  1. I love that you armored the engines They are often a weakspot of many crafts
  2. Bit of a showcase of my ligth interceptor formerly known as JSIF Current version but armed with older torpedo using just 4 sepratrons with no spin, new one uses 6 sepratrons with spin Direct hit! Amount of damage was sufficient, but not comparable to new 6 sepratron torpedo
  3. Well, thats why I want for my Laythe landing use mainly SSTO shuttles - you can pick, where you want to land
  4. Light interceptor on its way to orbit DCMS "Ark Roayl" in orbit of Kerbin waiting to be refueled and equiped for Journey to Laythe, notice 2 probes on sides and radial mounted defensive missiles
  5. ComradeGoat: Maybe - do you have parachute? You may deploy it and then cut it - and vent eva to repack it
  6. Best way how to get rid of capital ships in your system is deception and black flag operations. Take an example - those ships are very fuel hungry and every commander of capital ship will never miss an oportunity to get some fuel. So why not disguise some weapon system as a fuel tanker? Dradnought class battlecruiser aproaching to refuel Consequences of that maneuver Survivor examines the orbital weapon system which destroyed his ship
  7. I´ll use Aquila for one of the cruisers So the names for time being are: Damkina class motherships: DCMS "Ark Royal" DCMS "Viking" DCMS "Marco Polo" DCMS "Vasco Da Gama" Marduk class light escort cruisers (X-305 series): MCLEC "Essex" MCLEC "Anicetus" MCLEC "Aquila" MCLEC "Erebus"
  8. Well, space combat in real time would most likely to end up with opposing ships each on really stupid orbit, because of trying to catch-up/evade each other expending all dV For that matter for taking down a capital ship, which has decent acceleration to escape, is best to use some light fighter with high trust to weight ration and enough fuel, launched on ridiculously accelerating stage to provide minimum of time to evade. Only situation when I see real space combat can occur will be in defensive situation - defending stations, capital ships with no fuel etc...
  9. Well, crowdsourcing is hard... But you can get around some stuff you don´t like to do - I don´t like building space stations and ascent stages, so I can delegate that I keep my project stock In fact a lot of stuff I use is borrowed (Shade and Gladius from Macey Dean...) And most of my project is flying interplanetary on Temstars tankers and engine Clusters But co-ordinating whole thing is hard and we even have started to go interplanetary yet...
  10. donlokiman: I´m developing detachable re-entry shield for use on ships in case heat will be added - before leaving to Jool ship will dock to it in Kerbin orbit and after Laythe aerobrake it will be jetisioned and maybe reused for Kerbin return. But for ships without frontal big docking port, I hope the will add something else if they decide to introduce the heat... Well, armor can protect you againts light projectiles like oscarB with ant engine tipped with docking port or those small RCS probes, but it will provide no help at all aggaints nosecone proppeled by 6 sepratrons with light spin... What can help is to have good angles on your armor - kinda like on tank and spaced armor...
  11. HoY: I´ll take a look Dropping 2 tankers worth of 3600 liquid fuel (1800 each) after I run them dry during ejection burn Aerobraking at Jool Mothership itself is 6400 of liquid fuel (+ 4 oscar B in probes) powered by magnificent 9 LV-N engine cluster by Temstar. With light loads it can propably reach even Dres or Eeloo, with heavy loads like SSTOs it is different story (burning 3600 units of liquid fuel just for Jool ejection ), but definetly Laythe capable.
  12. I hope someday the stock game will have cockpits like B9 aerospace with multi-function displays, then it will be very easy to flight IVA+map anywhere
  13. Nice slim and pointy design! As admiral-general Alladin said - It needs to be pointy! Armor is useless againts most of the weapons, so no need for added weight there, it looks like it could pack solid amount of dV
  14. between 22,000 and 23,500 only 200m can make all the difference Hoy: Your mission setup is almost exactly same as mine
  15. I wanna be really careful, not to ruin the thing, I would really just reduce part count and add that xenon on some place, where it would be ok. It is really nice ship and I cannot wait to see it perform in combat, I will propably set some target ship into next save for others to fly a propper combat mission with it. I will arm it with your missiles Should I use those made of 2 oscar B tanks or is the on tank variant just as powerful?
  16. Wow, great for Laythe air-recon missions I guess Edit: What is the range/air-time of that thingy?
  17. Over 6000 is doable, but you have to quicksave and fine tune the height - greater the speed narrower the window for aerobrake.
  18. LawsOfFire: I like "Viking" good name ROFLCopter64bit: Well, Alpha and Beta will come with introduction of resources
  19. Comradegoat: 23.500m is way to go when coming not over 4000m/s... If you´re lucky you can save fuel by inserting to Laythe without Jool aerobraking - then you might need to be ready to do deeper aerobraking, baceuse you´ll be propably coming faster from interplanetary space - but you´ll save A LOT of fuel.
  20. I use septratron torpedoes with spin stabilisaton both on Wasp and Hornet class fighters. I will post pic of them in action. But reloadable version is very part heavy - like 11 parts or so. Main advantage is that you can fire them on quick flyby atracs without need to switch control. Well known pics of my excersise in precision:
  21. Well, because we´re not as advanced and reckless as Kerbals But well, lets see what will devs prepare for us. I use SSTOs only for my Laythe surface to orbit operations - well just crew transfer in the moment, since we don´t have cargo bays
  22. I can see into the future - as they add funding into the game everybody will start flying SSTOs
  23. Looks nice, really good armor, I will gladly use it for target practice
  24. Well, to be Laythe efficient, you got to master orbital and interplanery juggling - set some ships to transfer and as the fly to Jool do some Launches in Kerbin SOI, do some Laythe base management and missions... HoY: Well, there is always a chance, he is skilled pilot - he may fire 2 of those SRBs without relasing them to get a capture. I have some experience flying that ship inside Jool system and I don´t think he can do much with RCS. And well, he won´t last long in Jool system since my crew sets of anytime clayming whole system ...
  25. Spectacular aerobraking of Damkina Proto B over Jool:
