The greatest (engineering) achievement of mankind
KOCOUR replied to Camacha's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I second that! -
Recycling isnt any new. Actually people was recycling literaly everithing before they got lazy and stoped to recycle. When i was kid, my parrents recycled, reused, or repurposed anything that was at least somehow usefull. I was rised on farm so all organic waste was turned to fertilizer or fed to animals. Botles were used to store food over and over untill they broke and after that even the scrap glass was repurposed for decoration or construction purposes (you need lot less concrete to make a floor or wall if you put lot of glaas and other garbage to it). My younger siblings was wearing my old clothes as i outgrew it, i was wearing slightly adjusted old clothes after my parrents or older cousins. Broken toys was repaired instead of thrown away, leftowers from onedays dinner was used for next day lunch. Then things started to be cheaper, we moved to the city, we grew lazy over time. We stopped recycle as just buy things became easier, and the things themselves became cheaper. Nowadays some things becoming more expensive again, so some people put a bit more thought before they just throw it away, but i doubt that anyone will ever again recycle everithing as my parrents did.

It is just matter of practice. Personaly recommend Mechete over axe, if you are into melee, because it is more agille, it is lighter than axe, and you can stab with it if you dont have space to swing it. But you know without knowledge of proper fighting techniques with either of the weapons, and lot of practice, youl not be efective with it, so if you want to use melee weapons, please take at least some kind of fighting lessons with the weapon. I dont know how in your country, or where are you from, but in my there are plenty of teachers who will teach you, for reasonable price. Also recommend using leather working glowes to prevent damage to your palms. But if you really looking to survive, i recommend shotgun. It is easy to use, and damn efective. :-) And also this Z idea is rather silly if the Zed´s were even possible, ods are, that we would be the zed´s rather than the survivors. So your only concern would be to get a fresh Bbrrraaiin. Lol.

I tried to use those pipes, Looks awsome bytheway, but after i switch to space center or another wessel, and then switch back to place where i tested them, they are all gone even the storage containers that Jeb put on ground are gone. Only Jeb and his truck stayed there, and parts directly atached to the truck stayed there everithing else disappeared. Also Jeb tends to fall to the ground and play dead near those pipes and pylons.

Iwould be really intersted in what the hell you think that iam thinkink. Cause it sems to me that you have no idea. Maybe youll better read again what i was reacting on. And also comparing people to historical wiliains its pretty cheap way to win an argument. Just to clarify one thing. By Agresivity and oportunism i dont mean some mindless "i will crush everiones head and take everithing for myself" but something more like "I will do anything to secure my Tribe/nation/species future, even if it means that i will have to do bad things to other tribe/nation/species if it is needed" It is not fancy or enjoyable to do "bad" things to others, but sometimes it is the only efective way to achieve your goals. You also need to be nice to some people, because: 1. You need friends. We are social creatures, and social interaction is one of our basic needs. 2. You need supporters and allies if you want to ever achieve anything. No one ever achieves anything big on his own. @RalaThon yep you summed it up pretty nice.

Some reasons behind Cold Fusion's controversy
KOCOUR replied to JMBuilder's topic in Science & Spaceflight
It is the basic presumption. If you can not provide evidence that something exist, you have to consider it dont exist untill proper evidence proves othervise. Same thing is used in law: It is called presumption of innocence, and it says that untill you can prove someones guilty, he is presumed innocent. In other words if you cant prove that man did something, you have to assume he did not. -
Such society wouldnt survive. Agresivity and opportunism are paths to succes, no matter if we are talking fight, bussines, social interactions, or species survival.

Given the size of space, limitations of how far you can go, and that there would not be much habitable planets in where you are able to go, Reasonable thing to do, when you find a habitable planet, is to colonize it, and get rid of any "inconviniecies" that could possibly threaten your interests on that planet.

Some reasons behind Cold Fusion's controversy
KOCOUR replied to JMBuilder's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Thats not how it works! You are claiming something, you have to provide sources and proofs. Untill that i assume that all you said you just made up. -

The Warhammer 40,000 / (Fantasy) discussion thread.
KOCOUR replied to briansun1's topic in The Lounge
Knife or dagger would be good at lot of things. You can slice a bread or piece of meat with it, you can sharpen a stick to put a piece of meat on it and then bake it on fire, you can use it to silently kill an unaware enemy from behind, and it is easily concielable and lightweight. Sword, battleaxe or warhammer would be useless in any kind of combat where any kind of more advanced weaponry is used. Theese things are big and heavy. Also Sword was rarely used as an main weapon in its own time. Main weapons was Axe, poleaxe, spear, or hammer. Oh and forget about those big hammers used in games and movies, medieval warhammer looks like this: and types of warhammers are shown here: Edit: For bigger pics look here: http://kocour.imgur.com/all/ -
