  1. Well, it's not like the HL series is unconventional in any way. Basically 3.75m with the sides cut down, creating a shape very similar to the space shuttle's mid-section. Any different approach would sacrifice the ability to combine MK3 and conventional rockets. Going by the picture, it seems like porkjet made the sides deliberately identical to the HL's form. Imo a good thing, since B9 and MK3 will be interchangable.
  2. That's some crazy speed, i didn't even unlock the 2nd level science complex.
  3. Now i have to play for a while without ferram. Easy to forget how the game feels without this and kerbal engineer. Can't wait for getting back the thin atmosphere, but for now i'm enjoying the carefree soupusphere.^^
  4. Looked and the version is still 0.25. Also, it just went offline. Probably crashed.
  5. Btw, if you need a break from the hype: Some blizzard guy explaining the rocket history while reproducing these rockets in ksp:
  6. Rather try to sleep now for 30 minutes, that's a very effective way to replenish energy short-term. #ksplifestyletips^^'
  7. I'd say it's today. Max's wording is just to big of a hint, and, afair since the ARM-delay, the KSP-team really was spot on in timing the announcement, previews and release extremly close. I trust squad to find the perfect timing. While I might just be wrong anyway. To bad those people have days lasting 6 to 9 hours more, it's already 22:00 over here.^^'
  8. Ikr, it's a great update if it doesn't only bring the stuff you wanted, but also the stuff you didn't even know you wanted!
  9. But what if you put an MKIII cargo inside a MKII cargo bay. Think about it.
  10. Good ol' germany, said to be in europe.
  11. Yeah, the as a whole is less the mathematics, more the 'add one battery and redo DV for all stages'. You also shouldn't underestimate the barrier before getting an understanding of a specific calculation. People aren't made for math, so that can be a very tedious process and look very hard from the outside. It's certainly a bit nerdy - there is a neat german term for it, namely fachidiot^^ - to see the simple logic from the inside and then wonder why other people can't do those easy tasks.
  12. Thanks for the update! Looks great. Nvm me being late to the party.^^'
  13. Neat, those were always a great help. A small request, can we have something 1.25m capable to fully enclose used science bays? Real annoys me to perform an atmospheric entry with an open lab.
  14. Yeah, i noticed the 180 was a bit out of line. Personally I think balancing the prices around the relatively expensive stock nerva might be a good idea, matching the lv-n to the ftmn180. Or maybe going a bit lower, the lv-n is actually priced around the idea of being op.^^
  15. Nice! The new engines look much cleaner and more consistent in their design. Like it, even though i have a weak spot for the old big nuke and it's convoluted retrofuturelike design. Looking forward to the hexagonal engines for the same reason. edit: Still seem to be quite useful with the new config. The price's are extremly high, tho. Cost isn't important for reusable or recoverable craft, but it limits versatility. E.g. I don't think an FTmN400 really justifies being much more expensive than a mainsail. Ships using the latter for long range missions would be more cost-efficiently (not to mention skipper's, ARM-engines). Similar results when comparing the less performant but cheaper KW-rocketry engines. A 23k kw craft+crago can get as much milage as a 45k FTmN craft.
  16. The Hollow Structures and Hulls mod does exactly what you want. It's out of date and might take while to get updated, though. If needed, there are alternative links on page 43. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/29031-0-23-5-Hollow-Structures-Hulls-(Updated-2014-04-09)
  17. We also have to keep in mind that real rocket programs, like the development of the V1+2, missile technilogy and early space rockets had monstrous funding behind them. The V-rockets alone had whole complexes for hundreds or thousands of people created just to develop basic rockets. Compared, the kerbal using the cheap assets seems almost realistic.
  18. Btw, i like the design. It has the right amount of humor, if somewhat low poly compared to the modern facility, and is something we will probably move away from in little time. Just a nice way to show with how little you start and how big you get, instead of a monstrous spaceport from the beginning. I really like that theme, because it kinda mirrors your path with ksp. Stayputnik is a highly developed remote controlled computer. Being realistic would mean purely programmed missions with little to no ability to influence after launch.
  19. Depends on your pc, it's bugged right now. I managed to launch a 6.5k ship before, but now it breakes the pad every time. It's probably just better to disable it or to try clamps.
  20. The point where you have these buildings doesn't coincide with any form of modern technology, it's more about people builiding the first functional - if basically useless - rocket. They don't have much, love to experiment, and are very capable technicians. I think that kinda fit's the current theme.
  21. Sounds like a very good idea.
