  1. I noticed that even with KT removed the stock game still crashed. After a reinstall the entire game Trans-Keptunian works (and well too). Most've gotten some crossed wires in the game itself for some reason.
  2. Here you go. I'm currently working on a less competent computer than I normally use for KSP, so I can imagine that a WIP like this might not be able to run all those new planets. But it happens even with just the bare KT files. No textures, planets, anything. Very weird.   5. As GregoxMun said, changing orbits wouldn't break most if any saves. Even if it did several games have shown that community nor the media don't care at all, if the reason is warranted. Minecraft has had some pretty big overhauls since 1.0 and games like Europa Universalis IV and Crusader Kings II have also had updates the broke savegames when they overhauled their world maps. So I wouldn't worry to much about that.
  6. I will definitely be testing a branch of my mod on this. Since I know all the issues my varied planets and moons face. The biggest bug the Kopernicus+RSS+KittopiaTech combo is facing are the issues caused by Kopernicus not separating the template body and the new body correctly. Biomes for example are always applied to both the template and the new body, using ocean bodies as templates messes up the templates height map (the oceans are lowered), etc. If you're able to fix that, then custom planet/moon mods would jump ahead light years in terms of quality. That being said, the things you fixed are already pretty substantial and fix a lot of the bugs on my list. One bug that's unique to atmosphere planets btw, which you would not have seen with your atmosphereless bodies is a band of transparency occluding the rings of ringed planets, like so:

  8. Could be ATM, but I have yet to check it myself to see for incompatibility so I can't say for sure. Have you checked the known issues/incompatible mods in the OP of this thread? Might be a mod you didn't mention that's on there.
  9. I think your underestimating how far 100 KAU is in-game. I did a quick calculation and a Hohmann transfer that far would take 179 years. But yeah sure, go ahead. Might be a good idea to make it so that it's fully playable standalone. I imagine there are people out there who'd want dwarf planets like that without OPM. I'll see what I can do.
  10. I'm a big fan of the procedural payload fairings that Squad is going to add in 1.0. I love it when my rockets look streamlined and with the new aerodynamic system that will be introduced in 1.0 too, making things aerodynamic will be very useful or even necessary. One area where payload fairings won't do much good streamlining things is with engines. Those have had fairings for a while now and coupled with several sizes of adapters can produce pretty streamlined rocket stages. The big issue with the current implementation of engine fairings is that they're not versatile at all: they come in only one size. A 1.25m engine will only have a 1.25m to 1.25m engine fairing. With the non-dynamic fairings that we have now means that you run into problems when you for example put a small engine beneath a larger tank (ex. 1.25m engine on 2.5m tank). This can often be a useful building style, but the 1.25m fairing makes it look bad and would be not be very aerodynamic. Another problem arises when you put a smaller engine above a larger tank (ex. 2.5m engine above a 3.75m stage). Such tapered engines fairings have been used for a lot of real-life launchers such as the Saturn V (S-II to S-IVB stage), but are impossible in KSP. Making the engine fairings more dynamic would allow for much more versatile designs and make streamlining your launch vehicles much easier. There are two ways to this in my eyes: 1. Non-procedural: pre-made fairings like the current system but more fairings for more situations. A 1.25m engine for example could have 3 fairings that appear based on the situation. The first is the standard 1.25m to 1.25m one. The second is one that is applied when the engine is attached to 2.5m parts both on top and the bottom (the top often being a fuel tank and the bottom the decoupler). The third would be a tapered fairing that appears when you have a 1.25m part on top and a 2.5m part on the bottom. 2. Procedural: the fairing automatically extends from the top attachment size to the bottom attachment size. It doesn't matter if it's 1.25m to 3.75m or 3.75m to 1.25m. The advantages of this is that it will make it easier for mods to make engines work with the new system: larger sizes such as 5m would be supported out of the box and modders would need to spend less time on making fairings for their engines. What do you think?
  11. It could be made so that the button goes from level X timewarp to level 1 timewarp sequentially. It'd be less work than tapping the lower timewarp button repeatedly and maybe even save a second or so. That would already be a great help.
  12. You can complete station contracts by expanding existing stations, but it's not mandatory or explained well. A contract that really wants you to expand an existing station would be better than anything the existing contract can do, as it would add a feeling of progression.
  13. I love it when people take our mod and just run with it. That 'reterraformed' Slate looks awesome! The hows and whens of the cataclysm that stripped Slate of its atmosphere and oceans are vague, even to me. Realistically speaking, the asteroid impacts visible on the moon could have probably led to the removal of the atmopshere/ocean. The mountain ridges however are purely tectonic in nature, just like on Earth.
  14. I noticed that the new O-25 and LV-1B engines don't have a fuel gauge displayed when activated, like engines normally do. No doubt a result of basing it on their stock inspirations, which still hasn't been fixed by Squad. Makes them less intuitive to use, so it'd be great if you could fix that. Also the O-25 doesn't have a bottom attach node. Is that intentional?
  15. No plans for dwarf planets like that. We're currently focusing on finishing the new gas giants and their moons. Once that's done we'll try to make existing dwarf planet Plock more interesting (can't wait what New Horizons will show us). Stock Eeloo is already barely visited by people, so making a dwarf planet like Eris or even crazier Sedna (Streetwind makes an excellent point why its orbit is undoable for KSP gameplay) would a lot of work for little return. After that I'd rather do something like a 67P-like comet. That's a much more doable goal for most players and is also more interesting than Eris or Sedna (which have little of interest aside from their orbit).
  16. Good idea. Might be a good idea to couple this with adding traction to all terrain types. The sands of Duna or the ice of Minmus should feel different when moving across it.
  17. The tech progression is indeed a big problem. I hope during the balancing for 1.0 they manage to fix that. It's impossible to balance sandbox and career at the same time and have both be equally awesome. Career really needs the feeling of progression and thus undoubtedly better tech over time. Generally speaking most OP-ish engines have some drawback or another that makes sure they wouldn't outclass all other engines in every single situation even at the end of the tech tree. Sandbox should be balanced by players themselves, by restraining themselves from constantly using an engine they consider OP. On the topic of larger xenon tanks: only if we get more advanced electric propulsion. Bigger engines like VASIMR thrusters or MPD thrusters can all run on Xenon (no reason to add another resource just for those engines) and they'd really need the bigger engines compared to the small ion engine in the game now.

I voted Yes to the poll early after it was made and have been on the fence since the discussions really started, but you've finally convinced me to switch to No. The time frame wouldn't be much different either with a couple months dedicated to adding the new features and releasing it as version 0.91 and a few weeks after that for fixing all the issues that those big new features bring with before releasing it as 1.0. It wouldn't satisfy the people who want even more out of 1.0, but it'd be better than launching a game with unresolved issues. Those issues will pop up, because some people just hate Early Access and thus so 1.0 will bring in thousands of new players spending dozens of hours each on the game and breaking it in previously unknown ways. How interesting career mode is to new players is hard to pin down by the community, as the members generally forming the debate are people who have been with KSP for a while. Jedensuscg joined in July 2013, so he's probably evaluating the current state of career mode with some experience. The veterans experienced much of what the game has to offer solely through sandbox and people who've been with us for a year or so experienced it through the career mode now called 'Science Mode'. Only those who've played it starting with 0.90 have some inkling on what it's like for a newbie to play 1.0's career mode. Personally I find career mode boring, simply because I've experienced everything already through career mode or mods. I'm wondering if it's possible for veterans to assess how much fun career mode is for those who will join us with 1.0, since we've had a different experience with the game.
  19. We've gotten some more info on the aero model recently and I think there will be enough overlap between FAR/NEAR, real aerodynamics and KSP's future system that it's a valid enough comparison.
  20. Some people have been saying that procedural fairings mean that you can launch a ridiculously wide, bulbous payload on a rocket. So I tried it out using NEAR and MechJeb (for reproducible results): The payload is the same in both cases. The heavier fairings on the bulbous version results in a slightly lower TWR, but not enough to really influence the outcome (1.55 to 1.51). In conclusion, if you want to have a successful launch, you need to make your fairings streamlined. I imagine the bulbous fairing would be even worse with FAR. I chose NEAR because I think it'll be close enough to what Squad is doing: not too complicated, not too simple.
  21. We just never had that issue. The way we add them just works. I suggest just taking a look at what we have and copying that.
