  1. Title is self explanatory. I'm trying to land ships on Duna with DRE. But designing them with heat shields and still landing them is a pain. If I do need a heat shield, can I just use a fairing from Proc fairings instead of the ablatives? I want to land a few of my ships on their sides, so I need to protect the landing gear.
  2. Also, the LHC is 29km in diameter. Good luck getting that into orbit without breaking the bank.
  3. It's not widely known, but it is real. I didn't learn about it until I went into the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum. It was a design that mounted the Orbiter on the side of the external tank, then strapped the whole thing to the top of a modified Saturn V SI C. The SI C was designed to fly back to KSC and land similar to the Grasshopper. It was canceled due to the expense of it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturn-Shuttle
  4. I'm not superstitious, but it looks like 2014 will be a good year for me. Evidently, finding a spider in your house is a good omen. Finding one spinning a web is an omen for increased income. And finally, it was on the wall, meaning some wish of mine is supposed to come true. Three positive things less than two hours into 2014? Keep it coming. Happy New Year, everyone! Happy T-(what?)21 days until the Chinese New Year.

  6. If you don't know what it was, than it is, by definition, an unidentified flying object. Now where it came from is a different story...
  7. In order: Lottery winner whom invested millions of USD in the stock market and has since seen his investments quadruple. (Not going to happen because I don't play the lottery.) Astronaut (pilot) Pilot (anything else that will fly and won't get me killed) Astronaut (anything else) Aerospace engineer (thank you, KSP)
  8. Remember, English is a language. And (technically an improper word to start a sentence) languages were originally meant to be spoken. I could be wrong, but isn't writing just the way of recording the "spoken word" in a non-auditory format? Languages were not developed to make you twist your tongue to say a sentence.
  9. IIRC, he said he wouldn't take his own life, but that he knew he would be a marked man for the rest of his life. No point dwelling on something that never happened, though.
  10. What about some line that looks at the UT in the persistent. Something like: If UT= 0 then "new save" I don't do any programing, so I don't know if it would work.
  11. I did this in 2010 with the Civil Air Patrol. Please see links: http://photobucket.com/CHASE-1_best http://mdcap.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=article.display&articleID=724 http://www.capvolunteernow.com/todays-features/?md_members_reach_stratosphere&show=news&newsID=12325
  12. Don't know yet. Its only 2AM here. Time to get to sleep, I guess.
  13. This goes without saying: only do something to overcome your fear if it is safe to do so. For example, do not decide you are going to climb a 200ft cliff without a rope, instruction, or, at the very least, someone else to call for help if you get hurt. Also, NEVER run away from a situation that frightens you unless you are in immanent danger. I made that mistake too many times trying to overcome a fear of spiders. Took me 8 years to get over it.
  14. I'd imagine that would depend on whether or not you could control it. I know a person who was a B-52 pilot for several years that was afraid of heights. If you are afraid of heights and want to join a space program, I'd start working on getting over that now.
  15. And, its back again. Rebuilding it in .23, now with 50 heavy struts, KJR, 5m stacks, and struts to the fairings. Its not even surviving long enough to get of the ground. What is annoying me though is that it did get off the ground before I added fuel lines between the boasters and the core on the first stage.
  16. Do what I'm doing and help out online, then. I'm 13 hours behind them but I still help out.
  17. Here is another one: Being able to jump ahead (but not back) in time to a certain date rather than waiting for 15 minutes at full time warp for a phase angle.
  18. Alright, tell me what you would like me to do.
  19. Any solution that requires sacrificing lives is not an effective solution. Period. Never mind the political fallout (pun intended) if the people of a free country, such as the U.S. or E.U., found out about such losses due to a launch.
  20. I'd love to help, but... ...I have dyslexia and have been told that my speech is slightly slurred. Probably not the best way to teach a class English. Also, for anyone who may actually be able to help, do you need any type of paperwork to be filled out? Where I live (Baltimore County, MD), we had to have our parents fill out a release form if we wanted out names and faces to be broadcast through any type of media. Edit: If its something that involves non-verbal communication, I can help.
  21. Damn, I'm just finding out about this now.
