does anybody use stage speration rockets?
Rainbow-Dashie replied to chaoko99's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I use them for suicide burns on landers, I hate landings.. it takes so long, so I just wait until im close to the ground, fire some boosters, once my velocity gets low enough, i decouple the boosters so i dont fly off. -
What is the most underrated planet/moon/star?
Rainbow-Dashie replied to Astronaut's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Dres, I always forget that planet actually exists... -
I need help with something in this mod (at least i assume it's in this mod) I keep seeing all these B9 ships with the space shuttle like cargo bay, yet when i go to build one I can not find the cargo bay part anywhere. I'm pretty sure the mod is installed properly, i don't get any errors or crashes, and the rest of the B9 parts are all there. So is the space shuttle cargo bay actually in B9? If so is it in a version I don't have (i downloaded the one on the front page)? Is the shuttle bay actually in another mod? (if so which one) Or is the shuttle bay actually made up of many B9 parts, and isnt a single part? (if so, how do i build the shuttle cargo bay)? I want a space shuttle!

You Will Not Go To Space Today - Post your fails here!
Rainbow-Dashie replied to Mastodon's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I launched the second part of my Duna mission ship, and the launch was so perfect, and the rocket so efficient, i didn't have to use the 2nd set of boosters! Set up a rendevous, got to within 200m of the rest of the ship, forgot that my second set of boosters were still attached to my ship... hit space to decouple the payload from the rest of the ship and the boosters fired up... you can see where this is going -
The amazing atlas mini AND super small to duna !
Rainbow-Dashie replied to Eldar158's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
*Looks at this tiny, efficient little Duna capable craft* *Looks at my massive, inefficient, unreliable, barely Duna capable abomination* What they hay am i doing wrong!? I am completely in awe of that ship... if you didn't have pics I wouldnt believe you when you said it could go to Duna -
Mission Control database: Share your future planned missions!
Rainbow-Dashie replied to gustomundo's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I want to standardize my space program, make it some what reusable. Instead of a new rocket and capsule for every launch/missions I want to develop more of a multipurpose ship or two, and use those for pretty much everything. I want it to be a spaceplane type thing ( not an SSTO, i can not build one of those). So the mission is to develop a ship, a launcher for the ship, and get that ship to a 100km Orbit. -
On rockets, i have all the usual safety features, and ejection crap... On planes, they're lucky if they get a parachute! To much extra mass, to hard to fly!
-
Kenmore Kerman, the name is funny, and he is the only Kerbal I have had to de-orbit a space station single handed... ( EVA'ed, went at the station to fast, hit something, something exploded, and the station was put into an orbit just low enough to hit the atmoshpere...)

What Debris is around your Space Center?
Rainbow-Dashie replied to MinerEdgar's topic in KSP1 Discussion
That small island off the coast of KSC with the runway is filled with debris. Every plane i build goes on a test run there, every lander makes a test land there, every missile launch system fires at that island, parachute drops, rovers, vehicles, everything is tested on that dang island! That debris also creates more debris when i try to land a new plane and forget that the last 7 planes are still crashed on the runway... -
Don't kill anyone, and all stations/large ships/bases must have enough lifeboats for every kerbal on board, in case of space icebergs.
-
I'm at 140 hours and 135 of that was spent going to the Mun and back, as i was unable to do anything else Though the last 5 hours have moved quite fast, landed my first interplanetary probe on Eve, and my first rover on Duna. Gonna make a trip to Ike and Gilly, then aim for the Jool System ( i'll give you the update in another 300 hours of gameplay )
-
If crashes and debris caused crater impacts.... nobody would find a flat place to land ever again
-
My probes usually land on the surface of the planet or moon, and then stay there, acting as beacons for the first manned mission. On the way down the collect data on the atmosphere (only landed on Eve and Duna so far), then do all the surface tests. None of em ever come back.

Minimum number of flights to open tech tree 100%
Rainbow-Dashie replied to E. F. Kranz's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Adding more of the capsules will add electricity to the ship, and you can remove rockets and boosters by placing an engine or booster directly above them and just burning them away -
Minimum number of flights to open tech tree 100%
Rainbow-Dashie replied to E. F. Kranz's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I bet Scott Manley could do it in half a flight... I'm on flight 20 or something and i still have a bit to go... mostly due to the fact i have never landed on a planet before... but i did finally land a probe on Eve, and a rover is about to land on Duna so im making progress! -
The "You know you're playing a lot of KSP when..." thread
Rainbow-Dashie replied to Phenom Anon X's topic in KSP1 Discussion
When you can read a mission long on an Indian Space probe and understand all the sciency mumbo jumbo, since you picked it up in KSP tutorials and Scott manley videos -
this is the reason i never traveled to any biomes of Kerbin, it's to boring Sure some of the first sub-orbital flights happened to land in a new biome, but i never went for them on purpose. Same for planets, I'll land on the equator, and maybe on the poles, and thats it. I did flybys of the Mun and Minmus (before i got batteries i might add , got a nice slingshot off Minmus that put me right in Kerbin's atmosphere )
-
I never made mining bases in Kethane, i tried, but i could never land all the equipment for some reason... Instead i would build large interplanetary cruisers, loaded with tiny "miner drones" and kethane scanners, and when my ship was running low on fuel, i would fly out to a moon or planet, scan it, then launch 20-some drones down to the surface to mine the Kethane. Bring it back to the ship to be refined, and Ta-Da! Infinite fuel! (sort of)
-
I have an awesome S.U.V (Space Utility Vehicle ). Pretty much the jeep of my space program, have variants for transport, refueling, kethane mining, KAS towing, exploration, unmanned missions, mobile sattelite launcher, and a transport for 2 small rovers. There are also 2 new variants in development, one loaded with science equipment, transmitters, etc; and one capable of launching a small, 1 man rocket from the surface of a moon/low gravity planet. Could be used as a tug, escape vehicle, or possibly extending the range of a mission (criteria is to be able to return to Kerbin from the surface of Duna, the Mun, Gilly, or Minmus. )

16, My rockets tend to lean towards Soviet-Era Soyuz looking things. My plane (only ever managed to get one working) is a WW-I looking Biplane.

How long did you wait in your career for duna?
Rainbow-Dashie replied to mattig89ch's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I attempted my first Mun landing, and my poor Kerbal was stranded... Now i have to spend the next few weeks trying to get him back... -
Wait!? The thermometer and gravity thinga-mabobs give you science!? 0_0 My mind has just been opened to this greatness!
-
Minmus is made of ice cream! or has a core of ice cream, or is composed of in some shape or form, of ice cream. I will not be persuaded to change my opinion on this!
-
Well we really don't know how to it's going to be setup, it could add up the price of all your parts, and subtract that total when you launch. Or there could be a "store" where you buy parts, and those are added to your "inventory" which you then can build rockets from, say you buy 20 boosters, and use 4 on a rocket, you still got 16 packed away in storage. Or worse comes to worse, and you blow your entire budget on a glorified missile sitting in a munar crater, you might just be able to "revert flight" Dont know how its gonna be set up, so to soon for me to see any problems with it.

Sent a few ships in orbit, did 2 fly bys of the moon, and thats about it.
