So, after familiarizing myself with the basic premises of the C# programming language, I was thinking that it would be need to try and make my own parts from scratch. Yes, I know there are tutorials on the wiki, but some require Maya and others Unity and blah. So I picked up Blender and Gimp and would like to see what I can conjure up; I was thinking just a basic fuel tank. Does anybody have any get-me-started tips, tricks, or suggestions? The wiki can be a bit vague at times so I would like to make sure I'm not doing something terribly wrong.

KW Rocketry and NovaPunch are pretty good part addons, although I hear KW Rocketry may be discontinued. Either way, I recommend checking out both.

I really hope KW Rocketry will not be cancelled. I've messed around with NovaPunch a bit but it can do some weird things to my game. I love the simplicity and elegance of the parts, and would be quite sad to see it go. -
Greetings from New York City! I'd consider it a quite pleasant place, many people are kind and willing to help strangers. New York, despite being the most populous city in the country at 8.3 million citizens, is not the capital of New York State, although nuclear weaponry seems to have a thing for us. The mayor of our city has done some weird things, like instating a city-wide bike service (which is actually kind of popular) and trying to ban sodas in large containers (which flopped miserably). That guy's term is nearly over, although several of the new candidates are involved in sex scandals, so, um, yay?

You people have scarred me for life. I myself have also heard of a pretty bad one, but I'm too afraid to go and link to it. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Got it! I knew that eleven foot pole I bought at Home Depot would come in handy. http://www.ammoland.com/ It's not necessarily a forum, but users can post comments on articles, so you can still appreciate how poor the quality of discourse is in some parts of America. Why can't we be more like you, Canada, UK, and Australia? We suck at this. -
I believe the fifth planet to receive changes is Moho, although I am not 100% certain.

None as of yet. I haven't done much yet, but now with permanent death, I will only man proven designs that have been mathematically calculated to achieve their purpose and have at least two escape systems. I worry that I am taking this game a bit too seriously.

Precision Landings?

So lately I have been wondering exactly how to perform a calculated, predictable descent with a designated landing site and all. But, as you can tell, I have no idea how. I understand that for smaller, atmosphere-less bodies it's not too difficult, you just overshoot a bit and cancel out your velocity over the site. But what about bodies with atmospheres? Is there any way to calculate the drag coefficient in order to determine where I'll have to deorbit that spaceplane or capsule to land at the KSC? Or ae you supposed to just eyeball it. This isn't a particularly pressing issue, but responses are appreciated, as always.

I find this an intriguing yet scary thought. Knowing that you are completely at the mercy of extraterrestrial beings that are smarter and more real than you are. But it's a nice feeling, as well. You do not actually exist by the Programmers' (that's what I am going to call them for now) standards, but neither does anybody else. I wonder if we build a large enough space station we can lag the system...? This would be an interesting thing to teach children in school, but I have no doubt it will be more contentious than evolution for the proceeding centuries. Too bad, I guess. -
I hope we don't get to 0.126. Assuming we get about 6 nicely-sized updates a year, it will take 18 years to get to that point. I think if any game is in development for 18 years someone is doing their job wrong.

In that case, there is an app for smartphones called "Dragon Box 2", I believe. It's a bit expensive, but it helps.

I use it occasionally, and I don't consider myself cheating myself when I use it within reason. I don't do anything crazy like putting fuel tanks inside fuel tanks inside of fuel tanks, but small RcS tanks in command pods? Sure, if done within reason.

Faster than light? I have no idea. If it ever happens, it will be an out-of-the-blue surprise invention. Interstellar travel, though? That's significantly closer. The in-general goal of several space programs is to have an interstellar probe ready by the year 2100, although due to the abomination that is American politics, I doubt my country will be able to take any credit. I've also heard that interstellar travel could REALLY open up around the 23rd to 24th centuries, so... Though if we manage to find mechanical avatars to upload our minds into, that's another story entirely. /evilgrin

The Rio Scale is a method of measuring the significance of a possible extraterrestrial, measuring from (No significance) to 10 (Extraordinary) based on certain criteria, such as location of origin, whether or not it is readily observed, whether or not it is meant for our species, the purpose of the anomaly, and the credibility of the anomaly. Here's a website that allows you to create your own fictitious scenarios and see how groundbreaking it would be: http://www.setileague.org/iaaseti/riocalc.htm As a side note, it's kind of disappointing how the only way to get a 10 is to have an absolutely reliable, steady Earth-specific message or artifact, verifiable by repeated observation or investigation, capable of contact or a physical encounter, observed by SETI or SETA, originating from somewhere in our Solar System. Yep, we're totally going to need to classify a situation like that.

Ah, not quite, although that would be amazing. The person you are talking about will live to the age of 150 years, not 300 or 400. Give it a century or two from now, though.

Plockets! Looking good so far... Liftoff! Well, sort of... Uh-oh! This is the most awesome benefit for plockets. It is at this point that I notice one of the crew members is named 'Barwise'. EDIT: Sorry the images aren't bigger. I am not aware of a method for easily resizing several images at once. The capsule is parachuting down in the penultimate image, if it's not very clear.

I enjoyed this track quite a bit! I have no idea what training the crew will be like, but pending on that this may work. Either way, it's good. Keep it up!

Same. There is just so much that I want to know. I suppose the biggest of those will be answered within my lifetime (whether we survive as a species, past 2100 we should be fine), but what after that? Where is the nearest star system with life? Where is the nearest extraterrestrial civilization? What are they like? How similar are they to us historically, evolutionarily, biologically? And what about our species? Will humanity ever become a significant power in the galactic scheme of things? If so, what will we do with our power? How will we achieve such a status? Questions like these have no method of answering other than waiting for the answer, and I would gladly relinquish my mortality on order to learn the answers.
