You don't like biomes? Seems a perfectly fitting word. Maybe not for the different altitude regions but for the regions of ground... biome seems to fits just fine to me.

I don't really mind delays... they happen. I'd just like to be told that there is one... and possibly an estimate for how long it is. When there is no announcement... then... there is this tension of waiting and not knowing if it'll come out at any moment... like now. or now. ... or now. Nothing? How about now? (above is intended to be somewhat humorous and not at all demanding)

I'm not sure about the Gemini and Apollo era rockets. I don't think it'd matter too much in terms of +or- g on the crew in a capsule since they're directly over the thrust vector. I do Know that the Shuttle rotated to be heads down or inside the loop as you put it almost immediately after launch.

so um yeah... they're late by my clock...

Yes SAS with cause that. Also it only happens when you are focused on the vessel. If you had watched from the tracking station... or time warped from another ship the orbit of the ship around the Mun would never change. Because when the ship is not the focus then no physics is being done on it. The game keeps it on it's path forever ... (excepting paths which hit a planet) You don't have to worry about debris while a ship is "on rails" like this either. The ship has no physical form and will pass right through any other ship or piece of ship. So long as neither is the focus that is.

It depends on your orbits inclination. There are some tall peaks near the Muns poles ... I find that 10Km is safe for all inclinations and 7Km is safe for an equatorial orbit.
-
It is certainly past the time it normally comes out... But as they haven't said there wont be one... I guess that means my F5 key will continue getting a workout.

precision landing. I can land pretty good... but not generally too close to where I intended. I can get within 3Km usually on an airless body like the Mun. But I want to get withing 200m and I want to be able to do that on planets with atmosphere too. I haven't messed with planes much at all due to... my early efforts being completely uncontrollable and more recently... it taking too long to get anywhere and do anything. It wouldn't be as bad if I didn't have to baby sit the thing for the 2-3 hours it takes to fly anywhere interesting... and or if I could save mid light... but... I build big things... but I don't have the patience for epically big things. Getting full orange tanks up has been somewhat difficult for me in the past. Weirdly I could get them up there as part of something else just fine but when I was trying to get them up to use to refuel things everything fell apart. I think I've got the hang of it now though. Docking is always somewhat nerve-racking. I haven't had any explosions or unfortunate solar panel meetings in like 20 dockings but it's just not something I can get complacent about. Oh! Aerobraking. My attempts never go as planed. I'm either too high and need to fire the engine... or too low... My Jool aerobraking attempts have all ended poorly...

Here's some of my attempts at buildings. You could try something similar. I rolled them into place then decoupled the wheels and removed the resulting debris. You'd have to fly yours up there...

before we had rover wheels or rover parts really at all... we had plane landing gear, structural parts, probes, and Ion engines. Actually this thing handled better than current rovers... It was slow to turn... as the only way was with RCS thrusters... but it could get up to really high speeds without suddenly tumbling end over end. Have to put sas on rovers now to avoid that. And when it was turning it didn't go fishtailing all over the place... I still say rover wheels don't have enough traction... Oh... and the embarrassing delivery system...

Return missions. I never did them in sand box. My mission was always to go and make a base... Now in career mode there is actually reason to return.

That was really weird. Only while close to the Sun ... limited to 1x time warp... my orbit was being modified with out any indication of a cause. Once I got far enough away to time warp the changes stopped... but only after I actually time warped. The star (or stars) at the center of any solar System is(or are) that Solar Systems Sun(s). Our Sun is named Sol. The Sun of the Kerbal System has been named Kerbol.

do really close orbits of Kerbol decay? I aimed for 10km. Got 8Km. When I got close it was 7Km. when I was on Peri... it was 5.9Km ... now I'm on my way back to Apo and my predicted Peri is still falling... I'm going to have to make a burn to get back up to 10Km at Apo... No throttle... Did they add a thin atmosphere without letting it indicate on the gauge? Is this just rounding errors? What's going on? My apo appears to be rising too. Did they add solar wind? Could my gigantor solar panels be acting like solar sails? (I don't think they did... but I'm running out of ideas here) ... turned off SAS in case that was causing it. It's not. where is this phantom force coming from?

Munimun Safe Distance for Kerbol Orbit?
FITorion replied to FITorion's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
thanks. Trying for a 10Km orbit. -
I'm trying to figure out minimum safe orbit distance. Saw a video where they exploded at 1300m. In my game questions thread people are saying around 2000m is explosion territory. I'm currently trying for a 10Km orbit. Seems there is only 2 Sun biomes though. High and Near. There does not appear to be a low orbit biome... Oh well.
-
My latest attempt is a little over 3,000,000m from it at closest approach with its high point being within the orbit of Moho. I was just 55m/s away from getting it under 50Km... I'm going to have to try again.
-
They've also said that they won't be adding any until they get the system to discover them in place. Something about building a telescope... or some such thing in order to learn of the new planets existence and have it appear in the map view.

In one of the KSPtv streams... about a month ago or so... one of the devs was talking about a planet which he called a gas giant that he was working on but didn't know when or if it would be included. It wasn't a gas giant though... because it had a rocky surface you could land on... it just had a very very thick atmosphere. I'm not opposed to having such a planet... only opposed to calling it a gas giant.

I haven't watched youtube that much. I'm just starting on getting into it... So I've got like 5 people in my subscription list. I can tell you that I'm not really interested in simple "lets plays" I'd rather be playing the game than watching someone else play. But if you give your channel a theme like telling a story with KSP... or doing tutorials... or making funny videos of bugs or just crazy off the wall things then It's more likely to attract me to your channel. I suspect this is true for a lot of people. So as little as my advice is worth... there it is. I fully support youtubers posting their links here. Please also give a little description of what your theme is.

It'd be nice if there were some flat places ... here and there... They might have gone a little overboard with the craters... I like variety in landscapes though. I think I'd like it better if the distribution of craters wasn't so evenly distributed. There should be places of heavy cratering an places that are somewhat flat... Like the large dark mark areas should have fewer and much shallower craters... then their should also be places where the cratering is so intense the terrain is chaotic. I too would like Minmuses high lands to have a crater or two... I'd love the different landscapes right next to each other. Also it certainly is easier to land on Minmus than the Mun. Even back when the Mun was mostly flat.

How do I center the camera in the VAB?
FITorion replied to Waymer's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
As far as I'm aware the VAB camera is always centered on the center of the VAB regardless of what craft you have... -
Real world data space data transmission record set.

That's 77.75 MB per second to use units we're all more familiar with. -
[science] decouple mistery goo
FITorion replied to lesto's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Sorry... but it sounds like your problem is your design... I've had many splash downs and ground landings. I've never had the science parts break off or be destroyed.
