  1. Think thats just because hte auto-update thingamajiggy needs to be updated, it doesn't know that 1.1.3 exists yet. Shouldn't be an issue, I had it in 1.1.2 w/no sign of any errors.
  2. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmm......................from the website: " Terrorists, Holocaust or Holodomor deniers and people having seen and flown in Flying Saucers and UFOs of all kind are also welcome to participate in order to confirm their actions/ideas/services! " Oh and also this little titbit: "Any legal disputes will be handled in France. I cannot visit USA today as I am punished by death there (in absentia) having revealed military secrets of no value. It is not funny being punished by death. " For about 50 reasons, I strongly suggest we all forget that the website exists. Like that bit at the end of "sphere".
  3. I know I'd like to see this list, so I'll start one. Post if you find another, I'll endeavor to update the OP occasionally. 4. **EDIT** Well you don't hardly ever get to do this!: FIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXED As of version 1.2 pre-release: Officially reported as "Closed" on the bug tracker, multiple reports that the orbital stability issue no longer exists! FIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXEDFIXED Congrats to all at Squad, esp. @NathanKell who appears to have taken the lead on the issue. Thanks to all that took time to report anything to this thread. **EDIT** IF YOU ARE STILL EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE, IN WHATEVER BUILD OF KSP IS CURRENT AT THE TIME, LOG IT ON THE BUG TRACKER http://bugs.kerbalspaceprogram.com/projects/ksp Page for [v.1.2 pre-release] issues: http://bugs.kerbalspaceprogram.com/projects/prerelease/issues **EDIT** Hi all, first the usual congrats to squad for providing us with another update, thanks guys! A few quick questions jump to mind though: re: Greatly reduce Apoapsis/Periapsis changing with no input, with thanks to ferram4 and eggrobin. option is toggleable in Settings->Gameplay and tunable in Physics.cfg. What does "greatly reduce" mean? Toggleable? Why would one want to switch this off? Being tunable in the cfg implies it isn't necessarily already optimal, how does one manipulate the cfg to make it optimal? Is it tweakable so that people can simulate decaying orbits if they so wish?
  5. I'm a fan of the hypersonic regime, the stuff that happens to the air you move through is cool. And the physics makes for cool looking craft, I mean, nuclear RVs just look menacing, dont you think?
  6. We're on the verge of being able to attain fully orbital air breathing SSTOs (the debate as to whether or not they will be economical is the big one) so suborbital straight from a runway is very much within reach. Fun Fact: The SR-71 had to "steer downwards" in order to follow the curvature of the Earth, the lift necessary for it to fly was measurably decreased due to its speed (~10-12% orbital velocity)
  7. In my experience, hypotheses which cancel out whole fields of physics in a single paragraph probably need a re-think.
  8. The mod I mentioned in the OP, I think it is "smart parts", that included a part that can activate an action group on a timer - I once used these to trigger parachutes on decoupled stages successfully. Not sure if it was a feature provided by the part though so I cant speak to stock functionality, but it appears plausible at least. Either way I made the suggestion assuming that it would be active-vessel-only.
  9. Urgh, no way. I would consent to selling a fragrance in the Mars gift shop called "Elon's Musk" though. On a similar vein, there could be a mountain/hill called "Tim's Peake". The first city will be called London, naturally, followed by a renaming of Mars to England.
  10. I would like the ability to add delays to action groups. There is a mod that enables this, but it is a bit of a cludge: add a part, create group to activate that part, part has a timer, when timer runs down, part triggers another action group. I would like to be able, for example, to crate an action group like this: Stage fairing 2 second delay Activate solar panels Or: Jettison LES 2 second delay Deploy drougue Or: Stage lateral decoupler pair 1 1 second delay Stage lateral decoupler pair 2 1 second delay Stage lateral decoupler pair 3 etc. etc. Seems like a small thing that could add a lot of functionality
  11. I don't think thats where the bottleneck is...
  12. Weirdly this is not even the first time I have heard of ancient butter being found and tasted...
  13. I'm not, its just my "gut" feeling, the same as I have "gut" feelings about how pool balls will bounce of each other. Fully aware that this sort of intuition is entirely insubmissable in quantum court, I've seen just about enough of quantum physics to know that you can basically forget any predisposed assumptions based on what "seems right". Of course there are always questions, thats not exactly profound.
  14. Eeeeeeehhhhh....I dunno, that hurts to read. I've heard the same sort of thing from people obsessed with BS pseudoscience. But yeah, the quantum realm, and its relationship to SR and classical physics (who came up with the term "classical", its just so perfect!) are where physics starts to collide with philosophy, which always has interesting results. For example, determinism - is the universe deterministic or not? An important question in physics. But one that has enormous moral implications. For the record, IMHO: The universe is wholly and fully deterministic. FTL comms is impossible. [Backwards] Time travel is impossible. Time travel to the future is already possible. Causality cannot be violated in any physical system.
  15. It all depends on which theories pan out, some rule out FTL comms, some apparently don't, we just don't know what the truth of the matter is yet. I have a "gut feeling" which is pretty strong, but when it comes to quantum stuff, common sense, intuition and stuff that just "seems right" can go right out the window.
  16. If you think about it classically, then instantaneous communication doesn't seem to be much of a problem. But some theories of "quantum stuff" indicate that using entanglement in this way would imply that your message would travel backwards through time, with obvious implications for causality. I *think* that this would mean that FTL comms would be impossible, and not that violating causality is possible. It is very hard to imagine a universe where violation of causality is allowed.
  17. What a freak accident! Very sad, could happen to anyone.
  18. There is one all-important question everybody seems to have overlooked: What noise does it make when it is scanning?
  19. Its not a just a view, its medical best-practice. But since nobody goes to the doctor for minor cuts and scrapes, and no marketing department wants to put the word "moist wound" on their packaging, the general public just dont know about it. Plus, when attempts are made to inform, people generally don't believe it. At J&J this was a major headache, because we couldn't get across the major selling point of our product, people would just refuse to take it in! Even when presented with hard clinical data! Or they would tick "Yes" on the questionairre, then go straight home and remove their dressings!
  20. If its hot, high and hilly, it will be tough enough for anyone. Enjoy!
  21. Im well Jell, I'd love to do be doing that in 4 days... Get some *hydrocolloid* blister plasters. "Compeeds" if at all possible, though Im not sure if they are sold in the states..."Bandaid" might have an equivalent, its the same company, Johnson & Johnson. I worked in R&D there for a while, I've seen the clinical studies, I know how they work, and they do. Not only are they just the _best_ for blisters (as in, bad blister before, walking like normal with minimal discomfort after, I cannot stress this enough. Based on experience, not because I worked there) but they are also the best general wound dressing available - they generally are not marketed for casual wound dressings as they are quite expensive for a plaster, but they are used by medical professionals and serious wound treatment routinely. Again, I cannot stress how good Compeeds are at treating blisters, especially when you are still mid-expedition and still need to walk. They sometimes don't stick as well though (if you can figure that problem out, give J&J a call, they have some $money$ for you), so some of that surgical tape is useful to have around as well. General wound wisdom - it goes against the grain of so-called "common sense", but wounds (including blisters) should not be "aired" or allowed to "breath". Stick a dressing on, change it when it falls off and keep replacing it until healed. It will heal faster, scar less, have less chance of infection and will be less painful. If you had more than 4 days, I would suggest slowly training yourself to need less to drink every day. NOT to intentionally dehydrate yourself, but most people in their day-to-day lives drink far more fluids than they need, and the kidney get very good at getting rid of the excess water, they will continue to do this even as you dehydrate. But if you slowly reduce your water intake over time, your kidneys learn to conserve your water. This is a real technique recommended for folks visiting desert areas and the like. Also, 55miles in 12 days? I walk half that rate just getting to/from work every day (admittedly on the flat). You'll be fine, come back when its 55miles in 72 hours
  22. Grid fins are not airbrakes. They can be modelled as a simple fin. They are not especially draggy, they are used on missiles. There are many, many parts in stock KSP that aren't *totally* necessary. If that is your criteria, then all you need are about 16 parts and delete the rest. There should be a rule in the suggestion forum that if you do not support the idea, you do not comment. Unpopular ideas would quickly get pushed down the page and it keeps the thread a bit more useful. On a personal note: I want loads of parts I hardly ever use, just for that one time when I need that niche part and there it is right there. How many times have I used ion/electric propulsion? About twice. How many different electric engines do I have in my build? About...i dunno, 15? Just the way I like it
  23. Tip-top-tip: When uninstalling a mod via CKAN, manually go into gamedata and remove the folder. CKAN sometimes leaves dome files behind which can cause headaches. Other than that, use CKAN, the effort it saves you by keeping things in a nice list is more than enough to risk the extra headaches, most of the best mods function perfectly well, the above problem is the worst I have experienced.
  24. I cannot recommend the logitech stick, purely because the name is just too ridiculous. I'd have loved to be in that marketing meeting... But in all seriousness, CH products are fairly well-respected in the hardcore simulator world, the flightstick pro has been a consistent recommendation for decades. You won't go too far wrong with thrustmaster either.
  25. @the_Demongod Oh yeah, it only loaded the first couple pages...shucks, thats a shame, it was a legit release as well. Err...also, having just found it on amazon... o_0 ...kinda really makes me wanna dig out that pdf...I hope I still have it... https://www.amazon.com/Ignition-informal-history-liquid-propellants/dp/0813507251/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466115152&sr=8-1&keywords=ignition+john+clark
