  1. Eve's I think, but Jool more likely to give you a capture, as it's bigger.
  2. That's the one problem with my theory. And gonna take a fair bit to keep them at the correct angles. Maybe someone who knows more about making planes could analyse if it would be possible with KSP's parts. At best, you'd need a lot of cores for the torque. Or maybe reaction wheels, when 0.21 comes around.
  3. To lift even heavier things, You need more boosters. Most of my lifters are similar to Stupid_chris's design. Extra pairs of Boosters can be added in strategic places. You can hold Alt to copy sections of rocket, and this avoids having to rebuild a whole booster each time. You may need to add extra engines (via radial placement) on inner boosters to maintain your thrust. Always remember your fuel lines, they should be arranged so fuel is pumped from outer boosters (or the ones you drop first) to inner ones (last). This maximises efficiency.
  4. 10Km probably won't do it, maybe you need this innovative and completely crazy kerbal aerobreaking technique I just came up with five minutes ago. Needs big wings on your craft.
  5. Next, violently aerobraking. I wonder if it would even be possible, given Duna's thin atmosphere, seeing as it didn't to much for you in the vid.
  6. Next: Use this data to do it without cheating! We're gonna need a heap of fuel.
  7. Rendezvoused with the capsule in Moho orbit. It was in a polar orbit, perpendicular to Moho's orbit. Several quicksaves showed that I would just make it if I escaped to Kerbol orbit first. I used backups of many quicksaves, and needed all the telemetry plugins I had to even get a Kerbin encounter. &*(&%$#/ Moho. I hope the 380m/s left is enough to put them on an aerocapture trajectory. Also, I scanned Eeloo and landed a rover. Not quite where I was aiming, but that's ok. Loving the look of the stock wheels on the ice. May add pics later.
  8. I like this idea. That would make IVA a lot more awesome. (For the record, I haven't played SH3, just did a bit of a Google before replying to this thread.)
  9. I can't see any reason EVA would be restricted to one part of the ship, unless you're using magnetic boots or Velcro, or something to hold yourself to the decks. Upgrading your ship can kinda be done by docking extra parts to it. But craft re-use could involve adding new parts to a ship you got safely back to the space centre maybe. If you want tension, try getting back from Moho with a tight delta V budget, when you're starting from a highly impractical orbit. Add the life support mod, and it's even more tense. Docking is challenging enough, but the addition of some sort of docking view might be handy. Remember, things that work in one game aren't always suited to the style of another. They have different experiences they intend you to have. . But, no reason why some ideas could not be borrowed.
  10. It does. You still have to check each yourself though.
  11. A lot make sense now. Thanks guys. It's a bit late at night for me to much maths here though, I'll just have to take your word for it, and read that thread some other time. I now consider this question answered. Next time I play, I'll have to practice precision landings with this technique.
  12. How did you come up with the name BTW? It intrigues me.
  13. Sorry to hijack, but what about docking vessels that have different flags? Anyone tried that?
  14. Gravity loss is the main issue, ok. More than the fact that you'll have greater horizontal velocity to kill? I expect there must be a happy medium, last time I tried landing from an extremely low orbit:
  15. While definitely can land, sometimes, it can get a bit hairy. And if it's very hairy, sometimes I need to let mechjeb do it for me, which feels a bit like defeat. I'd like some advice on how to maximise the efficiency when landing. I tend to use a manoeuvre node at the end to give an idea of how long it's going to take to kill my velocity, but this often leaves me almost still in mid air (vacuum?) Or I end up violently lithobraking. Not desirable. Any tips, links, or other advice you're willing to give, all greatly appreciated.
  16. Crew manifest doesn't do that, last time I checked. It seems like something we'll need someday, if stock life support is added. And it'd be a lot simpler than searching the persistence file when you want to find out where a certain kerbal has got to.
  17. Not even with unbreakable joints on? But then, I'm sure I've broken things that have had unbreakable switched on.
  18. Glad you guys liked it. I've got some ideas for the second part cooking, but might not be posting them too soon after 0.21, as uni starts again for me in a few weeks, and I probably should get some non-kerbal stuff done before that.
  19. I've seen Eve done with a reasonable amount of parts ,so it's not impossible. It would still be expensive though, which I think will be the main issue in career mode.
  20. I seem to be experiencing this too. Got a rescue mission to Moho doing its capture burn, in a very full 0.19 save, and it's running smoothly, and a Probe orbiting Eeloo in my 0.20 save, mapsat scanning. The Moho one is running fine, but the Eeloo one is stuttering slightly.
  21. Put Jeb and Bill on trajectories back into Kerbin's SOI. Bill contemplates the red planet he just spent two years upon, now finally leaving. This thing should just be able to pull Bob's casual home. I hope. Damn Moho. Also, I have been infinigliding for a whole day. This has travelled some 35,000km. Some sort of record perhaps.
  22. That's awesome! I wonder if you played about a bit, you could launch just enough weight with it to impact the Mun with reasonable speed, and carry enough fuel to land a tiny probe. Until then, this is the most kerbal launch vehicle ever.
  23. I wonder if it would be feasible using ion engines. You'd need less fuel, if you used periapse kicks, and put up with extremely long burns. Landers would have to use more conventional engines. I wonder if the game could run the necessary amount of xenon tanks.
