So Guggy's X-38 was sleeping on the Island runway resting up before the next day's battle vs the Stealth Weasel by Redshift - when all of a sudden he is woken to a startling sound of a screeming whine... the X-38 got a few shots through the Phantom... and I mean through. totally through, to no avail. turning on his six and giving no quarter, this thing is simply out for revenge... and looks wicked doing so... i don't want to meet this in a dark alley. Download available soon.

After the previous King was reduced to dual ignominious missile impact clouds, the various parts came back together, albeit in a more menacing form I present to you my next craft: the Phantom of Papa-1: it's comin' for ya...
-
All craft updated on OP. If your entry is incorrect, please simply post back what you want your entry to look like on the OP. Mediafire links are not working per forum rules. Suggest using alternate links. Nice job! Good test on setting things up. Try an island matchup test, and dont forget to cycle to at least every plane once during pre-game flight and at least once during battle. My current videography is to try to video the battle mostly from the challenger first, then next round the loser of the previous, and then in third round the loser in the second round. I try to follow at least one missile shot using the ] and [ keys to switch to it, and if any plane is being chased, I generally like to film it from the targeted plane's perspective since Camera Tools will immediate switch to chaser (usually) after the kill. I can't wait for transparent cockpits in 1.1 to see the doomed Kerbal's faces in their final moments. It will add to the drama.

Added to your roster. I'm thinking one active challenge entry per person. Not fair to watch a match against your own planes. Do you want me to make this your current entry then? replacement, second plane, or second entry? second entries not permitted yet. I should probably add that to the OP. no fun to watch a self-challenge.

The island runway limits the designs of aircraft to prevent large bombers. And if one ever makes a vtol bomber, im not sure how the AI would handle that, or how well it'd be able to dodge missiles. I think turreted planes have their own sets of problems to overcome... maybe more so than conventional. Well... we will see. thats the point of ASC. To prove or disprove these things. I say let's hold off until we see some actual recorded results and what players come up with to compensate.
-
I understand your concern. If a turret King becomes unbeatable without turreted craft, we will reset the series and consider a rules change. But I want to see what really happens in competition and what evolves as a result. The point of ASC is to see what constitutes an OP Kerbalized BDA craft so BD can make improvements based on our feedback. We are doing aircraft. AKA flying weapons platforms, but flying and maneuvering nonetheless. The idea is to find ways to defeat an opponent. If no one can defeat an opponent, we will consider a rules change (and the champion memorialized on the hall of fame).

something like this and these colors: http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-311013611/stock-vector-blue-wing-logo-wing-logo-eagle-logo-freedom-blue-logo-auto-logo-vector-logo-template.html

Concerning turrets, they are still allowed. ASC is about as much unconventional design as conventional. In other words the purpose of ASC is to produce an AI aircraft that is unbeatable for Career use. Effective turrets are advantageous in close quarters but at the cost of precious manuverability, aim time, and use of regular cannons. I expect missiles at range to defeat a turreted plane. I am sure this thread will provide @BahamutoD much feedback on balance.

yes. you can even submit different fighters, and with different AI and weapon settings.

[1.1] BDArmory v0.11.0.1 (+compatibility, fixes) - Apr 23
inigma replied to BahamutoD's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I've noticed a strange bug using Camera Tools and BDA - that sometimes pilots will be doubled - as if the cockpit module is duplicated somehow. this happens even to planes that are spawned normally and not by vessel mover. i can't tell if this impacts the functionality of processing things as simple as using canons, or the effectiveness of ECM. Another bug I seem to see is that ECM and chaff does not appear to be effective hardly at all, and ECM is not turned on by the AI when needed either. Thoughts? -
be aware that if u have a turret, BDA AI will not use fixed cannons. Bring it up in the BDA thread to get this fixed.
-
I gotta troubleshoot why both teams cannons aren't shooting though. or at least not predictably.

...and in the second round the remaining X-38F got smart and just let the Weasels chase him in a spiraling scissors until the Weasels crashed into... um... each other. Spectacularly.
-
Holy... moly... just tested Redshift OTF's Stealth Weasel against Guggy's X-38F in a 2v2 pre-game matchup test and the game bugged the cannons (I think) since no side fired canon shots, and after knocking out one x-38F with a Aim 120, the Weasels acted like they were sick and tired of not winning fast enough that one of simply flew straight in on purpose to sacrifice itself to collide head-on with the remaining x-38 to win the round for the surviving weasel. Wicked. reminds me of that scene in DS9 and the dominion ship smacking into the USS Galaxy just 'cause it wanted its side to win. Too bad I didn't record it. I'll have to run a few more rounds to make sure nothing will bug out before I record the match, but .... eesh. I'm glad my Papa-1s didn't have to face the Weasels.

Just stand up a dedicated KSP 1.0.5 install with only these mods: BahamutoD's Adjustable Landing Gear BahamutoD's BDArmory BahamutoD's BDAVesselSwitcher BahamutoD's CameraTools BDynamics Mk22 Cockpits BahamutoD's DestructionEffects BahamutoD's Vessel Mover HyperEdit InFlightFlagSwitcher QuickBrake I use OBS to stream to Twitch my takes, and then of those takes I tell Twitch to export whole vids or highlights to my YouTube channel. Bahamuto has a thread on Camera Tools here: All you need to do is just switch it to Dogfight Mode, and make sure the option is checked to enable BDA AI Vessel Target. Then all you have to do is hit home to active the camera. Switch vessels using the ] and [ keys. I just need a backup host designated to run matches in case I don't respond within 7 days with a newly recorded match. Go ahead and run a test match anyways and get it published. Let's see how it works for you, and we might even consider a rotation to keep from burnout. Hit me up over PM so we can discuss match hosting privately and work something out. Aerodynamic break ups aren't counted as bugs, if that's what you mean. So yes they are counted as legitimate losses of aircraft. My cpu is pretty on par though, however I have seen occasions where my Papa-1 fired a missile into itself. Funny. Smacking into the ground at high speed if you set your AI alt too low is also a legitimate loss of aircraft. No. But it will make for fun entertainment and give your fellow competitors an edge into your AI's thinking.

Badge just needs to say ASC Champion, have some modern US Airforce style wings, blue and black and silver to the logo colors A separate larger logo without Champion on it for the OP too. if you're up to it, thanks!
-
My testing revealed it was either him or you. I look forward to your duel with Guggy's fighter next vid.
-
no worries. matches are easy to setup and record. takes about 30 mins overall. but i might not be as active starting next week, and my OP states one match per week. Even if I burnout, I will still update OP with results, or pass it to the next ASC host. The OP allows for anyone to run a match if I don't host the next slated match within 7 days of the previous one.
