A post I made about the basics of Delta V and orbits
DerekL1963 replied to SlabGizor117's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Reasons you're getting downvoted because a) the title is misspelled, b) you insult the readers in your first caption, c) it's about the game, not real life. (You refer way, way too much to the game for it to be otherwise. Hint: There's no maneuver nodes in real life.) Really, despite your protestations otherwise, it's a pretty pedestrian game tutorial. -
I didn't say ice wouldn't sublimate, I said the atmosphere was too thick for sublimation cooling. Two totally different statements.
-
ZOMG - you just blew my swelling itching brain.

What are we aiming to see after this?

And does not a ring continue indefinitely? -
o.0 Yeah, I'm wondering where the OP spent years explaining all this as well... Because in twenty years on the 'net I've never seen anyone who thought it wasn't possible to stay warm on the Martian surface. The actual problem is the exact opposite - not turning the suit into a sauna. The atmosphere is too thick for sublimation cooling (as was used on the Moon), and too thin for for pretty much every other kind of cooling.

The Dragon 2's schedule problems aren't due to lack of funding. They're typical SpaceX overpromising and (way, way, way) later delivering.
-
Installing Kerbal Joint Reinforcement may also help.

No offense, but someone complaining about other people's writing style and trying to dictate other people's writing and play style don't have much of a leg to stand on when it comes to advising others "not to be so high and mighty".

[1.11] RemoteTech v1.9.9 [2020-12-19]

One obvious solution is to simply not put them in orbits leading or following the Mun... There's no particular reason a RT bird has to be in that orbit. -

Take a gander at the Jool-5 mission in my sig for some design ideas... -
This Day in Spaceflight History
DerekL1963 replied to The Raging Sandwich's topic in Science & Spaceflight
IIRC, it wasn't deliberately flown nose first, rather nose first was the natural stable orientation. Either way, Soyuz has quite the track record when it comes to 'sporty' reentries. -
Docked fuel pods keep disconnecting
DerekL1963 replied to troherg's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You also try a 'side saddle' mount kinda like I used on my Jool-5: Look at the drive units, you could mount your tanks 'flipped' (on top of the sidesaddle tanks). I'd use Sr. ports though, rather than Jr. The 'sidesaddles' are structurally attached, not docked. Here's how the core looked at launch. (See the thread linked in my .sig for more views, which may help you understand how it all fit together.) -
I'm just concerned about solar at Jool... I had big problems with that while I was developing my landers.
-
I think you missed that I specified 99% - not 100%. And I did so for a reason, the very same reason you specified. But even so, for at least one of those missing threads the first post was badly broken anyhow (due to the imgur album changes).

Why is China Struggling to Build Advanced Jet Engines?
DerekL1963 replied to Jonfliesgoats's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Yep. Technology in Real Life doesn't work like it does in the movies... It's not one-and-done. -
Honestly, I wonder if it's worth the effort... 99% of the content in the MechJeb thread (to use your example) is old and outdated, referring to older versions and no longer existing bugs.
-
I really don't understand people who don't grasp the simple concept that what is fun for them is not necessarily fun for someone else.
-
Yeah, "replacement". Hubble can see into portions of the IR and UV bands which don't penetrate the atmosphere. Everyone keeps banging on about resolution, but that's not the only measure of a telescope's capabilities.

What mod did the modules and solar arrays come from?

For Questions That Don't Merit Their Own Thread

My guess, convection flow. -
Your description leaves me with absolutely no idea what these parts are intended to be... And your Imgur album isn't much help because it's just a bunch of pictures with no captions.
