  1. Using the most generic space picture on the internet, I see! (seriously, I see it WAAAAAAY too much)
  2. Squad doesn't want to do a big live event for KerbalKon yet. Since it's still a relatively small community with a significant portion outside of the USA, they decided against doing a live event to allow everyone to participate and not feel left out because they couldn't get passports, plane tickets, event tickets, hotel rooms, etc. I'm looking forward to it! I loved the video and I can't wait for 0.23! Bring on the SABREs!
  3. Decided to do the Ike flyby with DOP-1 despite my concerns with deltaV. Flight plan, only ~140 m/s. Approaching Ike, nothing too fancy. *Periapsis was in the dark, so no screenshots* Leaving Ike... that's it. Are you still looking at this caption? Seriously, KEEP SCROLLING. Once I got out of Ike's SoI, I burned to lower my Duna periapsis to 60km, then dropped my apoapsis to 600 at periapsis. That's it.
  4. Some screenshots from my mostly-stock Duna L/OPC mission: The whole combo on approach to Duna. Ike, as usual, is in the way. This time it's only visual obstruction since it was nice and let me pass without an encounter. I didn't get any shots of the tricky maneuver that followed. Basically, I burned to suborbital speed, decoupled the lander, then burned back into orbit, putting the transfer stage and the orbital probe into separate orbits. I was worried I would mess it up, but everything went fine. The lander, DSP-1, says hello to the sun. This little guy is completely immobile with internal RTGs to provide power all the time, anytime (they're hiding inside the decoupler). It has all the stock sensors on it so I can do lots of science! The orbiter DOP-1. I used Infernal Robotics to get the comms dish and solar panels to extend like that, but accidentally attached struts to them so I couldn't deploy them until I jettisoned the transfer stage. Silly me. I guess the decoupler on the front can be a telescope since this probe has none of the sensors but still needs to do something productive. It can probably go to Ike with all of its deltaV, but that would involve an inclination change and then a burn out to encounter it, neither of which I care to do right now.
  5. Wow, all this big stuff and all I have is a liddle biddy rover on Mun. Since I've played with the rescale I'm not used to how easy it is to get places in the stock game. It took me 15 minutes to design and land this rover when it normally takes me up to 10 to get into LEO.
  6. More Cavalier Program stuff! First flight (Cavalier 1), suborbital using Hephaestus launcher. Crew: Bill and Bob Kerman Status: Complete and safe! Cavalier 2, orbital using Anarchist 1.1 launcher (same as Musketeer and OCS) Crew: Bill and Calzer Kerman Status: In Progress
  7. It's mostly for observing space and cool stuff that happens there. For example, you can visit Orion's belt and see what new constellations are there.
  8. Why are "science" scarves tied with KSP? They're on two entirely different planes of geeky! We're at 21% of votes with the Schrodinger's Cat Box at 29%. Vote more!
  9. All you'd have to do is configure the old part.cfg and rename it so that KSP doesn't freak out about it. Just copy the antenna partmodule from the new one to the old one and change the animation in that partmodule to the old model's deploy animation.
  10. My condolences on the docking fail SuperWeegee. Even with the regular-sized Kerbin, that's a pain to deal with. Just a descent test for my new Gemini recreation, known as "Cavalier." Naturally, Jeb was taking a nap in the prototype capsule and was rudely awakened to the roar and acceleration of a Mainsail accelerating the test capsule and orbital stage up to about 30km. Not fun.
  11. Did another mission in the Musketeer Program. Musketeer 4 took Rorey Kerman into a 500*500 km orbit, which was then adjusted to 120*120 to test Musketeer's propulsion. The new Musketeer 1.1 uses the same launcher as the previous model but has a CO2 recycler instead of an O2 tank, along with a smaller fuel tank to drop its mass, extra batteries, and an antenna for constant communication with mission control. "If you look to your left you will see some nice clouds down in the atmosphere." "Rorey, stop messing around and do the science we gave you." Did some edits to another screenshot from the mission. Not super happy with how it turned out but it has a cool old look.
  12. My 2.9GHz CPU, 256MB VRAM, and 12GB RAM can run the game at a decent FPS at 1280*720. I need to upgrade my GPU but as stated earlier, minimums are not absolute.
  13. KSP's parts are not publicly available except as .mu files. You'd have to extract them using a .mu-reverser (and I'm not even sure if those exist or are publicly available) and then convert the models to .stl from .fbx or .obj or whatever using Blender or something.
  14. From here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/55145-0-22-WIP-Alpha-Real-Solar-System-v5-2 I've also got a bunch of other mods that I mentioned a page ago to make it harder. FAR is a little tricky because even with the more realistic aerodynamics the aerodynamics of rockets are still kinda iffy.
  15. Pictures from my first manned mission to LEO, Musketeer 3! (Musketeers 1 & 2 never got beyond touching space on a suborbital flight due to bad rocket design) The moon (not Mun, mind you ) is right by that big bright star. Jeb is going to have to come down eventually as he only has a limited supply of oxygen (actually limited space for CO2), but he'll be up there for around 8 orbits. He also has an extra 2 km/s of deltaV, but I don't know what to do with it... he's not going to the moon, at least. Maybe a rendezvous with one of the OCS satellites?
  16. The one thing I know that could be causing is app restrictions, but that depends on your version of OS X, which might also cause compatibility issues. What version of OS X are you on?
  17. Grab the app from the iOS App Store with your iPad or iPhone (price is $0.99 for a few days), then get the server from here (the server is what connects your Mac/PC to enable use of the app as a control system for your computer). Once you have that, get the KSP plugin from the previous page to enable data sending to your iOS device and put that into KSP's GameData folder. The control pad will work by default without the plugin as the plugin only sends data to your iPhone or iPad; connect the plugin using the channel you get from the application on your computer. ---------- Great app/plugin! I kinda wish the server was available for Linux as that's where I do most of my Kerbal stuff, but my Hackintosh works just fine for now. Full marks on my app store rating and a reputation point here on the forums! Keep up the great work!
  18. I used KW, Engineer and RemoteTech 2. I also have the Kerbin rescale, FAR, and modular fuels with the real fuels configs.
  19. All these realism mods are making KSP hard... but I like it! Revolutionary 1, a medium-sized launcher reminiscent of Soyuz, designed to take communication satellites into MEO. Revolutionary 1 on the pad pre-launch. OCS-1 in orbit around Earth. This specific satellite won't be a big part of my communications network as its batteries can't survive through the dark part of its orbit, but it's good for providing control to satellites out of LoS of Mission Control. I just put up another satellite using a new launcher that has more batteries to last longer, and I managed to line it up almost perfectly with OCS-1! (their orbital periods are 8 seconds apart)
  20. Zip version is here: Linky Sorry about the wait, I was busy with real life stuff.
  21. For now Kerbalcon is going to be livestream only, if I recall correctly. The reasoning was that too many people would be excluded due to travel and ticket costs, but a livestream on twitch is free to view and attend.
  22. Did you copy the whole "Saves" folder? You can copy the persistence and quicksave files on their own but without the craft file folders you won't have any ships except the stock ones.
  23. I generally don't use clipping unless necessary (i.e. a part won't attach when it should) because I don't need to clip parts to get my designs to work.
  24. That's enough. If we can't keep this thread on-topic then there'll be moderators on it like vultures. We already solved the issue of .rar and .zip files, so drop it. Also, if pic links aren't working, the thread creator ought to know so he can work on fixing it.
  25. Don't worry, I'll be repacking the rars as zips for people who don't want to or can't install rar-decompressing applications. As I said earlier, .zip is a much more widely-supported file compression format than .rar, but I'll make sure both are available. Let's try to stay on the topic of Kerbin City and not format preferences (there's a whole subforum for that).
