  1. Yes you could be wrong- but you're not. I am such dork. I totally have MC2 installed.
  2. Hmm... A. Feel like an ass, sorry. B. if it is not your MOD I actually don't know which one it is since the only contract packs I have installed are Tourist pack, Space Station Pack and Field research pack. C. It is currently totally irrelevant since reverting my flight and relaunching on a slightly different trajectory fixed the problem. D. Still don't know what I did wrong the first time. E. Which brings me back to B. Since I don't know who to ask if I need help again. F. C'est la vie. Edit: you should really include your round 8 mission pack in your signature. I know it was for fun and to save the round 8 but it is part of KSP history and YOU MADE it happen.
  3. I am not sure if it is a bug or I am just doing it wrong. I tried to do the mission "Launch a new weather satellite" I set the weather core to the right module and frequency, and got the Satellite up to the correct geostationary orbit and got a green check on everything except having a line of sight to the weather station. But the weather station was nearly directly below me( I check to make sure it was not on the opposite side of the planet). What did I do wrong?
  4. Yet another MOD that screams Why the hell is this not stock.
  5. Na, I was thinking of doing it myself if not too hard then I looked at the PNG file and was like " oh crap that is going to be a lot of editing". Thanks though.
  6. I actually have a question? How hard would it be to take pics of my children, my wife, myself and well any one I can think of and make this ? just curious >
  7. Congrats on the latest release I hope things keep progressing for you guys, your dedication a patience is much appreciated.
  8. It failed or rather worked correctly when I tried to reproduce again tonight. I will keep an eye out for it though if it happens again as I go through career mode I will grab a screenshot and post.
  9. Thank you for the response. I am horrible with github just ask Nathankell when i tried to help him. I am not sure I have a clue on the github thing. As for the way point bug I tried to reproduce last night but no luck worked perfectly for me which means it is a sometimes bug. I will try again tonight if I get time. Sorry, for not being very helpful. I will try and post a github pull request if get time to tonight.
  10. Hi Nightingale, I don't have a bug to report but I am unsure how to accomplish the "take 'X' amount of tourist on a suborbital flight over (some place of interest)" missions. Am I supposed to land at that location, simply fly over it, or am I supposed to be in space but suborbital? I was in space and suborbital when I passed over location "X" and the icon disappeared from the map but there was no update to the flyover location part of the contract meaning (I am guessing) it had not completed. Launching 6 kerbals(five tourists and one pilot) into space is expensive especially early in career and even more so if the requirement of the mission is unclear. In addition in one place in the contract you say take five tourist to location "X" and in another to say fly over location "X" this is a bit of a logical contradiction and neither one says exactly what to do. Also I do appreciate this mod as well as your other work and thank you so much for your time and the time you have given to the KSP community.
  11. Good point, I think experienced players, (myself included) tend to forget how much they struggled with the game when they first played it, and that was back when it was a lot easier. Anyone who says it was easy for them when they started either works in the aerospace industry or could work in it or just plain isn't being honest with themselves. I know squad has struggled with this, they have said as much several times. You need to put on your special educators hat that lets you see through a young mind's eyes to see that just maybe this current edition may be too much for the new player. Also got to say, this: does not make much sense. Little green cartoony guys = appeal to children, 0 violence and gore = safe for children, Educational version = help teach, help children learn. My guess Squad definitely does want this game to pass the 10 year old test whether you think it should on not. I suspect in the end it will and guess what! it will still be fun, it will still be hard, and most people that love it now will love it then, and heck if you want it to be harder you can always play on hard mode (this is what it is for) or you can DL the realisim mods, I know that is what I will do. I don't see a need to compromise when you can have both.
  12. Doh... you are absolutely right. Edit: Restated what i said above to actually make sense. Used compression rather than friction.
  13. I did not say it was hard for me, I said it would be very hard for the new player. I have a degree in astrophysics and like I said above I have been playing along time and can figure it out and did. But when my first suborbital flight disintegrated from an 80 km altitude from the heat of reentry I am going to go ahead and say a new player is not even going to have a clue on how to fix that problem or even really where to start. If it can't pass the 10 year old test it probably isn't accomplishing what one of the early game slogans was "rocket science, how hard can it". Yes, 10 year olds should find the game fun, and NO they should not be expected to read a wiki page on atmospheric compression dynamics during reentry in order to successfully launch and land their second rocket. Yes the game should inspire them and encourage them to look up space flight info and even eventually guide them to building proper re entry capsules, but not before they have even got their feet wet. Edited: for scientific acuracy. It is too hard for a new player. THink about this for a second. you finally get past the hurdle of not burning up on reentry from a low suborbital (if you stick around that long to keep playing), only to have your parachutes ripped off because you deployed them too early, or to simply smash into the ground because it is now possible to have a velocity above parachute deployment speed all the way to the ground even from a low suborbital. It is not too hard for me I enjoy the challenge. But it is bad for the game and therefore bad for me if new players just walk away from the game in sheer frustration.
  14. WHo could say it is better than 1.02? It is not so much that their are more issues but that the issues introduced are very serious, more serious than the ones it fixed. I just scratching my head on this one.
  15. Ok I get wanting to add some realisim, though, I do have my questions about the realisim of the current stock settings, and it doesn't phase me much since I have been playing for nearly 3 years and know the game well enough to adjust to almost any change. But I am not sure it is the best choice for this GAME. The new setting make the GAME extraordinarily difficult for the beginner. If you make it very difficult for the new player guess what!... they don't like the game, and guess who does not buy the game!... their friends, and the friends of their friends. It is simply bad for the GAME. If I want i simulator quality there are mods for that (I am a fan of actually, thank Nathankell Ferram and Egg and all the others i missed) but it should not be stock. Also, the current discussion may be missing the mark a bit. Should this not be more about the fact that things now heat up a lot easier in atmo, but clearly they made the Atmo much less dense since it is much much harder to slow down enough to pull your parachute before impact. This means they increased the Heat from compression caused by air particles by at least a factor of 4 or more while decreasing the atmo density even further. It really is not about the parachute at all. Is this realistic perhaps but this it is a GAME not a simulator. I would bet most new players will walk away in frustration. As a huge fan of the GAME I hate to see bad things happen to it. EDITED: For scientific accuracy.
  16. Thanks again mate. Every time I download this mod, which is fairly often I wonder, "Why is this not stock?" Thanks thanks thanks:)
  17. I had the original mod installed and told myself this should be one of my must DL mods but I keep forgetting to DL it. I am still playing through 1.02 career mode, but only mods allowed on this play through are ones that I think should be stock. No part additions just sound and graphics enhancements mostly, plus common sense mods like science X and waypoint manager and smartstage and now this mod. This is definitely one of them!
  18. Doh, yep given my final velocity. At the altitude at which i reached my top speed escape velocity would be 2140.88 m/s. I guess I never stopped to calculate it.
  19. Shouldn't I be in both leaderboards? Thanks for adding me to the speed one
  20. Wait Why am I not on the leader board?? since I included pics and clearly did better than others still on the board??? - - - Updated - - - I could not see any evidence of cheating I was just wondering why I can't get that much out of the ship but the lack of a parachute would explain a lot of it.
  21. Hmm 2200 DV in one stage?? I was sure the limit was about 1600 where did the extra 600 come from?
  22. Yep he is then, But I am still in second on velocity since my posted speed was 2.781km/s and the current and only leader is posted at 2.726km/s however he can probably keep second place since clearly he was not out of fuel when he post that speed and was clearly doing closer to 3.1km/s - 3.5km/s when fuel ran out since at 3000+km he was still doing 1.3km/s while at 2900+ I was only doing 1km/s
  23. OK so I saw this thread when it was first shared by squad. I thought about it and said well it can't really be that hard. To be sure it is harder than the current game but really it was not that hard. In fact I think with some more effort escape velocity could be achieved (3.1Km/s-3.5Km/s). at which point you won't come back. So final altitude is infinity. in any case my top speed was 2.781 Km/s and as you can see in my final pic I would easily take 2 place. Rfmeijboom could easily run his pc forever and never reach max altitude since he has exceeded escape velocity. but in any case here is my entry, also no landing since I am close enough to escape velocity such that I would be simulating for days befor I returned to kerbin. http://imgur.com/a/hEcif#0
  24. Also worth noting you probably don't want them burning up while in reentry. So you do not want the initial deployment to happen until your are below heating threshold. In Other words below 10km.
  25. I dont mean to be bossy they are your mods after all but as a very long time player of KSP you can make guys like me wait for a bit we will still be there when you get around to us. The new players though... this mod is for them and if they are having trouble they may not be there when you get around to updating this. Just my two cents.
