I'm hoping they will add some sort of unmanned pod so that you can land things on other worlds without the obligation to bring it back.
-
definitely gas giant. Its further away from kerbol = less delta-v required than eve or charr, has the most moons to visit, and no one really knows what delving into the gases will do to your ship. seems like landing on mars planet or venus planet will just feel the same except everythings red/purple.
-
Use three landing legs instead of 4. 3 points will always lay flat on any surface, which is why chairs with 4 legs wobble sometimes. also use the telescoping legs, as they protrude further (longer legs = less likely to tip). additionally, it seems like the telescoping ones are less likely to simply snap off on hard landings.

... I wouldn't hope by any chance you know how to install it? I thought I did it correctly but I still have the bug...
-
many thanks to you!

Hi, I watched a video and in it the guy mentioned he installed a mod that fixed the fuel consumption bug in 0.16. I didn't see it in the add-on section, I was wondering if anyone could direct me to it (if it even exists :3)? Thanks!

who's slamming dual cores?
-
your making me salivate. with a quad core system, but only 2.2 Ghz, naturally one of the cpus gets slammed, while the others sit around and do crap. maybe then ill be able to look at the horizon without throwing the framerate out the window

whats with the KerbalKams in the top picture? they look all distorted. Seanwig's head looks sliced off! -
A great many of us with mid-end computers (low enders being left in the dust eons ago) have experienced some lag with the game, especially once you start building ginormous rockets. This doesn't pose much of a problem usually, because you only have to suffer through it for a few moments after liftoff, and the ultimate target is only the Mun or Mimus. With nearby targets such as these, the according vehicles don't grow TOO too big. Some of us might chug along abit at first, but after you're out of the atmosphere, its easy going on our somewhat slower CPUs and GPUs. I've also noticed a trend in the Kerbal updates: every new version brings with it more lag. I suspect this version will be no different, particularly because of all the new things to simulate (more celestial bodies, higher detailed background sky, physical kerbals inside the cockpit, etc.). Now, when we launch an interplanetary rocket, it will be by no means small. The rockets we take to other planetary systems will no doubt have many times more parts and pieces than our mun and minmus rockets. coupled with the expected increase in lag, I wouldnt be surprised at all if the game simply crashed before it even rendered on the launchpad (on those of us who have budget PCs anyway). My request is that along with all the other cool stuff coming in 0.17, some time is invested in making enormous performance improvements (multicore support (if it isnt there already) would be nice too ). Thanks for reading.

if the 40 Gs happened during re-entry, it was sustained exposure. I saw the meter flip up to 15 (thats the max) and stay there for at least 4 seconds
-
SRBs are fine too. if you keep the liquid engines at max throttle all the way out of the atmosphere, you might as well replace some with SRBs. They have a much higher thrust:weight ratio (especially the smaller yellow ones), which is vital for a good ship. Only problem is they don't burn for as long, and are slightly more prone to exploding. Just think about it: once they add some sort of campaign to the game, SRBs will be non-reusable, and therefore more costly. yet, they will still be useful enough to keep them ingame. theyre just that awesome. also, why not use stock parts? the mods that ive tried seem to make the game far too easy, especially since there's no cost to parts yet.

[UNOFFICIAL/FANMADE] 0.17 Discussion Thread 2

what if its like Io (or possibly Europa) where its parent planet's immense gravitational force along with that of nearby moons churns the inside and heats it up? -
frankly, yes. if suffering through 40 Gs has no effect on the crew or ship whatsoever, I'd rather they just take out the G Meter altogether.
-
you goggle at the capsule, I marvel at the payload bay. finally!
-
Its not often I get to truthfully say lol. lol.
-
Looked back at my flight records and: | How could that kerbal have possibly survived?
-
maybe in the future they'll add a hinge part so you can fold up and put out your wings like the real version.
-
I've taken a ship or two out of Kerbol's SOI, but that was in a previous version. In the most recent version, I got a rocket to go closer than 2,000 KM of Kerbol, and was going over 100 miles per second. but why are we talking in miles? metric is bettter

I've heard talk about a lava planet, but have seen no pictures to confirm this. are any images of this lava planet available?
-
If I buy the game do I get all future updates free?

please dont make this one of those games that you have to either pay for a limited subscription, or for extra content. that kinda bullcrap gets on my nerves. -
pretty nice unless you consider that the 2nd to last stage butchered the fuel bug pretty badly. however, even with unlimited fuel, that stunt requires skillz
-
My guess is no, I have a quad core 2.2 Ghz (rated 6.9/7.9 on windows experience index - calculation per second) and it slows down when atmospheric physics kick it, or when i look at the horizon. the games that i play that take make use of all 4 processors rarely slow down. perhaps a mod could address this?
-
I would generally avoid bailing... because if the capsule survives impact, your friend has infinite RCS pack fuel to entertain you while you wait for a rescue mission!
