After spending a few months on your tiny, yet excellent island, I have come to love roundabouts. I think most intersections should be replaced by them. But they do work equally well in both directions. Wait.... are you implying that England/UK (I'm assuming) is no longer part of Europe?

Why do most news programs have the same setup? Why do most FPS games act very similar? Why do we drive on the right side of the road (or left if you're weird and like causing issues for global automotive corporations)? Because it works, and it follows a format. There are KSP youtubers out there that have different formats. Danny comes to mind. Also the cinematic movies are different. If you can come up with a different/better format, then use it, or suggest it so another tuber can do it. But there aren't a lot of different ways to play a game with a narrative voice over.

Why aren't crash reports auto-submitted?
Gargamel replied to kfsone's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Just because it is easy to do, doesn't mean you should. See above for reasons why. -
Merging rockets how does it work.
Gargamel replied to halbert5150's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
It will go like that. Try changing the root part to either the engine or the docking port. That might help. -

Secret Sound Easter Egg Thing! [Might be Chatterer]
Gargamel replied to waterlubber's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I think the Screenshot would have more accurately described a smell...... -
Aliens may have tapped into out networks and are using KSP to understand our current levels of technology and spaceflight capabilities. So I'd say the 7.3 billion is a tentative max. Interesting side note though: The alien's liability insurance has prevented them from invading and conquering us. They have determined the high probability of any captured assets performing a rapid unplanned disassembly of both the captured and capturing assets to not be a justifiable cost.

Water on Mars! quick add some to Duna!
Gargamel replied to Brainlord Mesomorph's topic in KSP1 Discussion
For those that keep saying this is old news, try reading the articles. This is active flowing water, in a liquid state, not evidence of ancient water, or water trapped in ice, or subsurface water, but Liquid Water currently on the surface. I would venture this may shift a few priorities at NASA. Might get another rover over by some of those flows to test for life. -

This time it's water currently in a liquid state on the surface. Read the article. -
Who needs accuracy when we're going for mass destruction over a city sized area?

you can rename vessels from the tracking center!
Gargamel replied to peachoftree's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I've known about this, but there are other stuff I don't know about. Part of the fun of this game is finding new stuff. -
That's kinda what I was thinking.... Have a high speed re-entry with a few thousand of these raining down on a city....
-
Soooo.... this got me thinking. They say during a major meteor impact event, the debris falling back to the planet would ignite fires all over the place and raise the atmospheric temperature a significant amount. Sooooo... let's say you made a big enough kessler bomb. Took it to a high enough orbit, but with a low enough pe to re-enter, to carry some serious momentum and fired off your bomb as you approached re-entry. Could you have a similar affect on a smaller area, such as a target city? Or would the energy required to get said vehicle to orbit negate any energy you added/returned to the planet? Or would the different types of energies involved (fuel is potential, re-entry/impact is thermal/kinetic) not be offset as they were stored differently? Just a random thought, probably troll physics at play, but a thought none the less.

What's your preferred way of breaking the universe?
Gargamel replied to Sgt.Shutesie's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Time dilation. I load way too many mods for my system to handle, and then the frame rate becomes glacial, making the game and the universe unplayable. -
My comment was in response to a comment that said the coin flips were dependent upon previous results. I'm not doubting in the bias in the game, far from it, there is way too much evidence to deny it. There was just a separate discussion happening within the thread.
-
So.... since Kerbal A is female..... or the last coin flip was heads.... the next result is affected by the previous result?
-
This I think I disagree with. It may be true, but we cannot know as the rest of the other systems never flew as many missions as the STS did (Soyuz maybe?). Apollo had one fatal accident and one near miss, out of what, 11 manned missions (plus SkyLabs)? Mercury had 6 manned, Gemini 10 (correct me if those are wrong). Most of the programs never flew enough missions to get a good enough sample size of reliability. I'm not saying your wrong, just that we can never know just how reliable those other programs really were. The STS didn't have it's first fatal incident until STS-51, it's 25th manned flight, and then STS-107 (113th manned).

I know we're beating the dead Equine here, but it still baffles me. We're not asking to limit Squads PR to just the forums, just to post here first. If that just means Opening this browser window first, that's cool. Then immediately post everywhere else. These are the official forums, we're the main customer base (I'd hope), we deserve at least that much.

I saw this thread and looked at the join dates of the first few posters. Kinda explained things a bit.......

Why should you expect any one particular result? Assuming each coin toss is non-dependent upon any of the others, 28-2 and 15-15 is equally likely, along with all the other possible combinations of 30 flips. It's only when you start looking at dependent results (ie, runs of heads in a row) do the odds start to vary. If we toss the coin thirty times, and repeat this set of flips 50 times over, and every set of 30 is around 15-15, then I would contend that is anything BUT random. So to answer your original post. Yes, "random" in computers means something different that in statistics. Most computers cannot create a random number. It just can't. And if something they did with the AD mod affected the seed generator (or more likely, fudged up a line of code somewhere), then the RNG may have a bias installed.

While an interesting point of discussion, and one of those "huh..." things, I don't see it being a real issue in the grand scheme. It could be that Kerbals have an Amazonian style social structure, and the females far out number the males. The reason we only saw male kerbalnauts for so long is that the females are using the men as "guinea pigs", waiting to see when the Space Program was safe enough (by Kerbal standards) for the females to venture out onto the surface to participate. They initially offered up the males that were deemed unfit for breeding (I'm assuming due to various psych reasons) as test pilots. - - - Updated - - - Or run it over a long enough time frame.

While I have been there, and done that (I still learn more about the game often enough), I lol'd a bit at the thread title. One of the things that makes this game great is the lack of any instructions. It's so kerbal in that way. But as the others said, there's lots of great tutorials out there. But I would recommend playing at first without knowing anything, the learning curve is what makes this fun.

heat bearing? I love the atmosphere... cue the thousand other threads on this topic.....
