Hi all, With the upcoming release of KSP version 1.0 and procedural fairings I thought it would be pertinent to make and release one last hurrah for lovers of stock fairings. So here I have made a mini Atlas V 541 launcher and satellite. Complete with an over the top, part count be damned stock faring. I have really enjoyed making small fairings out of cubics and backwards solar panels. I even don't think many others made these either so they are a rarity and I personally hope they live on even after the 1.0 release. The Atlas V itself is a very accurate replica complete with 'off center' boosters and a detailed Centaur second stage. It is capable of placing the payload into a 190,000m orbit with fuel spare to de-orbit the Centaur. Weighing in at 620 parts its not for the faint of CPU but this kind of detail comes with a price doesn't it. Enough talk! Pictures! There she is. After thousands of hours of KSP very few things are 'difficult' now. I'm worried about unplanned failures that make little sense compared to the real world. From which we all base our understanding of 'how things work'.

"Bits of rockets falling off" sounds strange though.. I really hope it's not overdone.. Because that would be limiting and not 'fun'. Sorry to be all doom and gloom but I have a bad feeling about this.

So whats the challenge here? Also a vehicle with four wheels is a quad. So far this seems like you are just trying to get 'airtime' for your quad bike.

I'm always happy to get more stock parts but I'm in two minds about these wheels. They wont look good slapped on the bottom of wings due to the roundness of the shell. And the small ones cant be moved at all from vertical as the body covering them would strike the ground.. What would be perfect is wheels that adjust themselves to the surface they are attaching to. Or ones with a flat base so we can recess them so they look like actual wheel bays, flush with the surface they attach to. Also the little ones look like they are from the fifties.. Ho hum. We will see when 1.0 lands.

I wouldn't bother mate. All stock hinges where, before the cargo bays, not that useful. Yes it was a nice design trick but it was glitchy and ugly. They used legs to open and as such couldnt open very far..

Looks like Squad got the fuel/air mix wrong. But yes, also why don't the mini mainsails produce smoke? They are burning rocket fuel.

Hey man, great looking bikes. The design could be cleaned up a bit and a seat added too. The suspension doesn't seem to do much but it looks really cool. I am inspired to try something now. Good job. MJ

Those wheels break @ 20m/s. Have you tried it with some weight on the shaft?

I love crazy craft like your car. Sadly any surface inside a part will not create lift after the 1.0 update.. You could have them as the undercarriage though. That may work after the update.
