  1. I actually didn't expect any posts. The reason I decided to use Aerospikes is a need a good engine that won't be too powerful. My other, smaller Rover/Launcher uses 4 of the Mark 55 Radial Mount Engines. They seem good for most of my landings, and they're also quite powerful. Would you recommend I try 4 LV-T45's? It's what I used of my first Rover to the Mun.
  2. Again I feel like "it's not good enough" for the physics engine of this game. Also, I'm using ingame cheats and MechJeb. So anyway, I got to get this... into at least an orbit around Kerbin. It's mostly Stock parts except for the fuel canisters of the rover. On liftoff, it's fine. But when I go to do my Gravity Turn, it spins out of control even with ASAS on. I don't get it. The Center of Mass is perfect (I think). I can't get the rockets higher, as that's where the landing gear is. And I read somewhere, that you want the engines to be low for landings. But I can't even get this thing into orbit, let alone land it. Please understand that I'm not even using MechJeb to fly this. I'm doing it manually. Please help me out here. I know I cheat, but I'm begging. I want to enjoy this game my way, and watching something I spent hours trying to think of a design of, go horribly wrong like this, isn't helping. If it helps, here's the Rover/Lander in the VAB, showing the Center of Mass and Thrust. I know the thrust is tilted because it thinks the rocket of the rover is a rocket of the lander, but my staging keeps that rocket from firing.
  3. Yeah, it does. I played with it. Gotta first use "transfer to another planet" and make sure I at least have a wide enough orbit around Kerbin, since it'll be a long wait 'till the next Transfer Window. Then I use "fine tune with target" which sets up the encounter. It's a semi-autopilot, but it got me to Duna three times, perfect orbit. Just need to do my capture burn, then tighten my orbit, then rendezvous with my Space Station. Very nice and takes the stress out.
  4. Rover Lifts? Ones you can put under your rover and land them safely on the planet surface after spawning? Ohh heck yes!! One of my rovers caused my test on the Mun to break apart, because it was too big.
  5. This doesn't work for Docking Ports. It selects everything that is attached to it, not its parent. Please fix it so it will.
  6. Aye. My simple Space Station causes my computer to lag when my ship is attempting to dock with it. I know why; too much lighting. But I don't feel like re-launching it (I really need to redesign it anyway so getting to the Docking Ports are easier, without risk of hitting the Solar Panels. And I seriously wish there was a way to test the lights before I get it up there.
  7. I really wish it was that easy. As I stated, I already tried that. It's still doing it. I tried saving it like this, exiting, going back to the VAB, loading, and it's still doing it.
  8. I'm having trouble with the Symmetry Mode of trying to build the Lander part of my rover, which uses a Mk1 Cockpit. The problem is, I can't get it to be at the same level as my original part. It's either above or below it, but it doesn't follow it. When I build a new craft that is a rocket, it works as it should. Also flipping the entire thing where the nose of the rover faces up, doesn't fix it. Here's a picture of what I'm talking about (using these decouplers as an example); I noticed this when placing the rover's wheels. I thought it was just the struts, but it's happening with the fuel tank for the Lander.
  9. I want to make a rover that can go really fast, and uses a Mk1 Cockpit as a pod. But I also need it to support a lander. You see, I want both the rover and the lander to be reusable; to get back up from a planet and rendezvous with a space station in the orbit of a planet. I've tried a design, but the lander's legs are in the way of my rover. I have to make a different lander the game will allow and will be flawless. And also won't be too big. So, could I get some help? Maybe some pictures of designs for this? I have this "condition" where I have a very hard time to think of an idea that looks awesome and also is supported by the game engine. And when I do, it looks too... noobish. And sometimes I like to just copy off of others designs, but give them credit.
  10. Yeah, I did. I moved the file from my saves, SPH into VAB, then went into the .craft file and changed the type to VAB. I should had mentioned that. My bad. My problem is, say the wheels. I do 2x symmetry, get one wheel on right, the other wheel is on upside down. EDIT: I tried to remove the front and have a probe instead. It still treats it as a Spaceplane. Argo, I have to rebuild the entire dang thing all over again in the VAB. Oh well.
  11. Built a nice rover. Problem is I can't get parts to connect right after moving it over to the VAB. I went into its .craft file and changed it to be in the VAB. Plus when I launch it, it says it's not a rocket. The reason I built it in the SPH, it's made for the type of rover I've built. Also when I end the flight, it tries to stick it back in the Spaceplane Hanger instead of the Vehicle Assembly Building. I'm thinking all I need to do is attach a probe or a pod, and it will think it's a Rocket. But I used the Mk1 Cockpit. I'm thinking I have to remove it to think it's a rocket, and if I add it back it'll think it's a spaceplane again. If so, that utterly sucks, because that cockpit is a perfect Rover cockpit.
  12. I've seen a lot of Youtube videos who's owners say that Duna is their favorite planet to go to. So I went there as an unmanned rover to check out the hype of what's so cool about the Mars-like planet. Upon touching down in a flat crater, all I saw was red ground, red rocks, and a somewhat red sky. So I went around trying to find something interesting. More rocks. More of the same ole stuff. So, where's the hype? I think Eve is more fun because it looks interesting with its radioactive ground and toxic atmosphere. Problem is I don't know how to get my basic Space Station that's in orbit around Duna, there. But I'll figure that out at a later time.
  13. Ok, good. That's all I wanted to know; a way to re-deploy once deployed before.
  14. I'm so confused on how to get this thing to work. I don't see a new part or anything. I put the folder in the GameData folder. I see nothing new popping up on my screen.
  15. I can still click on them as it's falling towards the ground, and I know when it's time to deploy them. I've landed on Duna multiple times (mostly crashing, but I'm training). It has 6 parachutes. So I need to have all 6 deployed at the same time. It works once with staging, but the problem is it only works once.
  16. I'll keep this brief. My unmanned Rover/Lander, I send it up to my space station, get one of my Kerbals to EVA and repack the chutes, then send the lander down again. The chutes won't deploy again. They are green in color as in they were deployed already, and get in the same stage as my rockets. I know you can assign an action key, but will it pop the chutes again after packing to help my decent? Some things cannot be triggered again, or deactivated once activated (such as coms).
  17. Hey again. I have a feature request, or maybe it's already there and I don't see it. But what about a Maneuver Autopilot?
  18. What I want to do is have a rocket that has 6 Kerbals in it. This is to fill up my Space Station that's orbiting Duna, and I don't feel like launching multiple rockets with 3 Kerbals each. Is there a mod lurking around, that I can spawn a Kerbal at the Launchpad? It'll make my life so much easier.
  19. I have a basic Space Station design; Solar Panels, RCS and Rocket Fuel, Ship Docking Ports. and two Lander Cans and two Habitation Modules. I'd like to know how many Kerbals can fit in just one of my two Habitation Modules. It'll let me know how many rockets I need to send to Duna, which is where my station is. It currently has two Kerbals in.
  20. Well, I'll take back all of those things I said about MechJeb. Seems ever since I restarted KSP, the Rendezvous Autopilot is getting smarter. Two times it got me close enough to my Space Station to switch to the Docking Autopilot, which I say is very awesome. Each time I use it (Docking Autopilot), I don't know how it does it, but it always hits the mark and locks on. And the Landing Guidance, despite what I heard about it stinks, is landing me exactly where I tell it to. This is exactly what I need for my mission at Duna. Kudos to the author of the mod.
  21. I got several complaints about Mechjeb's Rendezvous Autopilot. I'm not sure of this feature is still in BETA or not, but twice it has failed to get me up to my space station, and to a point where I can use Docking Autopilot. It goes under it, then when it tries to correct itself, it repeats the process it took to get there. The third time, it bugs out after doing the Hohmann Transfer. What I mean is the Delta-V shows: -68v, 35d, 3h and stays there. This also causes my computer to have horrible framerate. I can have 7 to nearly 3 FPS. Disabling the autopilot, makes my FPS go back to normal. Also, MechJeb seems to disable Quicksave. My ship would be not moving at all. I hit F5, nothing shows up. I'm testing the mod with a drone-powered rover/lander combo rocket (with ingame cheats). All stock parts.
  22. Awesome! That is exactly what I wanted, and without needing to use another mod! Thanks so much.
  23. No, I did not. So when I get it back up to the station, I can do an EVA to refill the chutes? Keep in mind the rover/lander would be unmanned, but the station will have Kerbals in it (of course).
