'Flies like a brick' would be a precise description... On the other hand: Here you go: Flies like a dream, lands anywhere, can orbit.
-
Close Enough
-
And there is still room for boosters... Awesome craft, nuff said.
-
Then I\'ll use several high speed drop-ships.
-
My craft is built for intercepting objects in orbit. If I wanted to attack another planet, I would use missiles.
-
Why are you making your warships so large? They make for easy targets, and if just one fuel tank explodes, their done for. I prefer small and agile interceptors: You won\'t see it till it\'s too late...
-
As preperation for future versions, I have tried to construct a ship capable of visiting future members of the Kerbol star system. That\'s right, an interplanetary ship: All stock parts and with enough fuel to visit just about anywhere in the system. The 6 tanks around the central core are drop tanks designed to be dropped in two groups. This allows for stabillity, efficiency and makes it look awesome. The ascent stage, less so:
-
I usually use ASAS combined with some winglets and gimballing engines. So far that has kept any of my death traps... I mean rockets, stable. Nice lander
-
We needed some form of passenger transport in space. A local company was already making great busses, so they got the job. This was the result. You sir, have just won the game.
-
Does this count?
-
This has to be the most awesome thing ive seen on KSP to date (not counting the game it self =P). When persistance comes out, I\'ll be landing several platforms arround kerbin, to act as landing pads for my crafts. Sea based space ports ftw 8)
-
It is not yet possible because all parts that are more than ~5km from your command module are currently deleted. If you try to keep track of a discarded booster by zooming out the camera, you\'ll notice that it 'disapears' at some point. But I can\'t wait to try a hostile interception once persistence is out!

Challenge: Drag race to 100KM altitude

1:44 2460.9 m/s Stock parts No ASAS -
'Any society who would take away a little liberty, to gain a little security, would deserve neither, and lose both.' -Ben Franklin. Laws like these are, in their worst application, steps down a path towards the end, of what once made nations great places to live, Personal Freedom. Unfortunantly, those in power cannot tolerate the level of diversity that this freedom brings, because they fear the changes it brings to their society. They do not understand, that Personal Freedom, Diversity and change is the only things that allows any group to survive changes in their surroundings, that they cannot control. Because things always change... sooner or later... things will happen... that you cannot control... and you must have the diversity... to adapt. Did I go all philosofical again? Sorry mister senator, I\'llgogetmymedicationrightaway

To celebrate the new V0.13.1 I made this: A Cruiser chassis: And a huge lander: All stock parts, Enjoy

Shooting for the stars...with SRBs...
Robo336 replied to Robo336's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Well, some of them. Unfortunately, because of those who couldn\'t see its Kerbal magnificence, this one never flew... Oh, and it used crossfeed fuel pipes and drop tanks, and was intended (also) for a direct-ascent Lunar mission. Totally 0.13 compliant. Too bad there was only room for one moon rocket in the space race. Would have been nice/fun if they had continued, building bases up there and such. But the money-men weren\'t with them, so it all kind of stopped at sattelite building. Oh well... let\'s see what the future will bring -
Shooting for the stars...with SRBs...
Robo336 replied to Robo336's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
You are quite right. All but the last stage is needed to get to the right altitude. Adding another stage won\'t help much, as it would only carry the rest of the dead-weight rocket a few hundred meters up. Of course, I could make the additional stage wider, but then the contraption would start looking more like a pyramid than a rocket ??? And while I have nothing against insane pyramid-shaped rockets, it\'s not the purpose of this creation. You are welcome to add an ASAS to the top and give it a go. I would love to see some screens if you hit the mun -
With the 0.13 update, insane pyramid designs run like a dream. So I decided to make something rather kerbal to celebrate the event: The Smokestack! The ship in all it\'s physics defying glory! Escape velocity using SRBs. If your aim is better than mine you could theoretically hit the mun with this piece. To begin with, I was trying to get to orbit using only SRBs. The Smokestack can do that, but it ends up rather eccentric (Pe~30km, Ap~8000km). So while it\'s possible, it\'s clearly not very efficient (but when did the kerbals ever care about such trivialities :)

Jeb is happy because he likes anything that goes boom. Bill and Bob are happy because they weren\'t in the thing that went boom...
-
He\'s just taking the game -very- seriously... oh and: Almost made a full orbit but: But I did learn one thing: Stay away from the rim of the big craters... ...That\'s where you\'ll find the highest concentration of deadly peaks
-
This challenge is simple: after having landed on the Mun, you must begin opimizing your Kebol->Mun missions. You must build the biggest lander possible and get it to the Mun as fast as possible. You are only allowed to use vanilla parts. launchpad and after touchdown screenshot or it didn\'t happen. I\'ll start out small On launchpad mission time on touchdown: 7h 13m Who said they have to get home again? Try to beat the current highscore!
-
If not, you can always strap more boosters on it...
-
My tiny lander This thing is very prone to tipping over but can survive touchdown speeds up to 10m/s. Out of fuel at 4000m. Who said they have to get home again? Parachute deployed. They should survive the crashlanding.
-
Somehow I don\'t think they will be using chemical rockets 1000 years from now... ...sad though, I like boosters :\'(
