  1. Where is this damn "Eject" button?
  2. "Well, I got that theory that EVERYTHING is round, except the Earth. Why? Because conspiracy."
  3. Well, it might be that the clips were rendered using Space Engine's built-in video system: you put SE in "Immediate generation" mode (that is, everything will load/generate and then the frame will show up), and then start a frame-by-frame video recording. What you will see will not be real time, and it will be tricky to move the camera (this is why the Spacecraft camera mode is there), but smooth movements and maximum resolutions are guarenteed. Give yourself some 30 Gb of free space, and then when you're done, use VirtualDub or RAD Video Tools to assembles all the frames into a single video. You are now ready to edit and send that to youtube, vimeo or whatever !
  4. Yeah, but no. SSDs are not as efficient in RAID mode, plus that destroys the SSDs with unnecessary disk operations. Having an SSD, it feels so good to be able to boot your computer in 45s, and load KSP in 20, but it is still loading time. What OP speaks about is NO loading time. But there, even Space Engine has a loading screen, even being a "full" procedural universe generator (it is fully procedural when outside the Milky Way, but even not starting from there takes time). Even if you have nothing to load, nothing to generate, even creating the geometry takes time. You can't spawn 500k+ triangles in a micro-second.
  5. As long as there will be content to load, there will be loading screens. But, they are all more or less disguised now (think at the last Tomb Raider, you have to go through tunnels to load the extra levels, the loading is disguised, and to the user, everything seems seamless).
  6. Banned for having 13 blog entries.
  7. Button pressed, away the booster goes.
  8. Oh dear ... I came back for the dead, look at my old threads ... AND THIS IS STILL GOING? Wow, I thought all the users would be like wanting to kill me for not being here, but apparently not! The use of the API is so small and "bare bones" that it'll survive through the upcoming versions I'm sure! I'm updating the title anyway. Talking about the mod itself, I'm not saying I'm necessarily abandoning it (because I play less and less KSP, and so I am less on less behind my mods trying to fix 'em), but I doubt I'll be reactive at all the bugs you have/will dig up. So to answer the questions: -- Will there be more flashy visual signals? - Well, maybe. I got the idea after playing some Lock On (I'm sad that I can't find the disk anymore, with my new computer I got everything formatted, anyway), and the Nagging Nadia refers to those voice the onboard computers makes to you when you're hard on the machine. But there's no visual signal on the HUD (I know there's lights and button and stuff, but still) so implementing them would be kind of off the theme. I don't really know. Maybe the next guy will come and add them and I'll be perfectly fine with that, maybe I'll do it, maybe not, but in the waiting time I'm sure there's another mod that does this already. There's already screen messages if you want something. -- Will you change the sounds? - No. I'll not change the sounds, the theme of them or make them "reversed Spanish" or whatever. I know that breaks off immersion, but it is still a mod for you to quickly react, so you have to know what's going on, instead of hearing something and being like "Uhh what's that sound?" as the ship crashes miserably. And I don't want you to go here and yells at me because the alarms are not straightforward either -- So can I change the sound myself? - You are allowed to it! You can even publish your work if you want! I'd love to hear what you guys will do. Unfortunately I don't think there will be a way to put different sets at once, so drag and drop and overwrite will be the key here. All the sounds are in GameData\SolarLiner\Sounds\GPWS. Filenames are pretty straightforward too. -- Is there a GUI on its way? - Tricky question. Last time I played with KSP/Unity API to make a GUI made the whole game go kerbally boom. I kinda need someone to babysit me through the creation of it, that's for sure! -- Will it support <Any mod> ? - Meh, I don't know why you would like it to "support" any mod, and further more if you do not have all the mods it'll mess up with the game more than anything. Deadly Reentry is different because I based my Over G and (not used) Overheat curve from the one that it uses (might have to look again to see if it has changed). But it's only a guesstimation based on rough tests so that might need some tweaks there too. -- Can you add an alarm for <Any event> ? - Yes. And No. I think if I plan on actively working on it again (can happen, I'm a strange person you suddenly gets back to projects dead long before ...) I'll add an alarm for node, that way you can place it anywhere and be happy with it. But the lack of GUI is what prevents me from actually including lots of more sounds, with tweakable behavior and all the fancy stuff. Bingo Fuel had been planned (the sound is there), but unfortunately I must have raged at myself not being able to find a suitable implementation on how to trigger bingo fuel alarm, because I didn't implemented it afterwards. So yeah, I'm happy my first mod got some hype and downloads! Sorry if I appear as "the guy that never finishes what it starts" ...
  9. That is not allowed. Parents have nothing to do in this game. This post's number is now my number of points.
  10. And it fits with the general Android idea: there's only so much devices that uses Android as their OS that you can say it's modular. I'm sure there's somewhere where you can describe how you want your phone, and then have a list of devices that are presented to you. I got the same feelings when I watched Apple keynotes than i watched SpaceX live coverages: the primary thing to how it is all planned out is to make the customers accept contracts, whether it's satellites manufacturers or phone users. They make you feel they are explaining the tech, but they're just hitting you with geeky words, and covering you with facts that say "we're the best so you have to buy us". I'm gonna admit it though, I never watched a Google/Android keynote.
  11. Well, sure. Having to pay for each and every app you want published, after developing it using the only Mac setup allowed, and payed for the API, I think that malwares creators are a bit tired. But I still think that having a free, cross-platform IDE using one of the (if not the) most powerful languages (Java) instead of a proprietary copy of C that you'll need to learn all over again, and a free API, is better. Yay Google! Also, a developer account costs 20$ and you can put as many apps as you want. And after 4 years of browsing the Google Play store (and before, the Android market), I never came across any malware. Nah, nah. Apple started yelling at Samsung when they started using Android because they were making more profit then them (well, this is all sayings on my part, it may be not the original thought process from Apple, but looking at the number it seems pretty obvious to me). They yelled at Samsung (and not Google) for the Pinch zoom, the keyboard, the one tap share, etc. while this was all on Android and not Samsung. Or, if they wanted to do things right, they would have to yell at Motorola, Sony, HTC, etc. and put the whole world against them. It is only when everyone saw that they were yelling at the wrong person that they started claiming copyrights on Google directly. But, don't start me on the "they stole things". Please, The first GUI with mouse interaction that Apple made was stolen from a little company that patented it, and Apple just ate them to gain the patent. (This is why Windows had to use double-click by the way, because the single click was patented by the company that lated was earned by Apple. Now that the patent is not actual, Windows can use single-click (this is an option in Win7 and 8 BTW, but isn't activated by default)) Android is an open source project, owned by Google, so that a BIG point to me. I'm not a Google fanboy (oh wait, maybe I am ), but the fact that Android has support from Google services natively is a thing that I love, and the fact that it is open source is a thing that I love too. Now, Android natively runs beautifully (I suggest you to test Nexus devices, these are the best to experience the power of Android), CyanogenMod is a project that makes it possible for some devices to run newer versions, or even modified Android versions (because open-source). It is absolutely NOT mandatory, it is just a plus that geeks like me love. For some reason Samsung didn't want to roll on the 4.4 KitKat version to the Galaxy S3 and S3 Mini, so that's why I put CM11 into it, to have KitKat, that is the best of all the Android versions. About Android versions, too. YOu don't like Android because it is named after confectioneries? So I can legitimately hate iOS versions because they only put a number after them, right? The only thing that I like with iOS is the graphics. iOS 7 is simply beautiful. But I'd rather have a working Citroën 2CV then a grounded Lanborghini, for that matter. The price, also, and I'm not stopping on phones here. Why? Why would you make me pay 2 grands for a computer that can be only be used for basic gaming (Haha, Minecraft and KSP under 150 parts), when I can make a PC that can run Watch_Dogs in 1080p 60fps, for the same price ? Or have 2 laptops the same configuration for less than that? I guess I pay for the extremely slick design the remaining $1200 ... The phone, because we're on that. Never I've seen an ad that brags about the specs of the phone (except for the Retina display, which didn't quite needed a proper name), but rather for the design, that "it is cool to have an iPhone". I know for a fact that I never seen a Samsung phone with a smashed display (and mine survived 100+ falls screen first), but I've seen several falls of iPhone and iPad that went all smashed. But that's the only good thing I have to tell about Samsung itself. I probably hate as much Samsung as I hate Apple, but not for the same reasons. Primarily, they just ruin my Android experience with their TouchWIZ thing and all the Samsung thing that are bound and cannot be removed unless rooted. In fact, I removed everything Samsung related (well, except the phone itself, but only because I have it and it works for now). My next phone will probably be a Sony one. So this post is more on the iOS versus Android than Samsung / Apple post. Android is more popular over the geeky communities, because of it's flexibility, and the fact that you can have total control over it. Once rooted (takes some things to do but it is easy enough and safe enough, but it wasn't made for "basic" users in mind), you have absolutely total control over it, and it becomes even better (when you're a geek like I am ^^). iOS on the other hand, does not allow you to do things manually, there's always an "Apple" something to "help" you do it: iTunes is probably the best example. I never quite understood why the heel you need to go through proprietary software, convert to proprietary lossy format (when , if converted from MP3, makes the music even worse), when you could just open the SD card on the device and put your WAV, OGG or MP3 (or whatever) files directly in there. Maybe the default player will not support the formats, but VLC is here, and Poweramp, while not free, is the best of all the Android players out there. BUT, don't take me as an absolute Apple hater. I won't get mad at you for using an Apple product, you have your own reasons, and I have my own reasons (mostly above) not to use Apple products. EDIT: Wow I had things to say on this subject
  12. Except when it comes to Content ID and all that stuff. I'm a little YouTuber and there was some video that I had to re-upload with half a second muted or changed because YouTube auto tagged a "copyrighted" thing from nowhere. This was especially true when I tried to make a Tomb Raider series back then in French (when I first started the channel); almost every cutscene was copyrighted and taken down. Maybe there will be good things with this, but expect a lot of weird-to-bad things happening to Twitch: Google+ for example. Or maybe worse: Twitch gets merged with YouTube streaming and bye bye future Twitch ...
  13. Almost all the STS boosters have been recovered successfully, they're using parachutes even. SpaceX has its Grasshopper proof of concept which isn't even using parachutes. "That unbalances the game" - Well, if for you, "balanced" means having no struggle whatsoever in building rockets even with the Funds restriction, then this does not even "unbalance" it. Why don't we make it so that we get 50% back or something, the same way that recovering ships far from KSC decreases the recovery percentage? Also, not every single stage needs to be recovered. Massive 1st stages that contains a lot of parts, yes, but single/two part side boosters may not need recovery at all.
  14. KSP does not start Steam by its own, so yes, if you start directly the .exe it will not start it. I'm going to defend Steam a little here: "It is hard to navigate to KSP" - Well, in Steam, right click the game, select "Properties" and in the "local files" tab, you have a button that says "browse local files". 3 clicks to go! - Steam servers are better, I had no problem downloading the 0.24(.1) version. - Insta-sharable screenshots! If one day KSP goes exclusively on Steam (which I think is not going to happen anytime soon) : - With the Steam Workshop integration you would be able to share crafts, save games, and publish mods. - Easy to implement multiplayer framework using Steam servers, with downloads to set up custom servers - Achievements (although custom achievements could be made, and a mod already exists for that) I'm not trying to convince everyone to go and take the Steam version, but I'm saying here why I prefer Steam over anything else for game deployment (and of course over Origin or UPlay )
  15. Banned for banning someone mentionning a mechanical arm, while having a poney wearing a mech arm in its signature.
  16. E:\Nathan\Sounds\Music\Trance\Refractor\Butterfly- Remixes\Danny Darko - (Like a) Butterfly (ft. Jova Radevska) [Refractor Remix].mp3 Hmmm ... Actually I don't remember why this is on my clipboard ...
  17. It's pushing you towards a interstellar orbit. Waiter! There's Yoda in my soup!
  18. Her hair in the 3D model, it's lovely I like the original drawing, but not the 3D renders. Something is wrong with the shading on her head, I don't quite know what.
  19. Ultimate Fan will cool the explosion down! Unfortunately it isn't powerful enough, it creates gamma rays that are projected to the poster below.
  20. Your signature ... Executed for Treason ! I think MJ2 is not that bad of a companion after all ... If only it could make coffee ... .
  21. Mine has lines in the back, and moreover the transparent version of mine can be put in any background ('cause of the black and white squares) :P

  22. The point is: there's actually a mod who is fighting another mod. "Install without user consent" haha, it is literally written in every single mod that use it (as it is a requirement to not be against the law, because ModStatistics dos sends anonymous statistics data (yes I keep using that word), but hey, nobody got time to read, right? It's like these Terms of Services, or the license agreement: everyone accepts it, but little-to-nobody actually reads it. Also, I'm calm as always, I'm just debating the fact that this mod fights an other mod. And don't worry about me being an adult or not, I'm fine if your look at me like I'm a 5 yo child - I don't mind.
