  1. WOW!!! Amazing job there. One small problem though. I downloaded the core parts and i noticed that you have only an external tank for oxygen, would it be possible to add another for water and hydrogen?
  2. i would like to see the option to go to the tracking station at the in - game menu (when i press esc during gameplay) along with go to space center option
  3. Testing a few lander designs for the ultimate challenge with funny results. This is a multi-task lander, landed??? at Laythe
  4. i am thinking of redoing this challenge for JEBEDIAH'S LEVEL + GRAND TOUR is there a limit for the crew? i see at Himynameisjake log that he uses 3 Kerbals (obviously one for landing and two for the science lab)
  5. A moon mosaic from May 7th 2014, pick a place for Jeb to land full resolution http://www.astrobin.com/full/95392/0/
  6. A new photo of IC1396 aka the Elephant trunk nebula full resolution http://www.astrobin.com/full/95385/0/
  7. the final image of m106 that i finished this year full resolution http://www.astrobin.com/full/72457/B/
  8. I'll start. First rescuing Jeb from leaving the solar system by using the Sepatrons to establish a solar orbit, then i used the RCS on Wilwise's ship to bring him directly at Kerbin. The rest will follow once i have free time
  9. now that we can time warp at the space center and at the tracking station would it be possible to add alarms at those screens, especially when it comes to going to other planets eg an alarm for planets transfer window. Another possible idea would be to select a craft from the tracking station (but not fly the craft) and then add an alarm to it.
  10. if this challenge is intended for students then i would suggest at the regulations the following 1. Provide a mathematical background before the trip from the whole team (pilot, engineer and mission controller) since all of them will take part at the mission and they need to know this in case something goes wrong (also this will prevent from one member of the team to seat back and relax while the other does the whole work) eg. calculate the ÃŽâ€V required for a journey to the Mun and promote ÃŽâ€V savings. 2. An unmanned mission must go in advance before a manned mission to any celestial body or solar orbit 3. It would be nice for the designed ship to have about 10% (or another percentage) ÃŽâ€V than calculated in order to avoid unpredicted situations (orbital plane changes) and overbuilt ships but extra points for those that complete the mission within the ÃŽâ€V requirements of the mission
  11. Yes it is quite possible that the camera was nudged either by hand, shutter, wind or not being securely placed at the tripod. Even the slightest movement will increase at the exposure
  12. at the photos there are star trails visible, caused by the lack of an equatorial mount or a motorized mount, that's why the satellite trails make an angle and seem to change direction
  13. they are satellite trails. the trail is not continuous throughout the shot since it is the sunlight being reflected from the solar panels down to earth. As the angle of the panels changes towards the earth by the movement of the satellite the trail can be longer or shorter. Satellite trails can be a real pain for deep space astrophotography. google iridium flares
  14. Does anybody knows what is the optimum speed before 32Km for Eve? e.g for Kerbin you need to be under 200m/s under 10k so you won't spend fuel, for Eve what is is this speed?
  15. thanx. I copied a tug from one of the above pictures and lowered its PE to 19 million km will continue at another time with better tug. here is a pic along with my previous attempts
  16. 0.23.5 time warped while on the launchpad. Then the payload exploded and got this.
  17. Just what the title says. How can i control a class E asteroid so i can do the required maneuvers i want to bring down its PE? i tried placing some RCS tugs with ASAS units radially at the asteroid but had no better control.
  18. Rescued all the Kerbals and the Hulk at Duna, of course they are at Duna orbit but it's the least of my concerns. During driving at Duna i had a lot of Kraken attacks and also made my first sub-orbital ship rescue. Will continue at a later time with the return of the crew back to Kerbin. Of course i made a lot of design mistakes at this part of the challenge and sent 3 ships in order to accomplish this rescue.
  19. This is a class E asteroid i captured, it a tough one to maneuver and i had to move the tug ship back and forth (push-pull) in order to capture the asteroid at Kerbin's SOI and that's a class A asteroid
  20. Just what Kerbin needed. A class E asteroid moon in polar orbit. Yam yam.
  21. the devs have some tutorials at the scenario option menu. check them out.
  22. Just wow!!! The under the hood improvements are amazing at this patch. Can't wait for 0.24 Also my first A class asteroid capture with a rendezvous outside Kerbin's SOI
  23. Gotta love the new patch. My first asteroid rendezvous outside Kerbin's SOI and capture of an A class asteroid
  24. For Tylo you will need about 6300 ÃŽâ€V. Asparagus staging is the way to go. At your lander you will only need 2 RTG's and not the big monopropelant tank, also brake the ship into two parts, the lander and the drive ship to get you to Tylo and back to Kerbin. Are you going to Tylo at career mode or sandbox? If it is the later the you can use a command chair and don't forget to place an SAS unit since you will need the extra torque, if you want to get science then the lander can is the way to go. When landing/taking off you can go as low as 14Km into a safe orbit. Here is my Tylo lander from the Jool-5 challenge. Needless to say i didn't have the necessary ÃŽâ€V and barely made it to orbit with RCS.
