  1. I designed a rocket once, very simple, 4 stages, one engine, somewhere around 23 parts. Didn't expect much of it, might get a decent suborbital hop with it... The Wonderful thing reached orbit, encountered the Mun, then Minmus, then proceeded to leave Kerbin's SOI... which at the time, the farthest I had gotten was the Mun, so I was pretty proud of myself. (also realized later on, if I removed the boosters it could become a SSTO) I'm still using that design today, it can't carry to much. But I use it to launch tiny probes to Minmus, the mun, and I'm modifying it for my first manned mission to Duna.
  2. I'm a big fan of the Yogscast, and watch most of their videos and series. Well one of their members, Duncan, did a 15 play-through video series on KSP, and by the time the 3rd episode was released I had downloaded the demo. By the time the 5th episode was released, I had bought the full version
  3. The Mk-1 Lander Can, Use it for most of my landers, use it in a few advanced vehicles and rovers, used it in my very first space station ( it was literally just the pod, a docking port, and 2 large solar arrays, in a very lopsided orbit. Never docked or added to it, as this was really early in my Kerbal Experience) I also enjoy how its a lot easier to place things on the side of it, and it still looks good. Sure you can put landing legs on a MK 1 command pod, but they are either slanted at an odd angle, or straight up and sort of floating off the pod.
  4. My personal transport systems usually stick to wheels small little scooters, tiny rovers, and this awesome tricycle thing. I fiddled around with the RCS stuff, but... ended in a big ball of fire and dead kerbals...
  5. In my roleplay: Yes, it does release Radioactive exhaust, however, judging by the safety protocols in place by the KSP (absolutely none what so ever) nobody gives a care in the world if it pollutes anything
  6. I also thought space travel was just "point towards moon, and go!" the whole changing orbits thing never occured to me
  7. Oh I have an awesome idea for this one... Time to get to work!
  8. I've been playing for awhile, so im not exactly a "new to the game noob". However, I still have yet to land a Kerbal on any other planets (only the Mun, and Minmus so far) so I consider my self "a skill/accomplishment noob :P"
  9. Tired to get into orbit using space cannons... had this really great idea modeled after the V3 Super Gun, but didn't work out... Resorting to Part Clipping for this one Might be able to at least get into orbit from Minmus's surface... or maybe i should try Gilly first...
  10. Landing on the Mun for the first time. After struggling to get into orbit around Kerbin for a week.. this was a huge achievement. Of course the ship tipped over after landing... the kerbal couldnt get out... and I couldnt get back home. But dang was I happy!
  11. In career (the mode i actually "play" in, Sandbox is for building cool ships and vehicles that I dont really intend to fly ) I go Mun > Minmus > Duna. To be honest... I never actually landed a kerbal on another planet... I've landed unmanned probes on both Eve and Duna, but didnt return them. So my progress is at a stall until I get a manned Duna mission there and back But I like it like this, gives me a clear goal to aim for constantly.
  12. I don't use it on my rockets or planes, unless its just for looks. I won't clip 4 engines on top of each other, but I will clip fuel tanks halfway through another to give it a Soyuz Rocket look. And Ill clip wings into planes slightly to make them look sleeker. On rovers though, I also only clip for asthetics, but I do it a lot more, my rovers HAVE to look cool
  13. It's pretty much the testing marker for planes If it can make it to the runway a Kilometer off the coast, Im sure it will make it to Eve! No Problem!
  14. That is pretty much the idea Except mine is much more... useless. I'm pretty sure it can't reach orbit from the Mun, and it definately can't be controlled after the boosters are fired The idea was pretty much "Monster! Shoot up really fast, worry about monster when you land :P" It also can't really land safely either... it has a parachute on it, because when I first made it the whole "No Air on the Moon" thing didn't occur to me It's pretty much a fighter jet ejection seat... Though now I think I;ll update the design to be actually useful!
  15. The way I see it you gain no advantage if you use them or not. We can all choose to either use the new OP engines, or refuse to use them because they ruin the fun. Just like some of us use Mods and some Don't, we've always had the ability to add slightly OP engines through mods, some of us did it because it would be fun, some of us didn't because it would ruin our fun. I personally play Career Mode a lot and will use them, after I unlock them, so I will still be using the other older engines. Thats the joy of KSP, you don't compete with anyone so you can make your own rules, "No Killing Kerbals", "No Probes", "No Quicksaves", "No Debris in orbit", "No Kerbal Left Behind", and so on. We all have our own set of rules that we play by, so we can enjoy the game in a way we think is best.
  16. Whenever I have a land mission to a planet or Moon, I bring what I call a "G.H.O.O.D Pack" (Silent H, "Good Pack" ) which stands for "Get the Hell Out Of Dodge Pack" When I first heard of The Kraken, I thought it was an actual in game monster... and I do not like being stuck on barren planets with a giant monster... So I pretty much developed a command chair with some boosters on it, to just hop in and GET THE HECK OUT OF THERE! In case the Kraken ever comes I still bring it just because im still scarred of what may be in the dark depths of space...
  17. The NASA logo on the new parts feels a bit... judgemental... I mean NASA is great and all, wonderful bunch of guys. But when I'm strapping one of these new boosters to a rocket powered Moon Buggy Racecar thing with a newly added claw grabber, and blowing things up carelessly and carefree... I can't help but notice that logo... and somehow deep inside I feel like I'm letting NASA down... I should be doing space science! Redirecting Asteroids! Saving the world! But no... I'm attaching a command seat to a booster and seeing how far Jebediah will fly... Im sorry I have failed you! I don't need this kind of pressure!
  18. So... We get asteroids, giant engines, huge fuel tanks, a super duper clawy grabber thingy, the ability to say "Yes, I've been using a computer program that was developed with the help of NASA" to sound all smarty, AND I CAN LOOK STRAIGHT AHEAD ON MY ROCKETS LAUNCHES AGAIN!!!??? I have buyers remorse... remorse that I stole this wonderful game for only 23 dollars...
  19. I guess my specialty would be in the realm of Rovers, however my vehicles are more like APC's or troop transports Carry lots of Kerbals, and withstand an entire rocket crashing into it in a failed landing attempt... I usually fail in landings with them... so they usually have to survive being dropped from Hundreds of meters above the surface of a planet so far only one vehicles has survived every mission... the K.U.V (Kerbal Utility vehicle) carrys 4 kerbals, still operational when dropped 300m above the surface of the Mun (you just don't have any lights)
  20. I've docked.... once... I guess that counts as being able to dock
  21. There is only one rule. Make sure the rockets do not look like genitalia... Became a rule after this unfortunate incident... I swear it was an accident! I didn't notice until it was silhouetted against the sun!
  22. $22, saw some videos, played the demo, bought it instantly At first i was a bit upset i bought it after April or whatever so I wouldn't get extensions or whatever for free... But after playing it, and seeing the work Squad does, I'm more then happy to buy any additional DLC or expansions
