Apollo Mission Pack Development (Beta version released!)
Reddragon replied to iamaphazael's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Hi! Excuse me, I should have edited my post already. You are right, I messed it up a bit. The problem occurred when I copy the Mk2 lander can's reaction wheel lines. Then I just copied the moduleSAS MODULE and after that it was working fine. -
Apollo Mission Pack Development (Beta version released!)
Reddragon replied to iamaphazael's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I started to use this mod again but I have a problem. I added the reaction wheels and redone everything needed for .22 but the LM pod is unable to use it's engines. in the VAB it doesn't show that it contains any fuel. It's just like any other command pod. Does anybody know how to solve this? -
Sabre is true. I think it was said that planets, asteroid fields etc. will only be added after tweaking RAM usage and maybe even changing to a newer version of Unity (or something like these).

There is someone who made temporary (yet quite good looking) textures for the Apollo Mission Pack CSM/LM but he didn't release it I think. One option is the LH MEM v3.0 or wait for Lovad's world space pack to have it. There's also the Apollo like crew module, altough that doesn't include the SM, it looks very good. -
I really like that many people in the scientific sphere have spoken for a manned return to the moon. I doubt that even if (the US congress/president whoever accepts NASA missions and goals) gets the green light would happen before 2025. If SpaceX Falcon Heavy is going to be really as powerful and cheap as they say it may be the best option for a lunar return but I don't think as SLS is going to be done, they'll want to use a private company launch vehicles for any BEO missions. It has been said that LEO is for private BEO is for NASA. The governments are still going to rule this for a very long time. At least the human exploration part.

Very nice textures. How much could it affect the RAM usage? I mean all of the new High resolution texture upgrade. -

Interesting question. It's mostly a practice of continuity by now I guess because of the historical launch vehicles. Many are named after astronomical objects like Saturn, Centaur, Jupiter (conceptial LV), Ares (conceptial LV), Orion etc. But mostly it's sort of a speciality of the US space program. In the Russian or Japanese barely anything is named after mythological concepts. Ares made sense because it's the Greek equivalent of Mars, the Roman God of war and also the planet which was the very goal of of the now gone constellation program. Also it's Altair lunar lander which means eagle, a reference to the Apollo 11 lander and also a star of the Aquila constellation (which also means eagle). Shuttles definiately broke this unwritten "rule". So does SLS. -
Nothing really. It just adds a bit of realism scince real life pods have a fairing as well to keep them away of being damaged by the L.E.S. engines in an event of abort. I also use it for my Ares I like designs for the SRB top cover sometimes. Thanks. So it has been mentioned. And what was the conclusion?
-
I don't know if it was mentioned before but I continuously encounter a problem with the interstage fairing. If I use it upside down (I usually use it like that), it keeps reshaping itself and copies the width of the widest part of the rocket below it.

I like the new Soyuz. I was off for a while fro the forums so I don't know if it was asked but will the Proton also be redone? -
Very nice work but there are some problems with the other planets. I took a look at them with hyperedit to see if everything is fine with all but I encountered some weird issues. Different from the ones with the Kerbin system. Here's Duna: This is the light side: This is the dark side: Dres didn't show up at all somehow on a higher orbit than 800,000m (but it did at 80,000m). Interestingly Jool didn't have any problem for now. I didn't check the others yet.

That's very impressive! How did you do it? As I see it's not entirely the same as the stock mountains but maybe I'm wrong.
-
That's the Apollo Mission Pack I was following for a long time but due to the lack of free time of the mod team it's development has been cancelled.
-
It does absolutely. So you have decided to do the R-7 as I see.
-
Ah, so it's that. Sorry, I only knew it as Kerbin Mini Shuttle. I have been following that for a while.
-
Excuse me maybe I missed something but what is the KSO mod?
-
Well, sort of. It's true that the Kosmos pack now has the long tanks with the engines but they are just 1.25m parts as far as I remember so they are like they could be booster stages for an Angara but the core stage still needs to be stock parts. But really Angara's booster stages has the same diameter as it's core stage.
-
I see that you made it in a normal 2.5m size. In my opinion it doesn't really need a mod launcher (like the cBBp Dragon). It should be nice with stock parts with Procedural fairings. But if you really want to add the booster it should definiately be the planned Angara 5 or 7 scince those are the launch vehicles which actually will be used fo the PPTS. I know it's not easy to make though and I don't want to push it of course but it would be very original and a good idea.
-
This may sound silly but I think Minmus should be the 2nd moon of Duna maybe and Gilly should be an asteroid (it looks the most like an asteroid and has the lowest G) not far from the orbit of Kerbin between Kerbin and Duna after Duna is moved to it's right place. I say this because current plans for human exploration involve asteroid visits just out of Earth SOI. Therefore this may be very realistic and eventually exciting to do exploration missions to an asteroid. It also may make carreer with this mod fairly easier scince after Mun missions players could turn on to explore something gives them quite a lot of science points before taking a way too huge leap after Mun to Duna.
-
Right. Just for comparison: Ares I:
-
I tried to launch Ares 1 from American pack and it was awesome. I tweaked it's ISP of course but now it works well. It's also very good that we can start gravity turn as early as in real life. NathanKell Thanks for the heads up. I didn't realised that the texture pack was in your sig all the time(I feel dumb now).

Did you change something with Ares 1 configs? It seems to be much better now. It's not wobbly and the 2nd stage works perfectly now. Anyway good job. -
There's still the bug with connection points and clamps or something with the mod. Rockets that heavy collapse immidiately. F1 engine works well at least. Anyway does anybody remember about the additional Saturn style textures for stretchy tanks? I remember someone made it but I can't find it. ferram4 The 2nd picture is perfect.
-
With stock parts, almost impossible. Rebalancing parts can help. I think to best option is to mess around with engines' ISP.
