That's so silly. Hiw does a temperature scan from Kerbin's surface become more significant when studied over Duna?

[1.8.x] KerboKatz - SmallUtilities - 18.10.2019
Wjolcz replied to SpaceTiger's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Hmmm, yeah. I realised that after posting here. Sorry to bother you. -
[1.8.x] KerboKatz - SmallUtilities - 18.10.2019
Wjolcz replied to SpaceTiger's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Eh... OK, let me explain: I want to play the career without science points. In order to do that the tech would have to be researched with something else (rep/funds) and science experiments would also have to output some other currency (rep/funds). That way all the resources keep being meaningful even when the tech tree is fully unlocked (only two of them; no more useless science points). It might seem like a small cosmetical change to the whole system, but it's way more complicated than that. I have it partially explained in the thread linked in my signature. -
[1.8.x] KerboKatz - SmallUtilities - 18.10.2019
Wjolcz replied to SpaceTiger's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@SpaceTiger would you be able to make a mod that gets rid of science points entirely (tech for cash, cash for rep, experiments for rep, etc.)? I don't know much about modding, but @nightingale said here it would be somehow possible once 1.2 comes out. -
So I saw this and now that 1.2 is out I'm looking for a mod that let's me research tech tree nodes for money and get reputation for preforming science experiments (which then I would be able to turn into cash). Basically career mode without science points. Is there a mod that does this, or maybe someone is working on it but it hasn't been fully released yet? I can help balancing it if anyone is interested in creating this. Make it happen and I will never again rant about career mode. That's all I need.

Does anyone else feel dirty when using Mobile Research Labs?
Wjolcz replied to More Boosters's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The problem isn't with how the lab works. The problem is with how the science system works. Science should not be connected to tech research the way it's connected right now. It only creates problems. You either have to grind to progress or you get too much science. IMO Research on other bodies should generate reputation, which influences your funding, and the funding is what you should be using to keep launching the rockets and researching more parts. Science should be that extra icing on the cake. Fulfilling the missions should be the priority, not unlocking the tech tree (although it's important too). Money and reputation is important even when you're done reseaeching the tree. Science becomes obsolete at that point and you only exchange it for even more money, ending up with millions that you have not much use for too. Or we can just feel dirty about using the lab. Or wait for a mod that gets rid of science points completely. -
New crossection for bases and bigger rovers
Wjolcz replied to NWM's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Yup. The game is definitely lacking some base parts. -
Player to player contracting
Wjolcz replied to Jonfliesgoats's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I agree. It would be great for challenges to have some sort of mission creator in which you would set destinations and objectives and then send it to someone, or provide some sort of seed for it. People would just go into the game, type it in and the mission would get created. -
Well, yeah. Graphs coupled with experiments that gather data all the time would imo be way better. You would just keep them running while performing fast flybys, or going through the atmosphere, or whatever other engaging situation doesn't allow you to spam click the experiments like crazy because your forgot about action groups. Right now the science gathering process looks more or less like this: 1. *click click click click click* 2. *a witty text pops up* 3. tl;dr just gimme dem otherwise useless tech research points lol

Rewarding underwater exploration
Wjolcz replied to NoobTool's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Some people are already unhappy about the amount of spaceplane parts and you want to see underwater exploration? Probably won't happen. -
Meh. I'd rather create my own modes with science, reputation and funds as togglable. Tech tree, buildings and vessel costs with an option to change the resources they are dependent on. And actual strategies that act as mission filters.
-
Yeah, I don't think it will happen any time soon (not in this century, that's for sure), but it's pretty interesting to think about.

Roscosmos flag
Wjolcz replied to Anatoly Nikolaev's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
And what about that one that arrived at Mars recently? With the Schiaparelli lander. -
So actual data records with graphs and such? If so, yes please. I'm sick of the current "science" system which has almost nothing to do with actual science and more with the research of parts. Not only it seems wrong, but also limiting* and once you finish the tree there's not much motivation to keep gathering it. *Space companies gather scientific data only if it's helpful in the process of researching new parts and components. They don't send incomplete probes to other planets to make a bigger fuel tank. In KSP that's the only way.

Naaaah. Don't think so. Cool name though. EDIT: Actually, after rethinking this, how this "state" could be of any international meaning is asteroids hauling. Such "country" would bring asteroids to the station, mine it and sell the precious stuff. Just like it is here on Earth. There are small countries that have almost no natural resources but offer things others don't. Not sure if it's a good example or not, but isn't Switzerland this kind of country? They have almost no natural resources AFAIK and yet offer services on a level that no other states do (Banks? Swiss knives? Cool guns? Watches? Cheese?).

Forget about DLCs and create a new game instead
Wjolcz replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Fair points. But I don't think they can expect a lot of money income from the PC players. -
1.3 - What will it have?
Wjolcz replied to KAL 9000's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
It will have tears and screams of crying toddlers. The fact that a year or two ago this kind of speculation thread would get immediately locked makes me think even mods don't care much about this forum anymore. The devs are mostly gone. Just prepare yourselves for the end of KSP. -
Forget about DLCs and create a new game instead
Wjolcz replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
You know the only difference here is paying/not paying for it, right? It's not like if they make a paid DLC for visuals the game will run smoother. It's the same stuff. "If I pay for it it's better and runs smoother." What's with this money placebo effect? -
So I see that the contract system hasn't got fixed. Why am I not surprised? Good thing I didn't even touch the career mode. We need Strategia-like filters, not more tweaks and weighting. The missions offered by the Mission Control are FUBAR. You can't keep tweaking something that is already broken.

Forget about DLCs and create a new game instead
Wjolcz replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Maybe my imagination is underdeveloped but I really struggle to come up with something for a KSP's DLC that isn't offered by mods already. They'll really have to think hard to create something fresh and new. -
I don't know if it's been suggested already or not, but: Screw DLCs. Make a fresh new game instead. I just want to say that I have no motivation to buy any DLC for this game simply because there are tons and tons of mods out there that offer almost everything that can be added to this game. I say make a completely new game (still with Kerbals as main protagonists) about atmospheric flight. Piston engines, jet engines, rocket engines for planes and stuff like that. Keep the current LEGO (or procedural) approach and add multiplayer. I don't know much about coding a game but I can imagine creating a new one with intention of adding MP eventually is probably easier than creating DMP for KSP. So the main points are: -Aircraft pilot career -Earth-sized Kerbin -Atmospheric/weak rocketplane engines -Multiplayer -Multiple launch sites -Since this wouldn't be the peaceful KSP we all know anymore I can easily imagine guns being added at some point. Who knows, might be fun. Would you buy it? I definitely would.
