Post your 1.0 Career mode workhorses
WooDzor replied to skepticon's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
my Saturn IB and the might Saturn V. I pretty much launch everything with these rockets, I am currently working on something smaller for launching probes. Maybe an Atlas or an Arianne :-) -
First of all my apologies for the large amount of pictures, I was having too much of a good time to relearn KSP in 1.0. The atmosphere really got interesting, it turned into a real struggle to get through, especially with large crafts, but I love it. No more ISS in three launches :-P Launch of Sky Lab I Saturn IB Launch second try at Sky Lab Ib Second stage of Saturn IB Saturn IB Munar flyby, just a dV test to see how much 'puff' the rocket really has Apollo 11 launch, first try to the Mun in 1.0 Looks like the second stage.. but hard to tell Third stage still needs some work, since it looks a bit boring On our way to the Mun, no rovers or any hardware in the lower bit of the LEM.. because Apollo 11 Getting there And Valentina and Rumple Kerman are the first Kerbals to land on the Mun in v1.0. I had 8m/s^2 left when I docked with the service model.. quite happy we didn't bring the rover :-D

Fairings and why would they need to be closed?
WooDzor replied to WooDzor's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
@worir4 I noticed that and it works nicely on the top part of a Saturn, it becomes impossible when lets say you have clipped 4 of the largest tanks for the lower stage of the Saturn V, have your fairing and then have the second stage on top. I failed to close it properly. If it was possible to just pull the fairing all the way up to the bottom edge of the next stage and stop it there I would be very happy -
I am not sure if I am missing something, and to be honest I like the idea of fairings but I do have some trouble with them. Why are do you have to close them in the end, it would be great if they could be used for engine fairings. If you close them you end up with fairing bits inside your rocket, which generally results in a RUD (rapid unplanned disassemble) The textures don't quite do it for me: I haven't found a single part that they nicely match with, the yellow band jumps out to much for my liking, and why I like clean looking parts, they don't quite fit in the current texture scheme Anybody else any thoughts on this?
-
copying in all the files gave me a couple of warnings about some mods being out of date (planetshine and real solar system), so decided to go with the minimum that worked. Also I didn't want to wait an hour for Active Texture Management to go through all the textures for the parts. I might pick a selection though

If you want clouds that work (for now) just copy in BoulderCO and the EVE folder. Works in the loading menu. Testing it in game later In the gamedata folder ofcourse.. the solar flare shared asset 9 file messed up my loading bar at the left bottom, I ended up with a pink rectangle there..

*British sense of humor (though I happen to be Dutch and living in East-Africa, feel free to make jokes about our 'heroic actions' in the first world war) Anyway, my apologies I haven't been in Europe for a while and I forgot about the French not having a sense of humor. ;-) Please keep in mind that while factually correct and even somewhat on the low side, the majority of families in Europe lost someone (or in the worst case were completely wiped out) during both WWI and/or WW2. Call me heartless, but in my opinion no reason to get upset when somebody makes a friendly joke. (please notice the smiley just after the link) I think Europe has far more pressing issues than the dog of the uncle of my aunt's grandfather who lost his life in the trenches. I shall put a note under the post for hypersensitive and easily offended people, how about that?
-
The French have (allegedly) a bit of a history of giving up quickly when the the Germans show up at their borders, therefor white flag + white flag on the moon = Tadaaa! A friendly space joke to welcome our new French friend :-)
-
So I heard you French claimed the Moon ;-) Welcome Some sense of humor required: Post not meant for persons with family trees with a good memory.

And on a Space Game related forum I still had to think for a minute.. *bangs head on desk*

How about changing your flag? How's that for a suggestion? Look if you are trying to be offensive, fine, only problem is you completely embarrass yourself here, that stuff wasn't even funny when I was 9.

I would like to watch Squadcast, but Twitch is intolerable

Not everybody lives in the first world Michael.. :-/ I don't understand why they can't throw it on youtube. I manage to stream youtube here in Uganda but anything else is just hopeless -
And we're on 20

With spending a bit of time you can get quite nice crafts with stock..
-
I really need to spend more time playing with 0.90.. getting things to clip properly used to be hell, nowadays one seems to slap things together and move them around afterwards.. #amgettingold

Mercury Program-America can into space
WooDzor replied to Yukon0009's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Nice editing and commenting at the same time.. CONFUSION!!! (and then the internet died) I know, the problem is the moment you make the Titan II bigger the Capsule has to increase too.. and then I would have to start clipping like a maniac. Right now the capsule is a simple and pretty (even though I say so myself) approximation of the Gemini.. it doesn't just quite fit in the family size wise. Though IRL the Gemini Capsule wasn't that much bigger than the Mercury one. (with the MOL attached) -

Hoopla those are the rockets I like! Shouldn't the fins on the Redstone be pushed in a bit further? ^how attached are you to your processor? Try this :'D -
Launched an interplanetary mission to Eve, which additionally made me finish the 'build a space station in Kerbin orbit.. Like a boss :'D I did have a weird glitch at Eve: I wanted to land an RCS probe. But the moment I undocked it, I lost control. it's a few RCS ports, some science, the mini control computer, some legs and a parachute. I could move the legs do science tests, but no way I could control the probe with RCS. (Yes I had power and RCS fuel). I brought another one, let's see whether I can make that one work tonight.. But if anyone knows what could be causing the trouble..
-
Just focus back to ship before changing SOI, I only have this problem when I don't..
-
that frontview of the lander is just stunning, now I feel like updating mine too.. BTW where did you fit the second Kerbal? And how much time did you spend on that hatch not being blocked by surrounding parts? Oh and that thing sticking out in the back is obviously the rover..close-up? did you manage to fit it in the quarter cube just like the original? W
