Just putting it out there, I hope it has a huge storage depot for all the Jumbo fuel tanks I use....
-
Your dialogue is brilliant. But I suspect you need something else to explain terms like retrorockets and aerobreaking, as your English teacher may not know what they mean, and it is supposed to be explanatory.
-
I'm all for realistic space games. But some of the manoeuvres there still seem unrealistic. Mainly turns, and this could just be the camera angle. But it has potential. Also, welcome to the KSP forums!
-
That's a really good point. I'd love it to change. Maybe in career mode, time will still pass in there, adding pressure to construction. That would be hard.
-
Not a kerbal, nar. All respect to them though, they are fun to hang with.

Whackjob's Ode to the new build and the saves soon to be gone
Tw1 replied to Whackjob's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I just like the pictures..... The songs' not bad either. P.S. Maybe this should be in fanworks? -
Felt like making a launch vehicle. So I did. Made a double size version of one I made a while back. Was aiming for 100t LKO After ironing out problems, I let MJ2 test how much it could actually lift. Would've got 125t into orbit, with 10m/s to spare, if MJ2 hadn't goofed the circularisation burn... Came back from preparing my lunch to find it falling through the atmosphere. I think I'll label it as 125t +, and use it to launch big stations and interplanetary craft in 0.21.

Continued with returning 0.19 kerbals home. I got the Moho crew into orbit, the unbalanced VTOL trouble was minimal, thanks to smart ASS, a quick change of engine, and a quick change of the control point. They made it to orbit with fuel to spare. Then I had suffered a spontaneous unplanned disassembly. Just after quicksaveing. To make things worse, turns out I'd launched in the wrong direction. The carrier module didn't have enough Delta V for the trip to Kerbin after an almost 180 degree inclination change. Time for a rescue. I put this in orbit to use at the next window. But the Moho team will no longer be claiming the title of first interplanetary travellers to get home any more. Had more success returning from Dres. Everything went flawlessly, and I docked two ships 100% manually. To celebrate, all three kerbals went on EVA at once, breaking safety policy. It was great fun. And they are good to return, with ample delta V. Next, I must get the Duna team to orbit.
-
(My) First 100% Manual docking! CELEBRATION! :D (Fuel exchange and decoupling occurred after) The Dres Exploration team will be going home! Even Jeb seems impressed. All those mods cluttering the screen weren't needed. Now if you'll excuse me, I must go dance around the room. Jeb and ... friend, Just hanging around in orbit.
-
If you managed to hit Laythe aiming to go to Duna, you have much to learn, young padawan. Today, I got team Moho into place for lunch and rendezvous. Bob enjoyed the two hour drive. As the "Mojo" might be short on Delta V, and I'd prefer to minimise the amount I need to use from the return module, they drove to the point under its orbit. And dropped the last rover probe to get a photo. After experiments on the Mohoian planes, it will be time to return. It they succeed in returning I will have... Got my Mojo back! ba-dum-tish! Jeb's Dres team is also ready to return. They are at their last site: All the return windows are a few days apart. But their arrivals on Kerbin will be months apart.

EVA Kerbal Planetscraping Challenge
Tw1 replied to Dweeb of Kerbin's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
No video, but doing this is awesome fun. I'll be watching with interest, and may have another go later. -
This I like best. As there are times when everything doesn't all explode.
-
Only one of my interplanetary voyages came close to 115 tones LKO in one launch, so if that was one lunch, you must've been doing something right.
-
Saw them. And oh my gosh. Beautiful, realistic, and with enough reminiscent of the old ones to satisfy. And less poly count? Brilliant! Arg!! Got to wait still... At least this gives me time to finish my voyage to Jool before starting anew..
-
I hereby present my thread where I did this. With a teaser: Edit: Must've missed that parts clipping trick. Maybe I will finally be able to put them into orbit.... Also, a few non-stock parts where used, but nothing that contributed to the thrust produced. Another Edit: Oh! must've missed this
-
I think it would be fair enough. Anyone who has spent a while working on something may upset to learn that they won't be able to carry it on into the next version, so it would be polite to give a warning. Don't forget some people look and read the forums for ages before making the jump and joining. I did. Edit: Saw your edit. Now people reading this are going to be looking up and down to make sense of it, haha.

Dug out 0.19.1, it ran quite well on my new, more powerful computer. I'm going to get the kerbals who were still in space when I changed to 0.20 home. That's right Bill and crew, we're going home! From the pole to the equator, and the lander is in sight. Next got to get Jeb to his ship.. And get Bob off Moho, then they're all meeting return modules in orbit, and we're going home! IRL, I got home today too, after passing all the (model) planets.
-
Somehow I must've sensed this. Maybe that's why I've just been mucking around with probes and starfighters. I do hope craft files can be transferred across though. And flags, I hope to keep the ones that mark certain spots, by copying them across. Apart from that, looking forward to the things this update may lay the groundwork for. They could do so much...

Would Laythe be capable of sustaining Kerbal (or human) life?
Tw1 replied to Burke112's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I imagined the volcanism to be more like that you find in island chains here on Earth, and not a major impediment to living there. The cold, and radiation would be the impediments. -
Yeah.. I deleted that part. Was curious enough to see what it looked like, but I'd never subject my Kerbals to that. What did I do today? In KSP? Nothing, as I'm 380km from my computer. But, IRL, I drove past three planets today and will go past the rest tomorrow. Well, models of planets. They're part of the world's largest scale model of the (real life) solar system, with the observatory in the center representing the sun. Visiting should be good. Edit: Coonabarabran is supposed to have New South Wales's clearest and darkest skies. And though it's freezing outside, the stars are amazing right now.

It reminds me of Sydney tower for some reason...

Only one thing to do. TO THE MUN! Examine that video, determine the approx. location they were at, (this is done using Kerbin position in the sky) and land there. Warp until the shadow on Kerbin looks right. Then experiment! Bonus if the Kerbals you take are named after the mythbusters.
-
I tried and tested a probe to send to Eve, but canned it. Later delivered a different probe there. It was partially successful. I developed a shuttle that could take satellites up to Kerbin-synchronous transfer orbits, then land at KSC2. The parachute version worked ok. But the winged version wasn't very well balanced, and was hard to fly in space. Didn't land that well either. It was canned. I did have plans to send stations with lander and kethane miners to Duna and Dres, and make multiple visits to different sites, between the arrival and return Windows. But this was canned when I lost most of my craft in the 0.19 to 0.20 transition. Then I decided to focus on probes for exploring the two outermost planets, and developing a manned one way Eve mission. With a possible Mun base as well.
-
Alternatively, there is the EVA parachutes mod. You shouldn't need a canon to deorbit a Kerbal, they've got about 500m/s of delta V in the jetpack. That's how I've done it. I did attempt to use a canon to send them back up there though. Things got kerbalish. My conclusion- stick with planes and rockets.

TT's Mod Releases - Development suspended till further notice
Tw1 replied to TouhouTorpedo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Engines are here! Yay! This brings the mod's powerfull-er wheels back into balance! Looking forward to trying these when I get back.
