  1. Isn't just the first stage 6.25m? I said what I said because as far as I remember it has been told the first stage will be a resized S-II and an adapter plate. In respect of FASA it doesn't seem to be too difficult for 3 more F-1's to handle. I'll give it a test too.
  2. With an adapter plate for 8 F-1 engines. C-8 has only a slightly bigger first stage so no need for a more powerful engine.
  3. It's good to see amateurs aiming high. If they can prove cost effectiveness the way they want, than this has a great potential. The capsules they are developing are also professional.
  4. Have any progress been made on this mod? It really would be good to see it finished. Maybe I can help in some parts.
  5. I bet the primary point of the touchscreen is the reduced mass of the panel. The Soyuz control panel is heavier and bigger. I think it would also reduce the possibility of a fire and the crew and life support components has a bigger space. The PTK NP capsule design is aiming for similar solutions too.
  6. MrTheBull Could you give an alternative download link to the mods sometimes soon? Spaceport will be shut down today and the current links won't be available.
  7. For Jupiter I always think about the SDLV one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jupiter_%28rocket_family%29
  8. Weren't the 60's great? What the article states in the first paragraph is interesting. If LUNEX would have been continued a shuttle and solid fuel boosters could have came earlier. I never really thought about it earlier but sounds like a better way than Apollo mostly because of budgetary constraints. It would have been cheaper. Of course technical difficulties is another case. I guess the no.1 thing caused the USAF most of the headache was re-entering a glider from lunar orbit. I've never even tried that in the game.
  9. Well, the Redstone was, so the Saturn must have been as well. There wasn't too much difference between the V-2 and the Redstone propulsion and vectoring system as well. Interesting how these designes are linked together. Thanks for the info and the link!
  10. 'Army Ballistic Missile Agency'. So basically the the Saturn series was a military design? Strange. I never knew that.
  11. Personally I like this one the most. This engine placement seems to be more stable for me so if anything, I think this one should have been the real Nova I guess. Wonder how much it would have been cost.
  12. I think for the second stage 3 F-1s are going to be enough.
  13. I never thought that this many people would fly mercury missions from an IVA view. Not like I despise it, but I'm surprised.
  14. That's correct, rocks should be separated by biomes. Samples from the highlands differ a lot from the ones of the oceans. But it seems to be a next level thing to do. First if it's possible to scatter the rocks Mun-wide it's already exceptional.
  15. Exactly what I wanted to say! I just didn't know how to.
  16. These are meant to be rocks smaller than a Kerbal's head. Rocks that small couldn't contain any gas or liquid anywhere and that's why it's not realistic but materials could be added to them in the .cfg just like fuel and oxidizer. Gases like kethane can be found in large reservoirs under the surface like how the mod imitates itself. There is a mod in development which uses KAS grab with a drill, so Kerbals can drill into the ground for kethane.
  17. Just like asteroids can, rocks could too. But wouldn't be realistic at all.
  18. I think that's a more complicated modification to replace the backpack and having the Kerbals able to store parts since it would be a part of them rather than storing the samples in a single KAS container. But Syndic has to decide. I like your idea but it would simplify the work you would have to do with the rocks I think. This way you would have to do more extended EVA-s to bring the separate container itself to site and if the container is full, than return it to the lander. Also should require working with an LRV. Of course, my way may only make surface operations just a few seconds longer but perhaps a bit more exciting.
  19. Well, the only possible solution I can imagine is if the KAS grab item position parameters are set correctly, so you can have it attached in front of the Kerbal rather than on the backpack. Without going to RCS mode to just make their hands 'hold' the rock would require a plugin and the grab module should trigger it. That would require a plugin I think. Actually, I think the RCS backpack shouldn't be on them while conducting EVA on celestial bodies. Texturereplacer could help with this. But that's another story.
  20. Wow, that's a nice one! I see you have used the EVA RCS control mode animation, right?
  21. Good idea! As for textures for the objects I'd suggest to use Mare basalts (pictures of course) since they'd look more rocky and detailed. With fairly high definition textures they could look very good as they are quite small objects.
