  1. Aaand we have Liftoff! The U.S.Js first satellite is in orbit! Prelaunch: Launch: Booster Separation: First Stage Separation: Payload in orbit: The satellite is currently in an 18.5 degree orbit, orbiting between altitudes of 69.5Km and 71Km (thanks to OP decouplers)
  2. T-5 Minutes for my first space mission. A "Weather" Scanning satellite to be launched from the command centre of the U.S.J. In the picture you can see the rocket on it's Launchpad, my manufactorium, and the command centre. The Launchpad is on a slight slope, but nothing that can't be accounted for.
  3. Can I place a launch site at my base hex? And launch everything from there? Whenever I want? Or does it have to coincide with a challenge or mission? EDIT: In this thread my company /country /thing will be: the United States of Japan. (Yet another code geass reference)
  4. Huh. So I'm not the only one getting that weird FX glitch with the big SRBs. I wonder what causes it? EDIT: Pretty much. Just take a hex really.
  5. At first I saw that and thought that was actually your computer and I just sat there, staring at the image for a couple of seconds like: @_@. And then came the ROFLMFAO.
  6. So I can add as many structures in the same hex as I want? Because if I can I have a Manufacturing plant set up, and I currently have it next to my original command centre.
  7. lol, maybe. I might chuck in some red here and there or something. Also I find this confusing: You say that structures must reach their position legitimately, but what about when we design and build for the challenges? I see nothing saying that those or my vehicles must reach the home location legitimately? And can we have more than one structure in a single hex?
  8. My command centre has been placed: Its location: (The fully black hex on the map) Man was it hard to get there. 56 tonnes, and 67 parts all on it's own. The rocket to get it there ended up being over 200 parts in itself (Including the skycrane), half of which were struts. Difficulty being it has an offset centre of mass, it is 56 TONNES, and it broke apart on landing half the time. I think I ended up launching it about five times... Anyway, I launched it and only barely landed it where I wanted, only a last minute full on burn with the skycrane managed to get me away from this turning into a sea base. Of course, I can't have an ugly, gigantic skycrane on top of the lights in the centre of my base, so I proceeded to decouple it and crash it into the nearby ocean faster than terminal velocity (Had some extra fuel left so I thought, WTH, I'm not going to use it later.) Anyway, now to work on that gantry. EDIT: Do I have to supply the .CRAFT file for the base?
  9. Is it to late to join? If it isn't, I would like to take the Peninsula Chain. EDIT: Oops, I didn't realise Daemon had the Chain. Can I still be in the same region as someone else or would I have to join up with someone?
  10. Kerbal Z.Z : http://www./download/djaeddla6drtlvh/Kerbal_Z_Z.craft The Kerbal Z.Z (Said Z 2) is designed with noob friendliness in mind, the engines will never overheat and it shows how certain techniques can be used to create crafts. (I have no idea if that was the right word to use there) The fairing made of panels around the LV-909 on the lander / capsule provides space for the landing legs, monopropellant and ather stuff you might want to put on. The side boosters show how liquid fuelled boosters that crossfeed into the core can be more effective and more efficient than SRBs, without destroying the laws of physics outright with an asparagus monstrosity. Struts are placed in key places that minimize wobble, and the landing legs are placed sideways to provide a wider and more stable stance on the ground, and be more discreet while flying, while still providing enough ground clearance to land safely. Oh, and it's heavily based on the Ares V and Delta rockets as well.
  11. 1) Joykler, click on delete post, It should be right at the bottom where the reply buttons would normally go 2) Just another of my 2c. I personally feel that the career mode should be built around the "tree" system. So we have the tech tree. Done. But what about money? And missions? Well then, we have an OPTIONAL mission system, where you can take on contracts from the government and other organizations to build up your money, then you get to use that money to fund your next missions and personal projects. So it will pretty much be real life. NASA / SpaceX / Copenhagen Sub-orbitals / who-ever, gets a contract, sends up the payload, gets money and uses that to fund development and their own personal projects. The only difference is that kerbals are a little more loose with their cash, and are willing to pay more than their real life counterparts for the same thing. Then you get more money, and you can do what you want for a while, until you need more money. Of course if you hate this idea, and don't like a story/ reality based space program, and you want to go and colonize / mine moho, and not go to jool, I have one word for you: SANDBOX. EDIT: Forgot to mention, the missions would be based around your technological advancement, and what you have already achieved. So no missions would pop up like: "Oh, you just made orbit? Here's a Butload of cash, now make me a Manned Dres Lander." EDIT EDIT: Also: yeah, no life support for me please.
  12. Me and a friend are writing a Hard(ish) Sci-Fi book that will involve a lot of this kind of thing, and seeing this thread is like torture, because all of my ideas for fighting end up being like this, where you need high thrust and high ISP to do anything of the sort. However, if the Gyroscopes were powerful enough, and you had a REEEAAAAAALLLLY high ISP engine, then it wold easily be possible. Thankfully, in the novel humanity (after its original collapse in an all out nuclear war) have been given technology by a benevolent race of aliens, including Hydrogen Fusion thrusters (ISP typically around 60000s, Engines vary in size and the largest can produce up to a TN of thrust {TeraNewton}) aswell as a possibly physics breaking instantaneous transportation system, simply because that kind of thing is necessary for the scale of the story (encompasses most of the galaxy)
  13. On playing KSP, and hearing what the devs say about KSP, I have come to this conclusion. Kerbals mass produce everything in standardized sizes, and the starting tech is probably the remenants of a bankrupt, old space agency that has been taken over by a few rocket enthusiasts and their scientist friend. (Jeb, Bill, Bob and Werhner von kerman) AS their agency grows and ulocks more tech they begin recruiting a build up a new space program. So instead of each rocket being constructed after it is designed, each rocket is constructed with what is left and what is newly unlocked or bought. Plus, the modular design to everything allows for ease of building, and less for jeb to screw up when he builds the rockets at first, assuming they don't start with a dedicated builder. EDIT: Or all of what I said is just wishful thinking, and this is just a game.
  14. Gregox, I'm talking about stuff like SABRE engines, Warp drives, new solar systems etc...
  15. I have seen a lot of threads going on about what they want to see in the next update, or even the final version. But I have never seen anyone create a thread about what people don't want to see in the game. Simply put, what do we want to NEVER be implemented in the game, or removed? Personally, I want to see that no warp drives or similar OP systems are ever officially added.
  16. Sorry guys, I wont be able to participate in anything for the next couple of weeks, RL is in the way because of one thing: EXAMS. Unfortunately, this means that I need to withdraw from our battle Tegu.
  17. No, its fine. The Waldstein and the Zero will take their revenge. (I hope)
  18. Battle of Pendragon: http://www./download/izyw65h2eog1aei/persistent.sfs The Zero Squad have moved into a low orbit over Tylo, to investigate a rumoured threat to the Black Knights' home moon, Vall. The Zero Squad consists of: - Kozuki's Vengeance A new prototype destroyer, This will be the first battle for the "Lancelot - I" class of ships. (Yes, I know the pic isn't great, but I'm trying to not reveal too much about the Lancelot's construction and design.) -Zero's Wrath and Waldstein's Vanguard The two "Burai" class sister-ships have proven themselves versatile and tough, but this battle will be a major decider in the consideration of future construction and development of the "Burai" class.
  19. Tegu, I have had two battles, but I don't care who goes first.
  20. @ Tegu: Yeah, 240 Tonnes will be fine, just don't put them too close together if they are part-heavy. Set-up, or First turn? (Fighting over Tylo)
  21. Anyone up for a battle? Low orbit over Tylo? Or maybe Moho? Special rules: - 3 Ships max, Up to 200 Tonnes. - Any ship goes first, no limits by weight or size. - Other than that, same as always.
  22. Your engines are placed below the center of mass. I assume this is a SSTO, so change the engines out for TurboJets and move them up higher and Problem Solved!
  23. Will post pictures of the "Lancelot ALBION" class soon. Ablative armour, 230 Parts and 10 Missiles of multiple types (subject to change), he should be more powerful than anything I have made yet.
  24. Thanks for the battle Daemon, Until next time. @ Spartwo: I believe that the Black Knights are now eligible for a flag on the front page. (Unless I have misunderstood something)
