  1. Quoted for truth...this statement has been made time and time again by users...NO reason Regex (or any other user for that matter...) should have to post this on SQUAD's "official" (or should it be semi-official) forums, it should be done by SQUAD (read Maxmaps here if he was the one w/permission to "spill the beans") themselves!
  2. I believe the people who took the images snuck onto the site. I can't guarantee that is correct, but judging by Google's translation of the page linked in the OP (where the images came from) they snuck on-site due to lax security and a failing old fence. Here is the translation from the page itself: "And of course, thanks to the security service for NGOs irresponsible approach to the protection of its plant, as well as the management of economic security for failing to contain the emotions of sadness about the property damage caused by the loss of a wonderful Perimeter previously represents a permanent structure." Granted, that is Google Chrome's translation...not sure how accurate.
  3. This right here. USI Life Support was basically written to be adapted to the stock game.
  4. This thread is making me glad I didn't install on my work laptop (likely will never now) and more sure than ever that I'm going to cancel the "upgrade" from 7 to 10 on my Desktop.
  5. I think that some reasons are related to the current climate in Mexico re: cartels. Kidnappings of wealthy people for ransom was a thing down there for a while...
  6. Nope, not fixed. Looks like you left the /download in your link and your Certificate for your https:// server may be outdated or incorrect (I got a cert. error when I dug through page source, found the link and ran it). Edit: And just after I typed this...working!
  7. It doesn't say anything about landing...so basically all you need to do is pull your PE below the Sun (so you're sub-orbital), the contract would complete that section, then you could pull the PE back up and all the kerbals survive.
  8. Nope, SQUAD implemented DDS in 1.0, so DDS loader is no longer necessary. The mod (as-is) was created for .90 (as the thread title states), so the mods in the pack may no longer work (they need to be updated) and some aren't necessary at all. Also, DO NOT INSTALL the .assets file found in KSP_data / KSP_dataX64, it won't work with 1.0+
  9. Awesome mod and almost a must-have in any install now. Nice pick for Modding Mondays SQUAD!
  10. Look at the history of the scumbag who posted the game: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=bl_sr_mobile-apps?_encoding=UTF8&field-brandtextbin=MartinJacob&node=2350149011 Looks like he's been busy ripping off copyrighted materials for a long time with no consequences...
  11. I'm assuming he's talking about the Asteroid Day telescope, from the "2nd Official SQUAD mod for KSP". Cursed: http://www.curse.com/ksp-mods/kerbal/232196-asteroid-day
  12. So when a company or government "CERTIFIES" something to a certain level and it doesn't function appropriately, fails at less than HALF the "CERTIFIED" load it was meant to carry...less than 1/4 the load as a matter of fact; who should be held responsible? Definition of certified (relevant definition BOLDED): cer·ti·fy ˈsərdəˌfī/ verb past tense: certified; past participle: certified 1. attest or confirm in a formal statement. "the profits for the year had been certified by the auditors" synonyms: verify, guarantee, attest, validate, confirm, substantiate, endorse, vouch for, testify to; More 2. officially recognize (someone or something) as possessing certain qualifications or meeting certain standards. "a certified scuba instructor" synonyms: accredit, recognize, license, authorize, approve, warrant "a certified hospital" 3. officially declare insane. Elon Musk is correct in stating that: 1. He would not out the company that made the struts (why ruin someone else's business; the aerospace industry probably already knows who these guys are) 2. SpaceX would not be using the company again for struts 3. SpaceX would no longer rely on certification by any of their vendors, but instead do their own in-house testing In these circumstances, some (albeit a small amount) of blame could be placed on SpaceX for not testing a CERTIFIED strut on their own; but what company expects something like this to happen when the part has been deemed safe to upwards of five times the load?
  13. Check your staging and make sure the chutes don't stage at the same time your decoupler does...put them on their own stage. Don't stage your chutes till you are going less than 250m/s otherwise they will be destroyed by heat and aero forces.
  14. Not...enough...rep...to...give! Awesome looking textures and enhancements there Proot. Thanks to you and all the mod makers who make this possible!
  15. I would suggest using x64 Linux. I dual-boot Linux Mint w/Cinnamon Desktop and Win7 x64 myself but have heard many people having positive results with Ubuntu and many other distro's of Linux. Mint is pretty easy to set up and learn, I never used Linux until recently as well and had no issues installing or setting up my own personalized install. All mods should be available for Linux, as they are platform-agnostic (work on Win, Linux and OS-X) as far as I'm aware. Also, CKAN works on Linux as well (link in my Sig), so you have a mod manager available if you'd like it.
  16. Basically steve_v is saying that until SQUAD comes out with a 64 bit version of KSP, these memory crashes will continue with a heavily modded install. That advice could only be directed toward SQUAD and the developers of KSP, so wasn't really for anyone specific in the thread...more a statement of what it will take to ever be able to use tons of mods in KSP without crashing (on Windows that is....Linux 64bit works perfectly fine and I've had up to 13Gb of RAM usage in Linux). In your case, that wouldn't even matter because you're using a 32 bit system and not 64 bit. You are permanently locked to a cap of 4Gb (3.5Gb in practice for Windows) until you upgrade your system to 64 bit.
  17. Wouldn't even NEED anything that powerful. I had a GTX550Ti and KSP ran on full graphics settings without any lag or stuttering due to graphics. I have since upgraded to a GTX770 and notice very little improvement graphically.
  18. I think they are identifying numbers for the dish itself. If you click on one of them, then look at the data about the connection/dish...the "Name" of the dish is always "DSS ##" (so for example, the DSS 54 in Madrid is currently targeting New Horizons).
  19. I believe you are wrong. The guy who posted that image on Reddit said he used some SweetFX, PlanetShine, EVE, Scatterer and DOE to get that look. In response to OP; you may want to wait till the game has completely been moved to Unity5 before making your decision. KSP is NOT (bolded for emphasis) an graphically intense game. It is VERY processor-intense and can currently only process physics on a single-core as well. Unity5 update may change this and multi-core processors may be a bit better.
  20. Congrats on your promotion @ SQUAD and condolences to you and yours for the loss of your grandpa. I've lost both of mine as well and while the void will always be there, so will the life lessons he taught you and those lessons will live on in your own child/children some day. @Rest of the Team: Thanks for the hard work and the push toward U5. Hopefully it will all come together in the end with a stable x64 build for Win.
  21. I believe my first rep was received while stating my opinion of the AWFUL decision SQUAD made to use Cursed as their new mod repository and drop the Spaceport2 they'd been working on for quite some time.
  22. The better solution would be to get Unity Asset Explorer and just remove the sunflare.tex and 01_sun.tex. By removing the whole file, you're also losing Eve.mat, Jool.mat, Kerbin.mat, LoadingBackground.mat, 04_jool.tex, 02_eve.tex, LoadingBackground.tex, 03_Kerbin.tex, and about 10 other assets that the game uses. So I'd imagine there are several spots in your game (though you may not have noticed them yet) that are missing backgrounds and textures. There's also some AUDIO in that .assets file that you are losing.
  23. There must be another mod out there doing the same thing, as I do not have any USI mods installed but still experience this issue.
  24. I use KER but fully support anyone who chooses to use MechJeb. To each their own, que sera sera and all that jazz. Voted for MechJeb however.
