  1. my guess'd be minecraft, but what do i know
  2. show me a craft with a 5:1 ratio (oh btw i mean ram-air intakes and circular intakes only) that looks feasible
  3. i think my original comment was removed by a mod or something... which doesn't surprise me now that i think about it
  4. i define it as having more than 3:1 intake-engine ratio (with the use of tri adapter). attaching intakes to cubic octagonal struts is a definite no-no for me to me that's like saying "Some really impressive craft are possible, if you don't mind infinite fuel and hack gravity enabled"
  5. the point is to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no kerbal has gone before. the point is to satisfy the (presumably human) player's compelling urge to explore and discover.
  6. make sure the Kerbin-Kerbol-Jool angle is just over 90 degrees (96 IIRC). set up the maneuver node so that the line follows the projected curve exactly, AND gives you an encounter
  7. of the updates ive experienced: 1) 0.18 -docking obviously, but also i really like the retextures over the old parts. plus it added Eeloo i think, and the second runway 2) 0.17 -planets derp 3) 0.15 -spaceplane hanger 4) 0.14 -persistence (and quicksaving too maybe?) 5) 0.19 -ROVERS! REENTRY! MUAHAHAHAHAHA 6) 0.16 -EVA, IVA, Launch Clamps 7) 0.13 -fuel lines, optimizations 8) 0.20 -what did this update even bring that was really "new" exactly? this update is meh for me. not to mention the disappointments that came with a lack of resources and lack of hitchhiker IVA view
  8. Something akin to a Super Earth would be cool. like kerbin, but large. ringed planets, "sideways" planets (like uranus), io analog is all high on my list
  9. you didnt know? i pointed it out a while ago in a thread (i think it was a poll on the age of KSP players) and in the "18 and under" category or some such, i saw that novaslisko had cast his vote oh and happy birthday!
  10. ive been wondering this myself since .20 release. in fact, the first thing i did when the update came out was put a kerbal in the hitchhiker cylinder, only to be greatly disappointed when, frankly, the most exciting thing i thought was going to be in the update was absent
  11. im not really sure why this thread is necessary
  12. depends on the rover. this one would go 40 m/s easily on Duna in the flat parts
  13. it really depends on my next question. they say the crater generation is procedural, but does that mean that every time a person makes a new save file, it will replant all the craters in random places? or did the devs just create an algorithm or something that spawned all the craters, and then set that specific layout as the default? ie. will my crater placement be the same as my friends? will the crater placement be different from one save file to the next? if its the same for everyone, i love it! if its different for every save file, i dislike it because it means no one can agree on what the craters are. and you cant name them or anything like that
  14. you are wrong on that front, my friend. Jool is one of the easiest planets to reach because of its enormous gravity well. also the higher atmosphere makes for stronger aerobraking and more effective parachutes
  15. Duna. larythe is cool and easy to get to, but it takes forever to timewarp and the delta v requirements are huge. building a duna base is 85% as awesome and you can build it quickly in comparison.
  16. so this does in fact happen IRL, but what about KSP? are the physics complicated/realistic enough or whatever such that this happens ingame as well?
  17. well, space planes would obviously use control surfaces to roll, pitch, and yaw
  18. the question: when your engines have gimbal enabled, are you wasting Delta-V since the thrust is sometimes vectored at an angle rather than parallel with your ship? if it happens IRL, is it also modeled in KSP?
  19. what could they possibly add to KSP that would warrant an entire sequel rather than an update?
  20. Product of a few IRL days of work... set to burn to Laythe later this evening, provided i dont decide to make any changes
