  1. go with an AMD processor. you'll get the most bang for your buck. unless you have unlimited funds of course. also overclock
  2. you know, SQUAD should really either: a) enforce the use of this section: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/forumdisplay.php/55-Mission-Reports or remove said section
  3. if i understand the metaphor correctly, to exploit the oberth effect wouldnt one need a smaller hammock
  4. and the SRB exhaust looked so much better. also, when approximately did 'no swearing' become a rule?
  5. KSP and CS:GO are my two most played games atm. not sure which i play more
  6. clear cache/history. edit: oh and works fine for me 2
  7. i landed a probe on Dres using only RCS for the whole mission
  8. its easy. Kerbal starts with a K, which is the 11th letter of the English alphabet. the square root of 11 is around 3.3, which rounds to 3, so the first letter is C. and so on. so, the alternate kerbal(s) are the cbda'ac(s)
  9. TWR is only important when lifting off a planet/moon. there, the more thrust you have, the less fuel you submit to gravity. in space however, it makes no difference. you will just have to burn for a while. if you think about it, its simple. its a thrust to WEIGHT ratio. there is no weight in space (with the exception of artificial gravity designs, which have been proven to work in ksp). the thrust to weight ratio depends on the gravity of whatever planet you are on.
  10. to clarify, was your plane doing an actual "barrel roll", or the often neglected but more accurate "aileron roll"?
  11. in the OP, i was really just trying to say that the amount of struts the average player uses is absurd...
  12. thanks, i checked there already, and i could not find it. update: turns out there is a whole wiki page dedicated to the save file parameters: http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Orbit
  13. while i may be able to calculate on paper whether the lander technically has enough delta V to reach orbit, id like to know if i can do it in practice (efficiency of engines in atmosphere, TWR, when is the optimal time to gravity turn, also my piloting skills are all factors that will influence the lander's success independent of delta V). i will take your advice though, thanks.
  14. hey, i want to test out a Laythe lander to see if it can reach orbit FROM laythe, but i dont know what the REF value for laythe is so i can edit the persistence file. anyone know what it is? thanks
  15. there's a built in tutorial. the forum shouldn't have to answer this kind of stuff
  16. eventually, you start building large enough such that both locking gimbal, AND sh*ttons of struts are needed to stay in one piece
  17. are you saying that your rockets have more jebs (EVA ONLY, WHEN THEYRE IN CAPSULES THEY DONT COUNT) than other parts combined?
  18. ok, you got me there, but even so, he is only a part when he goes on EVA (and when he does there is only 1 jebediah part ingame) so the resulting pie slice would be minuscule. furthermore, you would then have to count every other kerbal as a part and add a bajillion pie slices with size 0.
  19. sorry fellas, but Jebediah, nor Sheer Audacity are Stock Parts as of now.
  20. also, why delete when you can WHACK A KERBAL >: D
  21. good point, but the last thing this forum needs is another mechjeb "debate" (flame war)
