So a few years back Jeb tried to fly off Minmus with his jetpack. After getting to orbit he insisted that he go all the way back to Kerbin. I may or may not have ordered him to do this due to budget constraints (LKO recovery is cheap). He ended up in a high Kerbin orbit. Unfortunately after the space program accomplished a manned mission to Gilly and back I noticed he had been ejected from the system by the Mun. I promise I'll pick him up when he nears Kerbin again. Promise.

How in the... ever notice this?
RocketPilot573 replied to Xannari Ferrows's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Or Kerbals had global warming problems, eventually leading to the atmosphere being toxic. This would explain why there is no civilizations anywhere, and they're so obsessed with space travel because their planet is ruined and they need to find a new home. -
Pretty much, I think the devs are underestimating the meaning of "1.0." I would prefer if we get the update as planned, but keep it beta.

The interior of the VAB is a different dimension. -
Vanishing Asteroid
RocketPilot573 replied to Crusher48's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
It is likely that the asteroid was not saved due to the claw part. When switching craft, if there is a claw part loaded then all craft will throw a NullReferenceExeption and will fail to save properly. -
Developing Duna (pic heavy) - ^_^ with Part 11 ^_^

I say you just kill the clone, run it over with a rover or something. -

Those solar panels are kinda big... Actually really hard not to crash into them when approaching. The station itself is buried in the solar array. -
Just bought it today. And all I have to say is... Wow. Summery: This game is a complete rip-off of Simcity 2013, except it's the polar opposite of a rip-off.

I added the first fuel storage to my space station. It was done by adding some extra boosters to my reusable rocket (40 ton payload is slightly too much). Nosecone away! Now lets burn from 0 to 2000 m/s! Falling booster... Whats this? The rocket didn't fall into the ocean and blow up? The station, the two upper stages (the things with the engines) where jettisoned shortly afterwords.

A question about the Atlas V Rocket
RocketPilot573 replied to SlabGizor117's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Interestingly, that is NOT any form of symmetry. The Atlas V is weird, I think the thrust on each SRB is different to keep everything balanced. -

Space Station... I still need to add fuel storage but the solar array is complete. -
SpaceX just confirmed the new Falcon landing site.

This is probably the last update on my SpaceX style reusable rocket, since it is pretty much complete. This time I'm launching a solar panel array (and this is only the first section). I have no idea why the guys up in the station are requesting power generation of this scale, maybe I should investigate... During a "simulation" it was found that while the rocket could land, during that time the second stage reentered and was lost. The issue is that the 1st stage finishes it's launch with an AP of around 90km (going straight up), the 2nd stage decouples at about 40 km to burn to orbit. However this payload was so heavy that it could not get going fast enough to give me time to land the rocket. This was resolved by adding a second Skipper engine to increase the TwR. Unfortunately I have no pictures or evidence of the landing because the video up-link was lost when the rocket went below the horizon. No, really, I swear I mashed F1 plenty of times, the pics just didn't show up -
That's what I was thinking.

Alright, this time I landed the rocket after a real mission. Course correction after 2nd stage made orbit Dead center on first try! -
I landed a rocket.. SpaceX style.

Good news! I have rebuilt the previously destroyed boat. It is now a 26 by 26 meter square. Coming in! Notice the severe buckling of the deck under the thrust of the engines... Landed! ...and yes, it can remain stable as long as the SAS is not turned off. -
So can anyone explain what;s the point of Mk3 plane parts.
RocketPilot573 replied to Kerbonautical's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Not enough lift? This flies just fine. You can make bigger wings yourself. Though for part-count reasons, yes, bigger wings would be nice. -

So I'm working with this new rocket... I originally wanted to land it back at KSC (after launching almost straight up). But that flight plan turned out to be too aggressive with fuel, so instead I would like to land it on a floating platform 100 or so kilometers away. I made this boat, this version is the prototype. TEST 1: I never use Mechjeb's autopilot... So I told it to land on the barge. TEST 2: Here I am using Mechjeb's "Landing Predictions" while manually steering the rocket to keep on course. This is much more promising. Opps TEST 3: IT WORKED! Wait, is it just me or is the boat capsizing.... Shoot TEST 4: Ok a little more in the center this time We're gonna need a bigger boat. -
I also think they do photosynthesis, only thing that can explain how the can live in space for years with nothing except their space suit..

0.90 Contracts, Mun, where be ye?
RocketPilot573 replied to T.A.P.O.R.'s topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
For some reason the game seems to have stopped giving contracts for unvisited bodies. I usually enter the Mun's SOI, then exit to the space center and then Mun contracts will start popping up. You have to go to he Mun, the game will not tell you to. -
Please fix Gilly for 1.0
RocketPilot573 replied to kahlzun's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Every planet is like this, it is just more noticeable on Gilly because of it's size. Though I do agree with you, it does not seem very professional...
