  1. Just a tip, sometimes less is more. I redesigned my Tylo lander and it is 3 times lighter than before. Explore various combinations of engines and tanks. KER is very helpful in those situations.
  2. You'll need 3200m/s of ÃŽâ€V. Also note that the thickest part of the atmosphere is up until 10k after that the atmosphere gets really thin really fast.
  3. I am completely stuck when it comes to build a drive unit for my journey to Duna and then to Jool (grand tour + Jeb level) and i'd like some design advice. At the image below is the current drive unit, it's an asparagus staging with 6 nuke engines with the outer tanks being the asparagus along with a lander for Duna, Tylo, Vall, Bop, Poll and below are the other modules that will be used at the Jool system. The weight of the whole ship is at about 600t (with a lag to match). According to the ÃŽâ€V map and my calculations i need about 22000 m/s for my mission to Duna/Jool (including aerobrake maneuvers) and the mechjeb calculations have me confused. Mechjeb shows me a total vacuum ÃŽâ€V of 11942 m/s but if i add up the ÃŽâ€V of the stages 11 - 7 i get 13176 m/s. Which is correct? Also i would like some advice on how to increase the ÃŽâ€V. The payload weight is about 120t and it is the lightest payload i could build for this mission
  4. everything you do for the first time in the game and succeed has its own achievement and reward. right now my biggest reward, which is under development, and almost finished the design part will be a grand tour on all the planets and back to Kerbin in the context of the Jool-5 challenge.
  5. did you add the mission timer to the videos or is it a mod (especially at the second video)
  6. Here is a chart i made showing the power generation of the various solar panels at the planets of KSP so that everyone can make safe calculations and not run out of electricity http://i.imgur.com/EmGIZhU.jpg
  7. I am going for the jeb level but i have covered the other planets along with landers. My Jool-5 profile is a visit to Duna land and leave for Jool. Aerobrake to Jool and start from laythe and go outwards. I have the landers covered but i need a confirmation of the ÃŽâ€V for the drive
  8. Man, this challenge with the grand tour is something else, i'm doing a shakedown at the various stages for this challenge and i am still a long way with the test of the Jool drive. Just a final question how much ÃŽâ€V do i need for the Jool tour? I made some some rough calculations, along with a visit to Duna and i come at about 22000 m/s
  9. Just a quick question about your Jool diver/science. There are two 'Biomes' for Jool's atmosphere, High atmosphere and low atmosphere, where does the low begin at 118 km or lower?
  10. a couple of questions for the grand tour + jeb level. Do i need to go to all bodies in one ship or can i split the ship in parts? The whole ship will be assembled in Kerbin orbit but the Jool-5 mothership will remain in orbit and send landers to the other planets in order to avoid excessive lag, then when the other ships return i will go to Jool. Also if one Kerbal plants a flag in a planet can the same Kerbal plant another flag at another planet/biome?
  11. When entering a planet's SOI your ship will always be anti-normal and will have to correct the orbit to the desired one.

  14. i'd like to throw my name in the hat. One question, Since i have a data limitation at my ISP what kind how is this going to be played, by posting videos/stream/images?

  16. With the TR-2C Stack Separator whether i decouple manually or with the spacebar the game crashes
  17. The performance boost on my laptop was huge, unmoded and modded. The game ran very smooth during gameplay. Loading times are pretty much the same. The only glitches i noticed are the screen transition flash, it shows me the astronaut complex or engine exhausts at the left side of the screen and/or when the rocket is at the VAB when revert flight to VAB, and the staging glitch that mentioned a few post back but this is inconsistent and it happens both on a clean install and a modded install. Mods used Toolbar KER Enhanced NavBAll FASA Launchtowers Hyperedit KSP Science Library Docking Port Alignment Indicator Precise Node Procedural Fairings RCS Build Aid Scan Sat Steam Gauges Kerbal Alarm Clock Tweakable Everything Universal Storage (Core) Mechjeb 2 With Enhanced Visual Environments (EVE) the game ran very smooth with a few frame drops here and there but overall way faster than the 32 bit version. When i reverted the flight to the VAB the game froze to the loading screen. Uninstalled EVE and everything works fine. When launching a rocket with a KER module or Mechjeb showing info the launch was laggy for the first few seconds but the it went smooth as butter Finally what i noticed is that when i ran the 32 - bit KSP i had it also had an improved performance.
  18. just made a new install with this hack and the one significant bug i found was during staging. At the launchpad with Kerbal X i press space and the engines ignite, press space to release launchclapms but nothing happens and i hear the characteristic sound when there is no stage (clicking sound), if i keep pressing space nothing happens BUT once i click on the screen and press space the staging works. This applies and for the other stages
  19. sorry for the necro but here is a video with the sins in the movie
  20. These are the close calls i've had so far. Two of them are form the Jool - 5 challenge At this pic i physics warped during an aerobrake at Laythe, once i saw this bend i reverted to 1x time acceleration and hoped for the ship not to brake, which it didn't. The second close call was during my Tyllo landing were i cleared the rim of the crater with 50m clearance And this is my ever first close with the surface of the Mun, although the altitude from the crater reads 500m i went close to 100m.
  21. We need a mod for KSP with this idea
  22. Also the library icon at toolbar when in the VAB is not visible, would be nice to be able to see the science library at the VAB during building so you can place the science modules you need
  23. Another great mod! One suggestion though. It would be nice to have checkboxes for each experiment that will be visible for each planet. eg. for Moho i would like to select the thermometer scan and the mystery goo and then the right screen would show me all the related experiments that can be done at this planet.
