  1. Could you try those torpedoes on something (my favorite target is Macey Deans cruiser or carrier) and post pics? I consider those torpedoes great, but I need a proof of their power!
  2. It will be a great cruiser but we need to solve 2 things - getting it into orbit (I´m sure Temstar will help us figure out) and solve that structural integrity of front part. As I love it´s wasp-waisted design, it is a nightmare during vicious aerobraking. But you have definetly the potential to maka a working Laythe capable escort cruiser!
  3. brobel: I gave it just a quick spin - looks great, those missiles are awesome, but I haven´t tested them againts my favorite target yet. Light cruiser was pretty imune againts them even when I hit it with speeds like 300m/s. Ship itself looks great, enough fuel, good propulsion - but it tends to flex horibly in that mid section Still thinking about Damkina class - make it bigger with extra 1440 units of fuel or keep it nice and compact (as I like)...? Well awaiting suggestions after you guys try to fly it!
  4. Can you upload a version with no Mechjeb? As the one used in Project gotta be stock. I was giving some thought how to explore a good landing site on Laythe. Classic probe has no crossrange capability, space shuttle is heavy and expensive. But wait... Is there a third way? Yes, there is! An UAV! It has some 40km or 14minutes of airtime at sea-level. It will be brought to Laythe on Damkina, on special mount or instead of those 2 radial mounted probes, I will see about that - what would be easier. Behold the Butterfly UAV Prototype:
  5. In current save file I relased take a look at Damkinas ascent stage - might be working. Thats the biggest problem of engine clusters - you cannot build ascent stage under it. I hope we can get this cruiser working because it looks totaly awesome!
  6. When playing KSP I really hate myself for not paying atention during math and science classes
  7. Without mechjeb is almost impossible to fly Damn it. Such a nice craft!
  8. Portal 2 reference - eh? Don´t get it much, never played the game. Well, we´re the good guys, don´t worry And now of you go to fly your vital mission Once "Saphire" is in orbit we can really make stuff happen! And my last requirement to "Saphire" station - be sure it is orbiting the right way - matching rotation of Laythe To all: Get a close look at all the ships, mainly the "Damkina" class mothership and submint ideas how to improve its performance. P.S.: And for those of you who can´t dock or flight interplanetary - go watch some Scott Manly and try it! We need skilled pilots! Flying missions to Laythe is no walk in the park as well as flying cargo delivery flights to orbital station or motheship.
  9. Looking forward to the result! Laythe capable cruiser... Damn! Damkina was a succes, but not total succes... It´s range without "Calf" tankers used as drop tanks is limited, but maybe I´m wrong and excesive fuel consumption was caused by weight of payload. But still it is a prototype and I´ll make some minor tweaks. And god know we need a cruiser - space is pretty dangerous place with all these Spiritwolf Corp. and Hanland Corp. ships flying around in Kerbol system: Good thing is, that for Project BABYLON we have bought/steal many of these designs
  10. I was browsing my archives and I found rare footage of a heavy fighter succesfuly attacking a Dreadnought class battlecruiser mady by Macey Dean. There you can see that heavy armor was no help. Sadly gun camera of a Shade Mk II fighter works only few seconds after target is locked and missiles are fired, so you cannot see the how badly the battlecruiser was damaged... Target locked Missiles away! Impact! Secondary explosins Target neutralized
  11. Yep, thats exactly what I had in mind! Does it have ASAS module? That will help docking bigger payloads. Take a look at ships in save file and make hive carry ammunition for these. There is also a "Hive" prototype ship capable of reaching Laythe. Thats very importatnt - ship must be capable of reaching Laythe or there must be an option to dock it and tow it behind something else. "Calf" tanker is succes - works great with "Damkina" mothership.
  12. Fresh SSTO delivery to Laythe just aerobraking in atmosphere of Jool...
  13. What about a smart missile/SRB hybrid? It gets undocked, aquire its target vector via RCS control and then SRB fires up? Obviusoly part count for that would be higher, so ship couldn´t carry as much of these, but since they can be reloaded... Reloading - small rcs powered droid can do that.
  14. Ok, I´ll begin trials. I have not much luck buidling ascent stages for craft as Hammerhead... Should be fun Trials eneded - Vampire Bat was a succes and will proceed to Laythe field trials after some minor modifications - I´ll maybe change spacing between landing gear as it is very narrow and doesn´t provide much stability during landing and take-off from field runways.
  15. llamatoes: Nice ship, but it is mostly what I thoutgh as a "Hive" ship. "Bee" should by just some kind of small space tug droid powered by RCS to move those torpedo stacks (or probes or anything with big/small docking port on it) from ship to ship within orbit. Well, Damkina class can reach Laythe using 2 calf tankers as a drop-tanks, arriving into Laythe orbit with 2 SSTO Falcon Shuttles. I dropped them before I made my inclination change over Laythe. So with each sortie Damkina can bring 2 modules/ships into Laythe orbit and on Laythe Orbit it can be re-stocked with low-gravity landers and them to outer moons of Jool. To be honest I thought it would take less fuel to reach Laythe. But it is definetly possible. Droping spent "Calf" tankers Jool aerobraking Laythe orbit after droping probes and shuttles
  16. Is there aviable a stock version of Hammerhead? How does it get to orbit? How much it costs? And can it Reach Laythe? I´m currently looking for some light cruiser class stock ship for my Project BABYLON effort.
  17. Official save relase DOWNLOAD Features: Horizon orbital station in 115km Orbit above Kerbin, equiped with fighters Damkina Proto B Mothership equiped with 2 Calf tankers and 2 Falcon MkI SSTO Shuttles, all fully fueled and ready to go! Damkina Proto C Mothership just arrived into orbit, needs equipment and fuel Laythe Recon probe - orbiting Laythe I also renamed all the ships to match names I suggested on first page - so it won´t be confusing anymore. So I suggest - take the ships for the spin, and writed down some feedback on their range and characteristics. Pics or videos are welcomed. If someone proves himself skilled pilot (taking fully loaded Damkina to Laythe and establishing propper equatorial orbit for example) he may be chosen to flight an official misson in next relase. Now to official missions for this relase: ROFLCopter64bit - put "Saphire" station into 75km orbit above Laythe. So lets fly into the black!
  18. Official save coming out in 2 hours Few teaser pics of Damkina class mothership preparing to go to Laythe carrying fuel and cargo:
  19. brobel: you´re in. You can email me the craft file on tadeasplachy@gmail.com and I will edit it into to save file. ROFLCopter64bit: I´ll relase a updated save file today and then go ahead with this save and put "Saphire" to late and send post up the save here as we did previously. And post up some pictures, I´m very curious how is that huge construction flying. I suggest you then put it into really low orbit above Laythe - like 75-80km for spaceplanes to be able to get there from surface - their range is very limited. KD3: Primary beacon will be on land, so now focus on that one. Other beacons may be as well placed on water - I plan to make a network of beacons to navigate crafts coming down from orbit. Octobomb: Rovers are not priority just now because Laythe doesn´t like rovers due to it´s unstable surface.
  20. Armor is almost useles - you can always make stronger missile But you cannot ad armor infinetly...
  21. Ok, I´ll begin trials This looks very promising, current SSTO I use for project flies very nice in atmo but it has very short range.
  22. Tempting offer But I do have my orbital figther situation pretty much sorted out. I don´t want to weaponize space too much. I´ll see about the cruiser, but I think we can make it to Laythe without it - or I can repurpose the mothership. Ad some forward facing hard-points with some missiles... But there is one thing I´m still looking for - an atmospheric fighter, which I can deploy and use on Laythe.
  23. Is it stock or there are mod parts? It looks great and I may consider it for PROJECT Babylon use
  24. And how we´re going to move it? I would maybe suggest something we can take to Laythe orbit piece by piece towed by a ship - mothership or tanker on it´s trip to Laythe. I´ll relase save with mothership soon so you can get handle of it
