  1. It's not the best trailer Squad have ever put out. For me it's too far removed from what you actually do within the game, and looks completely different with it's enhanced graphics. If I was new to the game, having bought it on the strength of that trailer, I'd be asking myself why the game looked so different and when do I get to the part where I can play the mission controller.
  2. Yes it is running on Wheesleys but to be honest, it doesn't suffer that much from sideslip.
  3. Nah, it's a lot easier to cheat and fit a vertical stabiliser inside the fuselage.
  4. Inspired by a thread by someone who was having problems achieving stable flight with their own Horten, I thought I would build one to see if it was possible. This is my effort. Pilot Notes Take off speed is around 60 m/s This Horten is sedate rather than spirited, so controls are a bit slow Action group key 3 will toggle the airbrakes, though like the other controls, they aren't overly effective Don't try steering on the ground at higher speeds, as it has a wicked tendency to ground loop. Craft file can be downloaded from Dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/s/teohb853huq2zuw/Horten.craft?dl=0
  5. I wanted to create a challenge that would be fun for anyone who entered. It's a sad fact of life that there will always be individuals who will cheat for the sole purpose of seeing their name at the top of a leaderboard, completely missing the whole point of the challenge. Thankfully I think we have a pretty good community in KSP and cheaters don't seem to be anywhere near as prevalent here as they are in other games/forums.
  6. Nice entry @Not Sure I'm going to round your altitude up to 2900m to allow for the lag between dropping the boosters and taking the screen shot. It's not immediately clear that the boosters under the wing were dropped at the same time, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
  7. Just put the finishing touches to this one. Doesn't serve much purpose, but it is fitted with a Jr. docking port, so can be used for crew transfer to stations in LKO. Harpoon
  8. Did that quite a while ago. Think it still works in 1.3. Actually designed it as a plane only to discover that it works really well as a sub too. It uses the jet engines to rove, but can be pressed in to that role if required.
  9. I built one of those too. I managed to get it to fly fine, though the pitch response was a bit sluggish. What I had problems with was getting the damn thing to track straight down the runway. I really had problems getting it to build up enough speed to take off before it veered off in an uncontrollable mad dash for the scenery.
  10. I had something similar to this in a previous version of KSP. It worked quite well so I thought I would re-build it for the current version.
  11. I downloaded your craft and managed to land on the runway with no problem, but I did make a few changes before taking it out for a spin. I changed the function of the wing elevons so that they worked for roll only. Similarly with the tailplane, which was changed to work in pitch only, and I also increased the throw to 110 from 85. I removed the deployment of the tailplanes from action group 2, and changed the direction of the wing elevons so that they went down instead of up on deployment. I adjusted the landing gear, dropping the nose gear slightly and raising the main gear slightly, so that the craft wasn't quite so nose down when sitting on the runway. The final change I made was to fill the fuel tanks up, but that's not really imnportant if you want to fly around with less fuel on board. I uploaded the tweaked craft to Dropbox if you want to download it to try. https://www.dropbox.com/s/vhd921gy7a1grea/LKA-1CII.craft?dl=0 Dropping the flaps helps to slow down when coming in for a landing, and the craft is pretty controllable so shouldn't be a problem to line up with the runway.
  12. If I have a problem with a mission the first thing I do is organise a rescue mission. No one ever gets left behind.
  13. Manned mission landing (and safe return from) all of them. Moho is difficult due to the dV required to get there and slow down once you arrive. Tylo was a nightmare to land on because of the fairly high gravity and lack of atmosphere to help slow you down, and it took me quite a while before I was able to put a mission together that was good enough to return from Eve, and I've only ever been there once with a manned mission.
  14. In a previous version of KSP, where I had built numerous bases on Mun, each with refuelling capability, I built a hopper which I guess operated in a similar fashion to the Eagle craft from the TV series Space 1999. The craft was fitted with rover wheels for travelling short distances, but also had small rocket motors to give it vertical lift and forward thrust which allowed it to travel over much longer distances.
  15. @Rocket In My Pocket Nice entry. I've added you to the Leaderboard. I'm still running 3.1.0 so have no idea if Hyperedit is borked in 3.1.1. Hope it gets fixed if it is.
  16. Thanks for the kind comments guys. It's nice to know that efforts to put something back to the community, even if it's just a simple video, have been warmly welcomed and it's much appreciated.
  17. Ok guys, I will look out for your entries.
  18. Oh wow, that's very humbling. I didn't even know there was such a thing as Thread of the Month, so I'm absolutely amazed to be included in such a list.
  19. As there have been no takers for this competition, I declare myself the winner. I doubt anyone will be interested but the lowest start height that I managed to complete the task successfully from was actually 4400m but, as stated in a previous post, I wanted to post a score that I knew was beatable to encourage people to have a go. Ah well.
  20. I haven't done any astrophotography for some time now, but here's a couple of images I took a few years ago. Enhanced colour moon. Orion nebula
  21. I love Italy. Been many times, have owned Italian bikes and cars, and love Italian food. Welcome to the forum.
  22. You might like to try this one https://www.dropbox.com/s/qsu11tef0p330rm/Apollo.craft?dl=0 It does require you to download a mod though, as I have used a non-stock lander can for the Munar Excursion Module, because it looks better than the stock one. The mod I have used is the Alcor Lander Can and can be downloaded here https://spacedock.info/mod/1203/ALCOR Action group keys used on the craft are listed in the craft description. Basic flight operation is use the first 3 stages to get to Kerbin orbit and perform the Munar injection burn. While inserting to Mun and the payload fairing has been staged, use the appropriate Action Group key to separate the craft and extract the Excursion module. The lander is a 2 stage vehicle and once on the surface, the descent engine can be deactivated. When ready to return to orbit, throttle up and stage. That's pretty much it.
  23. If you can find the folder that your KSP was downloaded to, you will find the application in there that you can open directly without having to use the launcher.
  24. Simple plane knocked up in a few minutes to meet the basic challenge. Take off weight is 6.293 tons. Position at engine flame out On glide approach to island Landed and stopped
