from Earth on massive starships to the only planet they could find that was hospitable. It was half the size of Earth, and orbited a red dwarf. it had only one moon, big enough to stabilize it's axial tilt, and had an oxygenated atmosphere. It was named Kurth, or "New Earth". The moon was called Mon, and there they built the Hummin civilization for millions of years. The Hummins over time developed giant heads, lost skin tone, and developed compound eyes. They were also rather skinny. These became known as the Draki. They soon colonized the nearest star system, known as Kerbol. It had a habitable planet in it called Kerbin, where they colonized first, even though it had twice the gravity that the Draki were used to. It had a large moon called Mun and a small moon called Minmus. The Draki on Kurth eventually went extinct, as they had gone into a war that destroyed all civilization on it. The Kerbin Draki, meanwhile, were still prospering, but they had become lazy. They had servants, but they were paid too much for the average person. There was no way they were going to enslave their own kind, so they bred a new breed of Draki that were mostly stupid. They were called Kervants, and they were not as stupid as the Draki thought. Three Kervants revolted, and were banished to the dead planet Kurth. Jebidiah, Bill and Bob found some damaged Draki technology, and fixed it up so they would be cloned so they couldn't die. They spent hundreds of years developing a rocket that could return to Kerbin. When they fianlly returned, they found the Kervasnts had taken over, and that they were now called Kerbals. They had nothing to do, so Jeb started KSC.

What is making that light? It's not Kerbol, and it's definitively not Gilly.
-
Okay, this is probably stupid, but here's my idea. What if you put Propeller Blades on the intake fan? Extra thrust? Would the extra mass just make it worse?

Post your "KSP just gave up on physics" images here!

When I pointed at Jool with a mainsail and a probe core with infinite fuel, when I reached Jool I just bounced off the atmosphere. -

It's in the game's poodle, but the Mun or Bust engine is just at lower thrust. -
HotRockets! Particle FX Replacement + Tutorial
Whirligig Girl replied to Nazari1382's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
the exhaust detaches from the nozzle. It shouldn't. also, the ehaust should get bigger, then smaller, not widest at the nozzle Also, the poodle should have a fint red/pink aerozine rocket effect. The poodle is used as an AJ10-137 engine, that is, as a Service Propulsion System. THe SPS was hypergolic, used Aerozine. I think somewhere there should be an engine that uses a faint blue steam exhaust. The LV-N 's exhaust should be a very faint blue superheated hydrogen. -

The 909 and poodle fx look wrong and unrealistic. I've never seen real engine exhaust like that. I really am looking forwards to air-pressure specific exhaust. -
What will happen if a FTL ship hits Earth?
Whirligig Girl replied to Aghanim's topic in Science & Spaceflight
in my SF story, this happened to a starship. The the craft comes towards the moon, but because it warps space, the outside world had no effect. It sort of slips through a bit of space that's a planck length thick, but the inside of the slit is bigger, the size of the starship. -

I will get this when there are shock diamonds and air pressure-specific fx. The new fx look a bit more dirty. -
I'm going to 3D print your spaceship and send it you

Id like to see a Kerbal X. It's probably the most iconic Kerbal ship.
