  1. From the EVA report, it says some sort of fine crystal, but doesn't necessarily rule out melting action. Some have suggested sublimation, which could explain the lack of erosion patterns, but then you'd expect some traces of atmosphere unless it was very slight. Then there's the kraken egg theory... That said, I like the melt and reform theory, it covers it well. Perhaps the substance it's made from does melt, but very slowly, and is very viscous..
  2. Nicely done, I'm impressed the station core managed to stay in for the whole reentry. I also find a good talking to is the best way to prevent criminals reoffending.
  3. There are some impressive looking vessels there, a pity the concept didn't work. I notice you've stacked the ion engines in one of them. Did that give extra thrust? I would've thought they'd block each other, like regular engines do.
  4. I've tried that, and it tends to be less practical due to the way Unity does wheels. They only have one point that's actually meant to touch the ground, so if you angle them too much, you get problems. A work around for this could be to use several wheel colliders, each at a different angle, but I bet that would complicate things a lot.
  5. Couldn't this energy be recaptured with some more science magic?

Well son, that's because Santa's SRBs are magic SRBs. Special, north pole SRBs from Minmus.."
  7. That's an interesting idea, not what I would've thought. Particularly with KSP, I enjoy mucking about on the Mun, pressing the science things, etc, but a lot of the fun comes from watching things like bases and stations evolve over time. This reminds me of the debate over contracts/missions. Some are wanting missions that define what they do in the game, others, small tasks that can add on to their own plans, giving them more fun challenges, rather than not planing missions themselves. Good luck working that part out. And thanks for the info, good to know saves aren't breaking this time 'round.
  8. Wellcome! May all your rockets fly true! Unless of course, you don't want them to.
  9. That's a cool photo. Yeah, orbital veiw does that. Going for a walk that way is amusing. Someone left a horse head at the old airfield. Should I be worried? Oh wait, that was me. They should be worried. Also: Fully operational Santa sleigh! Quite epic. Made it to reenact a song.
  10. I like the cartoony style of your kerbal.

It's an Aussie Christmas classic. (For a moment, we'll just ignore that the original song's author turned out to be a terrible person) One more verse, head that way ↓↓↓↓
  12. I'll probably make a fair bit of Christmas stuff, so might as well share some here. Even capable of landing. Mostly stock. Needs infinite fuel, but it's currently on the way to the Mun I made it for a song...
  13. Tweakables could break some things, if they do change what fuels nuclear engines use. So either put of, or finish those missions before updating.
  14. I did it with ion engines, but bigger, mod ones. Many of the mod parts in this were also lighter than you can achieve with stock, unless you do something very clever. This album was made to show my mission sequence, and the design stuff. It's still a pretty cool ship. At it to the already impresive pile here you can use for inspiration. I called this probe Joolius Xena.
  15. Nuclear engines to orbit! (With the help of nine RT-10s for the first bit) Fun with fuel lines They probably don't add to the physics... My next station must have a fuel line playground.
  16. Oh dear. These Erasers seem like trouble.
  17. KSC launched a special probe, loaded with gear to assist the mission. Again, the official story was to prepare for a mission to Laythe. It is packed with tools, supplies, and with sensors waiting to gather data on Eve- during a gravity assist that is. It only took KSC one extra visit to add things they neglected to install before launch. Things like the transmission equipment... The Minmus Institute of Science also made a launch. Somewhat disappointed with KSC's apparent underutilisation of the Eve window, they launched a probe of their own, bound for Gilly. It would be the first proper investigation of that tiny moon. Then, it was time to wait. * * * KSC Three days before eve window... Matdas Kerman: "What sort of rocket is that?! Isn't that a mainsail on the transfer stage?" Kerrick Keman: "And each stage has solid rocket boosters, even that upper stage... Huh?" Scott kerman: "You are correct in your observations. This is a Soprano Seven, a vintage model from the early days of rocket science. Before we knew about orbits, and all that." Matdas: "But isn't this rocket for Watsan? You know, (whispering) the Eve guy?" Scott:" Yeah, mission control wanted to give him a challenge.(whispering) If he can fly this thing, he'll be fine living on Eve." Watsan's trip to the Mun
  18. Haven't been doing much on it lately, but I did manage to overcome an exploding in the track problem. As kerbtown doesn't look like updating any time soon, I've been thinking of other ways to link track together, using bits of code from from KAS and P-wings, though I have yet to talk to the guy who made P-wings. Hopefully I'll be able to get some help with that, as I have no experience in doing that kind of thing. I'm also planing on remodeling the train bogie, as the current model is not that well made. But probably won't get back into it until some time in the new year.
  19. Ohhh dear.... That bit's not supposed to still be there.
  20. I can't take full credit, as I used parts from downloaded models, and mashed them together- crudely at parts, though this was my first go at texturing something. For a long time, I've been thinking about hypothetical physiology for mermaids. Long story short, one issue is the transition area where the humanish side meets the fish-like side. Often the link seems odd, the body doesn't fit together in a natural way, it's an obvious joint. This design was influenced by the shape of seahorses, the only other sea creature that spends a lot of time upright, and looks good like that. Haven't worked out how to get the lines to go away yet, and have yet to attempt giving her some clothes, but it's fine as inspiration to my bioengineering and surgical team as a reference when doing drawings.
  21. Needed 1000 science to develop nanolatheing technology, to get back to building shiny bases. Time to go digging on the Mun. One tiny little engine will push us there and back. Visiting two sites, and four geological environments, Kerrick brought home the science I needed, and more. Getting home was very close, had no fuel to use choosing a location. Fortunately water landing turned out not to be an issue. What did cause a slight problem, was Kerrick's exit. He slipped and fell between to segments, splitting them apart. But fortunately, I was able to recover all the science from the various bits.
  22. Behold, the cubic strut in all its majesty! Scrounging around for science on the Mun, because all kerbal technology is based on rocks they found lying around the space center, or on the Mun or Minmus.. Or perhaps this is a rover herd migrating? Nice day for a launch: Power problems continue:
  23. Ooo, that could be cool. I have some plans for one of those things, but only can reuse the imagry in that video. Yes, I made it purple, because reasons. BTW, anyone got a name for them, apart from baby kraken?

Welcome to KSP's forums! You can escape Kerbin, you could try to escape Kerbol, but you may never escape KSP itself! (Seriously, you've got to have discipline around this game and its associated forum, or you can spend hours on it you needed for something else.)
