SSTO orbits now very easy?
MartGonzo replied to Jas1126's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Interesting..I'm certain;y glad the mk2 are proper lifting bodies but this trend towards difficulty nerfing is getting a bit much -
Caves, get my old caving gear, try finding me at the bottom of a 200 foot pitch ya smelly brain munching b***ers

Hahaha remind me to never play civ multiplayer with you! well.... it doesn't matter if we get a bit wet, our techs have bee-lined transcendence

SSTO orbits now very easy?
MartGonzo replied to Jas1126's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
So.. I'm curious, have there been any mention of aerodynamic changes from the devs? can anyone confirm their old craft handle differently? I can't really offer an opinion as I've been using NEAR since I started on .25 a few days ago. -
Lot's of great games in this thread, it's been a real kick in the nostalgia's looking through these posts I've played pretty much all of them but due to reasons of OS, broken or lost disks etc. there aren't many I can still play. The oldest games currently on my drive are Alpha Centauri and (GL)Frontier

now, that we really have stock cargo bays...
MartGonzo replied to JtPB's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Isn't Fine Print becoming stock in 0.26? That adds satellite contracts. -
Deadly Reentry: not so deadly?
MartGonzo replied to SpaceLaunchSystem's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
There should be a button in the top right of the space center view for a quick config for deadly reentry to select easy (default) normal or hard, it's quite hard to see as it's a white square (at least for me). I get mixed up, is that the single man command pod? because the single man pod has a heat shield built in, as long as you have ablative shielding in the resources panel it's working but it does default to very forgiving settings. -
In a scale of 1 through 6, how efficient are you?
MartGonzo replied to Commissioner Tadpole's topic in KSP1 Discussion
maybe a Xacktar scale would be more appropriate, 5/5 for big, silly, spinny and explodey things somewhere between 3-4 for me on the Efficiency scale 0 on the Xacktar scale -
What would you want in the next update (0.90)?
MartGonzo replied to EvilotionCR2's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Good point, I forgot Unity is due an update -
What would you want in the next update (0.90)?
MartGonzo replied to EvilotionCR2's topic in KSP1 Discussion
otpimisation and bug fixes -
I'm glad I read this thread before updating, it seems like .25 still has some issues. I'll check it out but definitely going to stick with a modded .24 for now

My Eve "lander" that never even made it through the upper atmosphere. apparently putting a large mushroom shaped inflatable heatshield on the bottom doesn't go down well with aerodynamics.
-
Drone Riots! yep, still the best ever 4x game
-
Part combining does seem like a good idea for various reasons, not least of which is better physics performance. It would require some very clever coding though I think, as instead of working out the drag on each part during atmospheric flight, the computer would have to work out an overall drag model for the ship pre-launch.

Thanks for the reply I did use the right format at far as I can tell, after reading a post on here and your comment just confirmed it. maybe the issue was the way I saved the album.

Always on the hunt for simplicity and efficiency, so here's a really simple Munar lander It can get to either of Kerbin's moons, do a large inclination change and land or two landings on the Mun and return. sigh...can explain what the hell is the problem with imgur albums? it worked... then disappeared

x64 not using any 64bit memory?
MartGonzo replied to BoomBoom's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I never believed that 'Unity issue' thing. I was running the x64 hack for 23.5 for over a month with no issues at all, whereas the new 64bit executable runs like crap compared to x86 and crashes all the time. -
R.A.P.I.E.R. engines... do they suck or am I using them wrong?
MartGonzo replied to chrise6102's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I noticed something counter intuitive with Rapiers, on a successful flight up to a rendezvous and landing at KSP again I had more oxidizer than fuel left. so that even though Rapiers eat through oxidizer it makes sense to take some out in the hanger and make the plane lighter. -
Temperature is a great idea as long as it doesn't add a performance hit, mine's struggling already. I'm not sure I'd want it to affect the flight model though, icing up windows and contrails in the right conditions would be ok but dropping out of the sky because of ice buildup on the wings would be a bit too hardcore for my taste.

[1.12.3+] RealChute Parachute Systems v1.4.9.5 | 20/10/24
MartGonzo replied to stupid_chris's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'll give that a try thanks really awesome mod, I tried the spaceplane chutes today and it's just an amazing addition to have these chutes deploy on landing That's a good idea Starwaster, the refund mods mean that I have chutes all over the place so that will be a time saver. -
That's great, makes me want to get back into FSX, I seem to remember in one of the missions there's a tricky DC3 landing tucked in between Alaskan mountains.

Well I love survival horror but I can't vote for slender just because the game mechanic is so boring even the newest one is still just to collect a few things without the slenderman getting you. you might want to try Outlast instead, it's a thousand times better and scarier and the story is (somewhat) based in reality (CIA's MKUltra experiments) I suppose KSP is going to be the hot favourite but keep in mind that there are loads of career playthroughs on youtube at the moment

watched 4 satellites fly past the respective bodies they were supposed to go into orbit around because they didn't have enough fuel for the retroburn. I really have to come up with a better system than guess and hope for the best

Imo the greatest track of all time, although I can't quite put my finger on why
