  1. I think another bump for KER is that you can also view details of how your craft will behave on other celestial bodies. That becomes very handy when planning missions.
  2. Well yeah. So like I said..... When this is said and done were we going to do a mun base or something different? Was trying to feel out what people wanted to do.
  3. So, when this is said and done I believe someone had an idea of expanding this a bit further with the addition of a mun base and space station? I know I'm certainly down for that challenge! Anyone have any thoughts on this? I was thinking that adding the base/station combo might give more opportunities for people to join the build. Some could be tasked with building support craft such as fuel, cargo, crew tugs, and various rovers. Then of course we have the station and base that more than a few people could build on. Having a few more things to build might give us more wiggle room with the overall part counts as well since things like the support craft don't have to be stuck in one spot.
  4. Haha, trying to figure out where/who has the current save. I'll put something up this evening once I track down that file.
  5. All set to go here. Well, I had made a decent fuel/rcs payload but it appears our fuel depot could use some docking love. Maybe a nice docking arm with several size options? What do you think?
  6. There is always the older MPSS Nautilus by BobCat. Believe it holds 5 Kerbals. Animated Hatch and navigation lights. Include in the mod are a hab ring that turns, a docking truss, and a larger NERVA style engine. Now I'm not sure how balanced these parts are vs stock as I have really only used them for making videos, not actual missions. http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/0-18-1-mpss-nautilus/ It says .18 but I messed with it again recently and it appears to work, at least the Kraken didn't immediately eat the ship anyway.
  7. I saw this and the Six Million Dollar man theme came crashing into my head. We can rebuild him, we have the technology.... Just awesome work on the modeling by the way.
  8. These are just stunning. The detail is amazing. How long did it take to bang these out in the VAB? Also, this might be a completely nub'ish question but how did you get those tanks to come together near the top of each stage on the Soyuz and on the bottom stage of the other rocket shown.
  9. I was thinking the same thing! One step further in immersing yourself in a semi "real" space program. Sending up code to your orbiting probes just like the pro's.
  10. People above made awesome suggestions. Since you are using mods I'll add that maybe you want to nab that Kerbal Engineer that is pictured in one of the posts above. It will make solving your deltav issue MUCH easier since can easily change between different reference bodies within the mod. It defaults to showing you all the information assuming you are on Kerbin, pressing the button corresponding to the planet you are wanting to escape from you will see how your ship will behave there. Combined with the DeltaV map mentioned in another post you can do all your planning safely in the VAB with no issues. Good luck!
  11. Not sure this belongs here but this is my stab at a stock replica of the Gun Star from The Last Starfighter. Corny I know but I was bored. I slapped a generic launcher under it and gave it enough deltaV to make a nice trip to the mun. Added a Sr. docking ring so you can add your own drive to push it just about anywhere you need Jeb pointing a RTG menacingly at you from under his cockpit. Craft file here.
  12. The Rockomax BACC Solid Fuel Booster is stock. Believe it was added in the last patch/upgrade. Ok to be absolutely sure I nuked the game and re-installed. Yep, stock. And your rover/rocket was very well done!
  13. Very good work on this one. Pulling off some of those shots had to have taken a long time to do. Just awesome work.
  14. Ohhh I can't wait to see the finished product! Cool camera work, check. Holding my lighter up to the music, check. Perked interest with the voice actors playing parts, check!
  15. Noooo!!! Bring him here. Immerse him in the awesomeness that is this community. Seriously, the artistry abounding here is just mind boggling. Just go peek through the mod forums here, its oozing helpful people giving constructive criticism and glowing praise. And when he gets the KSP bug, and you know he will, I have a few ideas..... insert shameless begging here....
  16. Hmmm well..still... you outed yourself as a dev. Now we must hunt you and squeeze you for code..... <whip crack> <evil laugh>.. oops sorry, the managerial type emerged there. Seriously though have some faith. While your concerns might have not matriculated to the top of the to do list I'm sure they will get things sorted out. I so wish we could crack a beer right now and talk shop lol
  17. .. cough .. I didn't know you could drag maneuver nodes until very recently... I've just be redoing them over and over till I got them right. Talk about a Ah-Ha moment combined with a face palm that left a mark.
  18. Oh just wow.... that is so going in my next base design... THE command seat.
  19. Sorry, wasn't trying to Troll you or anything. Just wanting to point out that there is an excess of communication going on. Again, maybe not to what you feel is important. I'm not neck deep in the code, thank freaking god, as a current developer type as you are. Hehe, I gave that up most likely before you were born. I hope that passion is maybe being poured into a mod or something we can use? hint hint, nudge nudge... Maybe a mod or workaround for the perceived problems you are having with the game? You never know... you could be brought on to the team along with past mod developers and then we can deluge you with friendly... suggestions lol.
  20. I saw that! Brilliant!! Your mission log was just awesome as well. Loved the read.
  21. The man, Harvester, has over 3000+ posts in these forums. Not sure if that is just from the wipe forward or total but anyway you look at that, that is great interaction with a community. I mean all those posts can't just be "This is what is happening" fluff posts, they are responses to questions, ideas, suggestions, bugs, etc.. etc.. etc.. That to me equals great communication. Not all of it may be what you were expecting or wanting to hear for sure but excellent communication none the less.
  22. Kind of adding to your wonderful post.. If I remember right the gentleman who made that first high altitude jump from a balloon had an issue with his glove. Joseph Kittinger was his name. His story provides elegant proof of exactly what you were discussing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Kittinger You can read what happened in the link but in a nutshell he had a malfunction in his suit while in near vacuum and his poor hand ballooned up in size.
  23. My attempt is not nearly as well done as the others but I managed to get most of it done. I give you the SS Minnow. Base 30 points for initial criteria 3-man mission +10 2-man lander +10 2-stage lander +20 Lander stored behind CM during ascent +20 Flawless landing +10 Rover on board +15 docked CM and LEM in munar orbit +10 MM disposed of on lunar surface crash trajectory +5 Flag Planted at landing site +3 Test drive +2 Splash down +5 Should be 140. My hats off to those of you who managed to get that landing by the memorial! I need some navigation practice because I didn't come close.
  24. I really love the work you have done on that capsule. I can't wait to use it in another video! Having had a brief exposure to 3d modeling I know how much work you threw into this. Well done!
  25. Very very weird. For me the ASAS seems to calm things down when I try and orient a big station or something. Make my move then pop the ASAS if there happens to be one onboard. If not I use that neat time warp trick.
