For hinges and rotators: //toggle parameters Rotatejoint = true Rotate axis = 0,0,0. "that's the x y z" Keyrotatespeed = 20.0 "that's the speed of movement" Rotatelimits = true Rotatemin = -10.0 Rotatemax = 10.0 Rotatelimitrevertkey = false Jointspring = 0 Jointdamping = 0 Onactivate = false Rotatekey = up Revrotatekey = down Fixedmesh = base Servoname = new joint. " name it what ever you like" For hinges replace the "rotate" word with the word "translate" Pretty easy. Using this you can make a jet engine rotate like a true VTOL engine. And stuff like that. Enjoy.

It's really simple. Say you want an animated landing gear on a vehicle, but have no idea how they have done it, damned robotics has a mod out there with a cylinder, a rotator, hinge, and stuff. Look at his examples. Or even better, download the yt1300 now don't try to run it, but look at the parts, specifically the boarding hatch and landing gear. Read the cfg files, below the general part parameters there is a section, that's all you need to animate anything. With a button console. The gods that be, and they will pipe in sooner or later, won't like this, but hey, modding is for everyone, not the elite few that have been doing it since forever, cut n paste, nothing wrong with that, everyone does it, only a few admit to it. I am a CNP guy.
-
People,, Don't you read the read me files? Windows is a W I P.
-
By now you have run into the classic definition on how to animate something. The good ol, "you have to build a pivot, a base, a node collider etc.." we'll I'm here to tell ya there's an easier way. CFG FILES. It can all be done there. Mumechservo module. Look at the parts cfg files, the lower half will do the trick. All you have to do is import the part, add that part of the cfg file, and adjust the three 0, 0, 0 parts for movement. Any part can be made to move. I even have a collapsible docking tube. Experiment, it's fun.

Kerbal Space Port... Good luck, PIRATE OUT.

Yeah, mars has no night life, well except for the fantastic Olypus Mons festival, but that only happens once every 26,000 years. Now for local excitement, try Titan! Great atmosphere. If you have access to FTL drives, and feel like killing a few hours, try Xlanthia, it's only 4 Lyrs away, but man can they party! Mars? Nah, it's so boring that even aliens don't want it.
-
Well an update, sorta.. The Falcon is pretty much balanced for flight, using linear rcs thrusters for steering, simple thrusters for solar flight, hyperedit for FTL drive in system, antigravity for landing, has animated gear, boarding ramp, it flies pretty good. HOWEVER, I developed this using 0.18.4. And when you run it using 19 anything, it becomes very unstable. Lol, new mechanics I suppose. It is still a huge model, and even though I reduced it a bunch, still pretty big. I think the main issue will be when using it in 19, I don't use 19. Will tinker with it a bit. Don't know if people will want it like this, but hey cut me some slack, I'm new at this stuff.... Cm
-
That would be huge! But if the model is good, and can be dismantled, .....hmmmmmm
-
Kinda wishing I had unity pro, seems to offer more tools and such, am cutting the textures down a bit. Just remember, I'm learning. Also I don't know about the rest of you, but I learn by taking things apart and re assembling them. Kinda a learn on the fly approach. I read tutorials, but nothing beats the hands on experience. If it ain't broke, take it apart and find out why?, lol....

well I have been playing the game for a while now, and I started thinking about the direction it should go in. As for the flight model, I think it's fine, leave it be. It works so don't fix it, now as for the space aspect of the game, they need to add things that affect the landing and surfaces of the worlds we have to play with. Gravity for example although it's good enough to have fun with, it is a major factor in getting to like our own mercury. And as for Jools gravity, I think approaching Laythe should be tricky due to gravitational tug. Now weather? That's where the golden ticket lies. Mars has severe dust storms, Venus? A pressure cooker, and the star? Wow, best of all the weather, solar storms that are dangerous, flares, all the good stuff that would make us build redundant systems into our ships. Comets, and asteroids, would be nice, an out limit to the solar system (Oort cloud) as it were with a near impenetrable boundary. Mysterious visitors to the solar system, better scientific equipment, an aricebo type array that has to be built. And finally, extra solar systems, But tweaking the flight models? Not really needed now. What do you think?
-
That's what I thought, didn't know if through the cartoons they added one, the cargo ramp I can possibly do.
-
Would need some images on the speeder bay, I did manage to add the dorsal docking tube, even animated it. Now you can dock in orbit with a nebulon b frigate.
-
The same, gives the specs on the ship and such.
-
I have the official Haynes manual on the YT series ships, and I looked up the 2000, and the 2400, they are both interesting designs, maybe if I can find meshes.. My actual ideas on add another star wars mesh, the corellian corvette, (tantive IV) ((rebel blockade runner)),
-
Hehe I have not released it yet, still a WIP.
-
Never thought of adding the speeder/cargo bay. What a cool idea. Well it's not quite ready for release, real atmospheric flight issues, tends to flip like a quarter above 500m/s. lol, guess ya can't go sublight in the atmosphere, and still fine tuning the systems, but soon this will be released.

What type of music do you listen to?
ThePyrateCaptain replied to Flymetothemun's topic in The Lounge
I like most "music" that being said, rap, don't qualify. -
Jool approach, had to revert to mummech variable engines for now. Having issues with the hyperdrive motivator as it were, waiting for test pilots to report in, ship is now fly able, no exhaust streams, (falcon don't have visible exhaust) haven't tried a landing yet, maybe later.

Yup, but look, it's really quite a simple notion, if after I'm done with it, and you don't want it, don't download it. Simple choice, if on the other hand you wish to use it, look at it, or whatever, then download it. I'm not forcing this on anyone. FREEDOM of CHOICE. As for the high tris? One, I am new to meshes and stuff, two I think reducing it would take from it too much, and three, this ain't no bottle rocket. Like I said, after it gets finished, download or not, makes no difference to me. I had pondered making this for my use only, but then thought others may enjoy dashing about a primitive system in the Falcon, judging by the general reactions here I think they do, face it, we all like space flight or else we wouldn't be here, and as spacers, we all saw Star Wars, and I bet we all fell for the Falcon. The two most top rated sci if ships ever are the USS Enterprise, and the Falcon, world wide. If you have nothing helpful to say here, then go light a fuse on yer bottle rockets, and go ohhhhh ahhhhhh, if you can help a guy out, by all means post me. (they know who they are) all the ships here have that in common, they are as common as they get in all Earth Bound scifi. Earth Made technology sucks. From 2001, to Prometheus, IMO, but the star wars galaxy? With thousands of years of space flight? So yes the model is huge, like it or leave it..... Captain.

Spending the entire day layed over at bespin, the main drives are not working up to snuff as of yet don't even want to worry about the HD, hover, and VTOL works nicely, not using variable mummech engines, you actually have to switch engines over, but so far when I do the main drives fail to produce thrust. "shades of the Empire Strikes Back?" it's not my fault! But oh we'll, will work on it all day today....
-
Strange, I thought that where it was, oh well if the moderators wanna move it they can, and by all means, be "that guy", lol.
-
Well, my two test pilots have been chosen, they have a model to examine, and help me smooth it up a bit. Stay tuned for updates.....
