atlas Atlas D should be pretty straight forward, just the 1.5 stage Atlas rocket is enough to get into orbit (an atlas D was used for the Mercury 9 mission as well) I'd be a bit worried about the Thor Able, things get really finicky fairly quickly when building these early upper stages and payloads.. lemme look for the boiler plate mercury :-) http://historicspacecraft.com/ have you heard of this website? the mission highlight should make your Atlas easier.. " The two outboard engines had not separated from the centerline sustainer engine after their fuel was exhausted. The added weight of the booster engines retarded velocity by 3000 ft per second and the capsule separated from the booster 138 seconds too late. T he impact point was 500 miles short. " :-D http://www-pao.ksc.nasa.gov/history/mercury/bj-1/bj-1.htm

http://www.astronautix.com/lvs/thorable.htm here's your rocket for the first 3 pioneer (launches and failures) I don't like Thor rockets though, with my KSP replicas they always seem to fall in between the 1 meter and 2.5 meter parts http://www.astronautix.com/craft/pioer012.htm not the most interesting probe to shoot at the moon, but it was created by ninjas Big Joe was similar to Little Joe, but this time they popped the boilerplate mercury capsule on top of an Atlas rocket to prove an ablative heat shield was needed for orbital missions. I assume you have LJ covered already? I'd be happy to do some googling for you.

The biggest problem I found with the Pioneer missions is that there's just not enough small parts and that it's quite the challenge to get the Thors, Redstones and all the other small rockets to look good. No biggy. I had them on my dropbox already. Do with it what you want :-) Not sure about the Challenger and Colombia failures, just feels morbid and wrong. :-(

Great! I will keep an eye on this thread! I love stock replicas.. And here: I made these for somebody else on the forum a couple of years ago. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9346020/KASA.png Good luck! I was looking at that forum post the other day. Unfortunately most of the links were broken after the forum update

I have been thinking about giving it a spin as well. RSS is a bit too serious for the amount of time I have available for KSP nowadays but SSRSS would probably be an interesting option and get me interested in KSP again

Ladders shooting into infinity
WooDzor replied to awfulhumanbeing's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
It used to happen every now and then with my old crafts. But I don't remember having happen lately. Have you tried different angles of grabbing the pod? as in you're either aligned or 90 degrees rotated to the ladder? -
cheating.. having fun the wrong way? X-D

do you clip parts into each other? clipping sometimes results in unexpected issues like that.. -

Just copied this file into the folder. wow what a difference it makes not having those yellow lines! Thanks @5thHorseman -

So what happens if you open a craft with the fancy looking fairings in a stock KSP? Does it change it back to the original ones? That would make your craft stock, it'll be like using texture replacer to make things look pretty. Speaking of which why has nobody ever used texture replacer for the fairings? Would that work? -

oooh shameless plugging of your youtube channel, lemme have a look. I tried making my own textures for the fairings, but broke everything turning the texture completely white (which I was somehow happy with) got a link? (and didnt we have a chat about the same a few months ago? And yeess! that looks awesome! I'd run a separate safe with that mod -

Oh woow looks great! Is that a stack decoupler on the heat shield? (heat shield ejection pic)? No longer necessary, heat shields have them included in 1.1 (it's a bit hidden under the RMB in the VAB. -
I am happy bunny with the new KSP :')

The original is cramped as well. :-P Did you put seats or clipped in 3 mk 1 command pods? Still does my head in though - Funny Russians; 'Space is cold, let's make our mighty Soyuz wear a sock' I just had a look at mine (yay! for lunch breaks and running KSP inside a dropbox folder) - I closed that gap with the heat shield's cover - doesn't look great nor terrible, but WHY are some of these textures so horrible for making stock replicas? It drives me nuts sometimes Oh and thanks for the thermometer tip, I haven't been able to spend much time building things in the latest KSP, grmblifeandwork :-|, maybe this weekend. :-) BTW I would probably try to simplify your crafts here and there. I am on 651 parts for my ISS and it's still not great, even though everything runs a lot smoother in 1.11 -

Ooh wow looks better then mine!! Did you get the parachutes to work? it used to be such a hassle to get working parachutes inside the fairings in 1.05 And how did you make that last edge of the service module flair out? Grmbl now I want to start building again as well.. Stupid work :-( Btw I don't think the soyuz uses the truss segment anymore, I thought that was the old ones (see image) -
quick Mun landing last night with the Surveyor Skylab still works! WOOOOOP !!!! and seems to run a lot smoother than it did before. Still debating whether to install scatterer I am quite happy the way it looks now :$

Thanks! Will try

Seems to happen when scaling uiui 100% fixed it for me.. Squad?

I bought KSP! YAY! This 1.1 just feels like a completely new game, even the physics seem to be more direct. Can't wait to go home and try my old 1.05 safe :-)
