  1. Warning, the spoilers have lots of pictures! So I've probably played the game 100 hours so far and only yesterday got around to making a successful Mun/Minmus lander. I saw a post by someone on here about their first landing (with a vid) and decided to it was time to try it out. I based the lander portion of this rocket off of something I saw on here, otherwise the rest is my brilliance(?)... First the rocket... It is all stock except for the little yellow RCS tanks the little rocket engines above the SRB. Both of those are from the Truss pack. Oh and Mechjeb... If anyone wants to use this and not the mod I could switch those out easily enough and upload the craft file. Can you tell I like winglets? I watched a vid of someone doing their first Mun landing and the responses were to focus more on the Navball, I had previously mostly ignored it (lets be honest the tutorial doesn't explain it well). But this time I figured out what was what and discovered it was essential to landing (probably a duh for the experienced flyers here). First Mun approach Coming in nicely Looking good Slowing down Looks like I still got a ways to go... Or not? Well that sucks... Ok try again, this time lets have the Mechjeb surface info up (hey at least I tried without first) Very close and a good speed me thinks. Almost there Yeah, kind of bounced... Maybe this time? Finally! Touchdown! Such a purty rocket... And almost a full tank left! Lets look around... Minmus? Sure! Man this will be a breeze compared to the Mun... Very close and at a good speed Anddd... Touchdown (I didn't take a screenshot of the first try where I bounced off a hill... And rolled over) Man EVA on Minmus is a blast! Well for me at least He just kept going... And here is my little Kerman stuck while trying to leave Time to go home! Didn't trust myself to land, so yeah, thanks Mechjeb. Love the aerobreaking And touchdown. Still got a whole tank of fuel and then some

  3. Can you use this with MechJeb or is that just too much to handle?

Also you could try using this mod: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/16347-PLUGIN-PARTS-0-16-RemoteTech-Relay-Network-Debris-automation-%E2%80%93-V-0-3 It allows remote control (you don't need Kerbals) of anything you put the appropriate part on. As far as I know you could have a part on each stage and assuming you have a proper command network setup than you are good to go.
  6. Unless this was posted before a change i don't see how the engine is to powerful. It has 50 thrust and between the battery and the engine it has a mass of 7, giving a thrust to weight of 0.71. I tried building a Ion only ship and couldn't get it off the ground. Even with the lightest pod, five ion engines and just one battery, still only had a thrust to weight of about .9. Anywho, this craft file didn't work for me. So I think he must have removed some of the parts or something.
  7. Just so you know, some people do read these and enjoy them (me!). So don't hesitate to write them even if they are short and/or redundant. I like a description on my parts.
  8. What is the default breaking force/torque for parts that don't specify? Just curious as I wanted to change some values of mod parts I've downloaded (as they are either too high or low IMO) but I don't know what the defaults are so I can't really get a good idea of what breaks when.
  9. @maxpanix: You are right. I'm just new to the jets. I guess you are supposed to use the engine bodies? Haven't built anything jet like yet that hasn't exploded...
  10. So I was having some issues with attaching your smallhardpoint and smallhardpointheavy to parts. It just wouldn't work. Especially with pieces from the Truss Pack. So I fooled around in the config and discovered that if you set the first number in the node_attach file to 2.00 (vs 1.90) it works a lot better and still lines up fine. Just thought I'd mention. Love all of the additions by the way! Do have a suggestion for another item to add. Some sort of jet engine mount. A small one for the small engines and a larger one for the regular size. Just something that can be offset from the fuselage. Sort of like your hardpoints but that would work for jet engines.
  11. I LOVE this pack. The parts are totally awesome and I use your fuel tank over the stock one almost exclusively because the stock ones are so bad because of low strength. Plus your stuff looks great!
