What episode should i produce next for "The Kerbal Show"
Spaceisbeautifulul replied to rewdew2's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm Kerbal Krylls, and this, is not water. -
Oh yeah? Well... well.. I got a bigger one! All those specks of light? Yes, they're stars, and our Sun is tiny compared to other stars, and that black hole is tiny compared to the sun, so its no contest, really.

Dang man, was it a long video, or was it a crappy computer problem?

Hey der. No but really, welcome to the forums! A month is pretty good for landing on the Mun and an encounter with Duna. It took me one month to learn to get into orbit, another to get to the Mun safely, and after that things started speeding up. Aaaand, I finally beat Cap'n Spunky to a new person! Flawless victory!

Just writing down a couple ideas I've had: Ideas for heat-shields: 1: A metal heat-shield that drops off after use. Pros: Easy to use, just set it up on the ship, then detach it. Creates less weight after use. Requires little to no electricity. May cost less?? Cons: Heavy during/before weight (main concern being the launch). Only good for one use (if someone underestimates the aerobraking maneuver, they'd have to use precious fuel to correct it). A inflatable balloon type thing, with heat resistant tarp, or something else over it. Pros: Able for use as many times as you'd like (within reason) A wide range of possibilities of how to assemble it. Cons: Requires electricity to deploy/retract May not be sufficient to slow down enough Ways to assemble: You can't see it, but they used balloon type things to use for this. They were along the sides and top and bottom and engulfed the craft. (fictional picture, its from a movie "2010 The year we make contact" This is actually a heat shield idea NASA has been working on, it is a disk placed on *insert your idea of where it should go here* and when it is needed it just puffs out on all sides *not out though*. This might be a more practical idea, but then again depending on the size of this ship, it might be a struggle to create one big enough, in which case you should revert to the other idea ^^^. It may also be (depending on the ship) a long struggle with the reaction controls system (RCS) to keep it where only the shield is heating. A good thing though, is that it may cost less to implement. Those are my thoughts on designing the heat-shield if we need one. I think I did a good job on this post if I do so say myself *shameless self-promotion*.

A couple questions before we start creating designs: What will it be? A space station? A ground base? Where will it be? I think Mars's moon Phobos would be best, but it would need some tricky maneuvering to land on it. If you like that idea you should do some research on Phobos.

A fresh start comes with a great success! [Picture heavy!]
Spaceisbeautifulul replied to Odo's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Well, the thing is, there really are no good tutorials out there. The way I learned to dock was with one stupid move that showed me the basics. I was around minmus, and I was trying to dock, and I did all this stupid stuff, and got close, then spun out and repeat. I eventually ran out of RCS, but getting close was an accomplishment. A day later I tried with a more simple design and around Kerbin, with no pressure because both could return, and hey presto! Just like that! It does HELP to watch some videos, I guess my video was my older brother who could dock showing me, but that was 1-on-1. So I know this sounds cheesy but just keep trying. -
Yes it is. Unfortunately I just deleted my save and started fresh, so I no longer have it. Take my word for it though, and everyone else's.

The number one rule on all of my crafts is have a docking port. Its because if I underestimate the amount of fuel, maybe I can dock a tug and save them. Maybe you should try that if you initiative is to not leave anyone behind? -
Err uh, sorry I can't help you with deciding on the design, I think I'll be in by maybe the end of June with any luck?

RIP Radon "Spaceplane" NEW Pt.2: The Astatine Project
Spaceisbeautifulul replied to Skyhawk's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Very well written. Also, that looks like a nice plane design, what was its flaw? -
Hum, I could help you out a bit. I'm free for most of the summer. Speaking of which when will this be? I might not be able to participate depending on the time. But yeah, I'm interested.

If we didn't have Sol, true we wouldn't live, but we could see tons of stars without Sol's light blocking our view.

Design deadlock: Does it happen to you?
Spaceisbeautifulul replied to AmpsterMan's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Well, usually a docking port does the trick. The number one rule in my space program is always have a docking port. No exceptions. -
The one thing that really grinds your gears.
