Macey Dean started it and now everyone follows... But there can be only one Just kidding, I will look into it, if it less laggy as I start bringing my capital ships there
-
Ok Well, it may see service alongside X-305, since X-305 is hands down just great, I think we both agree to that? You may think of tasks your friggate will perform...? Since X-305 man task would be escorting Damkina on transfers between Kerbin and Jool and then guarding it in orbit. I think, that lighter craft could escort Damkina class ships inside Jool system? EDIT: And seriuosly guys come up with some names for these ships! Damkina class motherships: DCMS "Ark Royal" DCMS "Viking" DCMS "..." DCMS "..." Marduk class light escort cruisers (X-305 series): MCLEC "Essex" MCLEC "Anicetus" MCLEC "Aquila" MCLEC "..."

Curently I´m trying out the X-305 and it look like we have a winner for Marduk class light cruiser - after minor changes.

I´ve made brief trials and it comes to me, that X-305 has a very good chance of becoming "Marduk class" light cruiser for needs of PROJECT Babylon, because I think it exactly matches it´s specification which I drew: Goals: providing security to vital operations on both Kerbin and Laythe orbit, escorting “Damkina†on it´s travels Requirements: ability to travel between Kerbin SOI and Laythe, capability of taking out capital ships, capability to defend itself against lighter ships, armor plating of vital systems, ability to provide logistic support to other combat vessels Just minor changes will be mad - I will sacrifice those solar panels and save weight I will use to instal Xenon gas tanks so it will be able to refuel fighters -
Planned features for next save: Both "Horizon" and "Saphire" in orbits DCMS Ark Royal (Damkina class mothership) in orbit of Kerbin, fully fueled and ready for departure to Jool ComLink Array 300km above Kerbin (Stargazer by Temstar) New SSTO shuttles and ships for testing Marduk Prototype (ex-XC-305 by donlokiman) in orbit for kerbin Now big question: What should we send to Laythe first? Obviously it will be "Ark Royal" mothership and "Essex" light cruiser, but with what payload? Should it be SSTOs for future missions to surface? Should it be com array to set a link between Laythe and Kerbin...? Some teaser pics of com array and Saphire:

Ok, I´ll make some work and relase new official save till friday
-
Temstar: Or Ion engine pushing the rover towards the ground to provide traction? You´re right - I´ve messed with rovers just briefly and almost forgott, how hard is it to keep it on the ground even on Mün
-
I like the microrover idea... :-) Part count is important :-)
-
Octobomb: Maybe small rover with skycrane would be nice for low gravity moons (even maybe something for Tylo since I don´t plan landing kerbals there, rover would be nice)... I want to wait for .20 for seats to do propper manned rovers on Laythe.
-
Ok, prety nice I´ll propably do some minor tweaks and relase it in next save I like how it looks.

[0.19.1] Orbital Propellant Depot Olympus II
Tada replied to Temstar's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Hm.. Thats strange - I always get at least 3 docked -
I´m pretty decent at it, I´ll try it... If atmospheric performance will be good.
-
SecondGuessing: As long as it can go to space on top of a rocket, it has docking port to attach to carrier and docking port to attach small tug for orbital maneuvering and deorbiting - it may be possible Some little news here in project, while standing by for "Saphire" to be built... First production Damkina class mothership will be named: "DCMS Ark Royal" This name was chosen by Temstar - he designed propulsion system and ascent stage for the whole thing and many many otherships included in PROJECT Babylon. There will be 2-3 more of those ships operational, so you can suggest names

donlokiman: How much dV does it have? Still looking for cruiser to support my Laythe operations -

Vicious aerobraking I say! -
Well, Tylo.. 7.85 m/s2, but I don´t wanna go there. Largest of the worlds where I wanna go is Vall with 2.31 m/s2 roughly as the Mün. I wanna prospect those worlds for future mining operations. Tylo wouldn´t be practical... But if you put up compact Tylo lander, capable of being transported to Laythe and from Laythe to Tylo, it will be used!
-
You mean making llamatoes deisgn into reusable space tug? I´ll look into that, but I think, most of these logistics crafts will get just deorbited... Only bigger ships I´ll keep in orbit. What about some day in future (like in 2 weeks or so) I´ll do a livestream flying some mission?
-
Very nice, and it would be easy to restock with the new more powerful anti-capital ships smart missiles And fact it is Laythe capable makes it very practical putting less stress on number of mothership resuply runs. Mothership then keep to the important stuff.

I´ve started to use maths again... -
Well, you can work together, thats the point of the project I´ll include the ships in next official save relase as soon as "Saphire" is establish... Edit: Anyone here capable of doing some cool mission logo and badge?
-
llamatoes: Is it Laythe capable on its own I presume? I consider Bee for docking bigger thinks like space station parts, for loading torpedoes I would use just a small "Grub" droid (octoprobe, RCS tank, RCS thrusters, batteries, solar panels, docking port Jr.). Great design!
