  1. Most rovers could theoretically rove around forever, while a lander can only fly up and touchdown so many times. The relative slowness is acknowledged, but physics acceleration, "trimming" the rover to always move forward slowly, and the fact that you can indeed have other windows open over KSP makes rover exploration viable.
  2. My 0.18 save has been going for at least 6 years. Converting to 0.20 was a hassle.
  3. Parachute. Para+Chute. Edit: Also Decoupler.
  4. Pol was the God of plants and farming. Subsequent attempts to grow crops on Pol have so far been unsuccessful.
  5. I built a massive military resupply ship for my fighter squadrons, made a massive radial launcher, added a few struts, and then realized that I had neglected to actually connect any struts to the central ship. Richsby barely made it out alive, he had an unbalanced ship of 45 tons and only four nuke engines...the ship hit the surface at 160 mph. Thank goodness the command module was mounted at the top.
  6. It looks like modern art: "Spaceship and 144 100-watt bulbs"
  7. Protip: All command modules have different "rotpower" values. The higher that value, the faster you'll rotate. Stayputniks have the lowest or second-lowest rotpower values, so you're really not getting the bang for your buck there. For RCS: I can't exactly see your RCS ports, but I'm assuming they're near or on top of the center of the craft. That is the least efficient place to put them, at least for rotations. Put them on the outer rims of your ships for the greatest leverage. Also, ASAS is a !@$#& with big ships like yours. Use a an avionics package, much more forgiving, if not stack-mounted.
  8. Wait, what version might April 30th be? Around .19?
  9. No astronaut training facility could hold a saturn-V.
  10. This happens when you try to load .craft files from future versions/patches of the game. Use the Squad patcher to get you up to 20.2... and try again.
  11. There is a certain appeal to the old buildings, but I'm definitely looking forward to the new buildings
  12. Make a maneuver node so that your apoapsis marker intersects the Mun' s orbit. Assuming a zero inclination, circular orbit, start dragging that around by clicking the central circle and holding, then dragging it around your orbit. At some point, you should get a Munar encounter!
  13. Kerbal truck simulator 2. Make it happen.
  14. Blew up some ships with my new fighter ship. BOOM!
  15. The middle one has a nice patina-like an old photo.
  16. (44m/s=88mph) But I digress.
  17. What happens when that thing hits 44 m/s?
  18. Lazco Spacecraft's Controlled Explosions Division has publicly opened today, expressing full support to Spiritwolf against the violent Hanland group. After the development of some prototypes (the flight of one is depicted in the slideshow below) the F-1 Alamo is now being manufactured for use around the Kerbolar system. With seven salvoes of two light missiles (14 altogether) and a d/v budget of ~3500 once in orbit (can be refueled through two docking ports to ~4000,) and a Joolian transfer burn of only seven minutes, it is an ideal scouting craft. Order yours (Download) Here: F-1 Alamo (Joe is not, by any means, my real name.)
  19. Pressing shift instead of caps lock on approach to a space station. With the main engine activated.
  20. Red, tart really isn't my thing. Laythe or Eve?
  21. Builder, Modder, Space Geek, Astrophysicist. However, I am capable of doing things without Mechjeb, including docking, interplanetary, landings (not the pinpoint kind on atmo planets though )... pretty much anything. I use Mechjeb so I can mess around with other stuff when it's doing space in the background. Not heavily modder, I remove modpacks (le gasp) if I deem them too confusing or useless. Cassini-Huygens. Lunokhod. The Explorer satellite. Sputnik 1, 2, and 3. Lunar surveyor. Lunar prospector. The Phoenix mars lander. These have all been done by me. I am heavily space geek. I was wedged in the middle for the last one, but decided to go astrophysicist. Really, I'm more of a cinematic: I look for good shots, then screenshot. While I'm not necessarily efficient, I try and I learn in the process.
  22. Flew Jeb to Laythe to test out my new (and first!) Space fighter, the F-1 Alamo. Next in line is the B-1 Bristol, but that's tomorrow...
  23. Rocket pirouettes. But seriously, the VAB might give me a lot of grief, but the SPH I am convinced hates the notion of spaceplanes and has declared the construction of them an activity done only by heretics.
  24. Is it a big 3-man pod? If so, hope is still there-you just need to hit that one parachute hard enough.
  25. The old capital ship was flimsy and weak anyways, but you really can't blame the the Vanguard. No ship could hold up to a direct ramming.
